Lyrics for Forsaken as interpreted by Mopnugget

Forsaken Lyrics
When I have nothing left to feel.
When I have nothing left to say
I'll just let this slip away.

I feel these engines power down.
I feel this heart begin to bleed
as I turn this burning page.

Please forgive me if I bleed.
Please forgive me if I breathe.
I have words I need to say.
Oh so very much to say.

And whose life do I lead?
And whose blood do I bleed?
Whose air do I breathe?
With whose skin now do I feel?

I'm supposed to walk away from here.
I'm supposed to walk away from here.

And whose life do I lead?
Whose blood do I bleed?
Whose air do I now breathe?
I'm convinced there's nothing more.

The day you died I lost my way.
The day you died I lost my mind.

What am I supposed to do?
Is there something more?

The engines power down.
Like a soldier to his end I go.
Because I'm convinced
that there is nothing more.

and whose life do I lead
and whose air do I breathe?
With whose skin and whose blood do I feel?

What happens now?
Have I done something wrong?

Forgive my need to bleed right now.
Please forgive my need to breathe
But I've so much to say
and it wouldn't matter anyway.
You're not here to hear these words that I must say
and I'm convinced inside
that there is nothing more.

Whose life do I lead?
Whose air do I breathe.
Whose blood do I now bleed?
With whose skin now do I feel?

I have nothing left to say.
I have nothing left to feel.
Am I supposed to let this go now,
let darkness come and take you away?

i love this song.it's all about how how they knew someone who diedand he's beginning to doubt everything and feels sorry for his "faults",but he still has things to say but that person's not there anymore.if you really want to know why i love this song, even tho i relly don't want to type it because it still hurts so much, it's because my bf killed himself last winter and i feel as tho it's my fault and i still hav so much i wanted to say.

there's a quote at the end of this song. "if you're frightened of dying and holding on, then you'll see devils tearing your life away. but if you've made your pease, then the devils are really angels, freeing you from the earth". beautiful quote. taken from Jacobs Ladder. fits the song very well

this is one of the most beautiful, powerful songs I have ever heard- I think anyone who's ever lost someone can really feel the lyrics 'the day you died i lost my way/the day you died i lost my mind'
I think the song is about a friend who died- and he is pleading with that friend to forgive him for still being alive and living, breathing, bleeding. There are still many things he wants to tell the friend, and he realizes that without that friend in his life, he doesn't know who he is- who's life he leads. This is an incredible song

Can anyone tell me why my version has no lyrics?

Syrinx... as far as I can remember, it originally didn't have lyrics. Lyrics were added at one of their live gigs, at one point, and then VNV redid the song with lyrics over it. Hence, how it seems you can hear the raw emotion running through it.

JesusKebab talked of the quote at the end of the song, saying it was from the movie "Jacob's ladder" well its in that movie, but it existed a long time ago, it was originally written by Meister Eckhart a Christian Mystic who existed early last milliuem and the and whole quote is (even though only half of it is used in the song)

"The only thing that burns in hell is the part of you that
won't let go of your life: your memories, your attachments. They burn them all away, but they're not punishing you, they're freeing your soul. If you're frightened of dying and you're holding on, you'll see devils tearing your life away. If you've made your peace, then the devils are really angels freeing you from the earth." - Meister Eckhart

just wanted to clear that up for everyone :)

Wow, somebody give plazbo a bonus donut or something. Thanks for the info and that's a cool quote!
Oh and I pretty much agree that the song is about a deceased loved one and the guilt of still being alive.

I saw VNV live on the first US date of their futureperfect promo tour, and they talked about "Forsaken". Ronan said that he rarley preforms this song live, because of what it means to him emotionally. (He must have lost a love, or close friend) He simply said "We don't like to see people come to our shows and be sad and cry, we don't make depressing music, this song is about letting go... thats all, just letting go" - which is where the quote from "jacobs ladder" would come in. Just thought I'd share that with you all. It really changed my view on this song, because I wouldn't have guessed it was about letting go until he said something, and now when I listen to it, it's very apparent... almost every part of the song is about letting go I was going to paste all the lyrics that drew attention to it, but ended up pasting about 90% of the song.. anyways, one of VNV's best. :)

Oh, and speaking of the quote by Meister Eckhart (props to plazbo) - Has anyone seen the movie "What Dreams May Come" That quote really reminds me of that movie a lot.

This song kinda reminds me of the movie "Waking life" too.

The un-named Main character walks around and get Philosophical speeches... It's weird... Very good, though. I loved it.

The song is good, too. First by VNV I've heard.

4 days ago a friend of mine hung himself and slit his wrists. a friend of mine just played this song for me. it's incredibly powerful. i've got a funeral to attend to in about 5 and a half hours. if you are reading this, and you are feeling down, if you feel like ending it all, i've been there i know how it feels. problems have solutions, no matter how severe. help is always a 7 digit number away, call a friend. if you need someone that you don't know who you feel will not pass judgement on you, feel free to email me, i'll help you through whatever you need. I just joined the site so I'm not sure you if you can get my email address from my profile - but it's mr_kmfdm@yahoo.com

dead stars - vnv's music is not meant to inspire you to commit suicide..
it's meant to inspire you to live life to it's fullest.

this song is about coping with the tragidy of the death of his soulmate, and learning to "let go"

To me, this song has many meanings. The more obvious, the pain of loss, the pain of letting go, letting oneself feel the pain to the fullest and still go on, the apology to the dead for being alive, the words that can never be said.
But also an apology to those living, for being around.
It's an apology for being so different, so rejected that no one wants you around. So you leave, they don;t love you but you still love them.

The quote at the beginning of the song has much meaning as well. It's form the movie 1984, spoken by a former "criminal" who had his brain washed in Room 101. I think the song has much to do with living in a life where one is totally controlled by expectations and external forces. I think that the "you" of "the day you died I list my way" is actually himself.

If you've read the book 1984 or read the movie, I think this song has just as much meaning as understnading the song to be about death of a friend/loved one.

James was one of my best friends. A guy you could really depend on to always be there. He overdosed. No clue if it was on purpose or accident. But I know he died in his room, alone without me there. The one time in our lives I was susposed to be there and I wasn't, but I have been ever since. I sometimes go visit where he was buried, but all I seem to do is feel the deepest sense of guilt and shame. This song means to me more than anyone I have ever listened to. Yet I cannot listen to more than half of it, without hating myself for not being there.

The sheer emotion that he is screaming out during this song defines the very depth of this song... again an amazing song...
