I don't want you to know too much about me, oh no
'Cause I know you'll take advantage of the words that I say
You're looking for a way to depress me, make me pay

You don't want me to be to close around you 'cause I would see
All the weak sides that you got, but which you're trying to hide
You know I would nail you if I could nurse my pride

'Cause you're on the top when I'm low
As soon as you're fading I will grow
I don't like you, you don't like me
We're lacking energy, yeah we're lacking energy

It's a mind game we play
Rule the roost, major cliché
While one of us is fit, the others going insane
And every time we think the positions will remain

You're on the top when I'm low
As soon as you're fading I will grow
I don't like you, you don't like me
We're lacking energy, yeah we're lacking energy
So you got me up against the wall
And I'm only waiting for your fall
I'll get back on top, and be carefree
It's not the end for me, no it's no the end for me

I know we're thinking the same
And our opponent's the one to blame
Thinking this way is not something that we both longed for
Living this way is something we never did plan
But I don't think we will change
'Cause we're stuck in roles as others antipoles

General Comment:This song relates to me as a person with bipolar. I obviously think the song is about the two polar opposites that define the disorder. The battle is between mania and depression. The fact that they are "lacking energy" is the lack of communication between the two. I have a depressive side that wants smoke cigarettes all day, sit on my ass and complain. I also have a manic side that wants to dominate the competition and date a hollywood star. The two never seem to have it going on at the same time. I guess there is a lack of balance. The guys from Millencolin to me are at a low when they are singing this song, because they want to get back up, and be carefree. However at the end they decide that this is the life (for there is no cure), so they say its our opponent that we need to dislike. What may the opponent be, that is the key answer. This song itself is so much more valuable than all the DSM crap. Because its research in explicit time, this is in early 2000's, there is no way they could know so much about the illness. This song is an artifact. It's almost like lyra using the golden compass without any training. Wow, I really like this song. So the point is. Find a common dislike between your various desires/personalities and combine them together, uniting them, against a mutual dislike. "We're lacking energy, We're lacking energy !!!!"

General Comment:I've listened to this song since it first came out and I just now recently thought about it when I was running.

I am in this exact situation with my ex-girlfriend. It just seems like we are in one big game. I don't want her to know things about me and I am sure she doesn't want me to know things about her. We were so close and it's crazy. I love this song.

General Comment:empire87: You should really ask yourself what's worse; a 14-year-old loser or a 19-year-old loser who acts like he's 14.

bridgeysheart: If you know/knew he was cheating on you and he still is/was your boyfriend, then you really ought to start valuing yourself higher.

Okay, free councelling time is over.

Great song, but what there is to say about it has already been said; someone finally even got each species on its correct pole. Well done.

General Comment:Meh, I agree with the guy/girl thing.

I'm not going to go into it and get accused of being 14 : p but yes it does remind me of a relationship I had.

    Love the song..

General Comment:sorry bridgeysheart, but i assure you absolutely no one cares. i thought this was a site to comment on song meanings, not counsel a 14yr old loser.
anyway... this song instantly reminded me of the old 'apples and oranges' or 'chalk and cheese' sayings which basically mean two things could not be more different. i thought the two people or two forces in the song were just total opposites and hated eachother.
on closer listen, it actually means more than that. the comments above nail exactly what the 'stuck in roles as other antipoles' line means so i won't repeat it, just go read them..
