    General Comment:I think this is about a prostitute because he seems to say how he loved her when she'd go. I think she started to like him which is why he says I stumbled onto you, kinda found you, and she fell over over him, and that is why she said fate was cruel. he didnt feel that way for her. Just my opinion. His new GF that looks a lot like her is probably just another whore

    General Comment:Ha, ha, I know I'll draw heat for it but this is a chick song. The feel and the whole concept, I could see it playing in the background at the beginning of a chick flick.

    General Comment:To me it seems like a quick relationship that didn't mean much at the time, when they broke up, she got over it pretty quickly but he found he couldn't get it out of his head. Pennies would thus be a reference to the phrase "penny for your thoughts".

    Somehow thought it doesn't all add up. Still one of my favorite SP songs ever.

    General Comment:I always thought 'pennies for sale' was like selling something of no value. He's discovered that he wants her, but she's moved on, and he can't convince her to want him. Even though her distance only sells him more, she is done with him.

    consider this, what if Penny was a prostitute? i know that would raise grammatical issues, but "Penny's for sale" starts to make a whole lot more sense.
