A thought burst in my head
And I need to tell you
It's news that I for thought
Was it a dream that
Happened long ago?
I think that I just forgot
Well it hasn't been the first time
And it sure does drive me mad

There's a boy who fogs his world and now he's getting lazy
There's no motivation and frustration makes him crazy
He makes a plan to take a stand but always ends up sitting.
Someone help him up or he's gonna end up quitting

I shuffle through my mind
To see if I can find
The words I left behind
Was it just a dream that happened long ago?
Oh well...
Never mind.

General Comment:This is my opinion of the song from someone who hasn't read the book where holden is from.

It seems pretty much about a teenage rebellion and angst, the word fogs sounds like the f-word and it turns the song into much more about a teen who doesn't give a damn about the world and just sitting there out of his mind on drugs and is too lazy to do anything. Almost like longview from an outsiders point of view.

General Comment:The Catcher in the Rye was definitely a enjoyable and thought-provoking book, and Holden was an awesome character... but I really don't see what all the hype concerning it is about- it's been blown out of proportion somewhat...

General Comment:A great song, discussing the need for support. This song relates to the only part of Catcher in the Rye which i found interesting. An internal struggle of wanting help but pushing it away "fogs his world". He is trying not to push people away like Holden did.

General Comment:This song is about how Billie Joe had to read this book in school and he never wanted to. When he finally read it he loved it and wrote this song about it.

My Opinion:Catcher in the Rye is all about the change Holden faces when he is expelled from Pencey Prep. That song has nothing to do with Catcher in The Rye or Holden Caulfield. I'm disapointed.

General Comment:I'm reading Catcher in the Rye right now actually, the reason I bought was because of this song, you see I thought to myself "Green day singing about a book? A book?! It gotta be fuckin awesome!" and then I also saw some other song songs that relates to it, dunno if you have heard it, anyway Bring me the Horizon have a song called "Who want's flower when you're dead? Nobody." which Holden is saying in the book when he's thinking about his grandpa or something. Well, I haven't finished the book yet, but I love it this far. There isn't really that much going on in it, but I love the way it's written and Holdens personilaty is just incredible, even if he's a bit of a sad person, he really makes you laugh!
And that Billie Joe is refering to him doesn't really make it worse..
