alrite.. i don't know how many times i have listened to this song.. but i am still confused on what its about. mostly i think like... stuff w/ her boyfriend got bad & he didn't see how hard she was trying to make things work... so finally she got frustrated & just left.. but then she realized that she needs him... but then i don't get this.....

I think this song has a lot ot do with losing control-

" I think that I'm throwing but I'm thrown"

she's dealing with someone who really underestimates her and she is powerless because shes seems to need him.

I dunno thats just my guess

i think that she has her own idea to leave this guy or whatever bc she think she is strong and is able to do it. but meanwhile all this guy has done is put her down, so it makes her not think she has the ability to leave this guy.

melissy: it's actually "I caught you coz i want you and one day you'll let me go"... so i think, basically she wants to leave him, but she realized that she needs and misses him.. or sumthin like that. been loving this song since the first time i heard it :P

I think he just wanted her for a little bit and didnt' expect to fall in lvoe with her or something, and now that things are going too well, because he puts her down and such, she's trying to find the strength to leave him but then he realizes he needs her and is telling her to stay. Maybe that's just what I think.

this songs bout a girl who thinks she can leave the guy she loves- only because she believes she doesn't love him anymore- only to realize that once he's not her's she misses him- and wishes she had never made that mistake---------- ive been there

She wanted him to say 'stay' - but at the end she couldn't handle it so didn't listen to him as the line says ' you say, I only hear what I want to'. I haven't seen the video to this song in a while but I remeber her walking out of the door which depicts the relationship ending. I adore this song, and love the twist as at the start she is desperate to stay with him.

this is such a nice song. i love hte ending. i mean, throughout the whole song she's all upset and excited and whatever, in turmoil, not knowing what to do, reasoning with all these arguments and all and totally confused and chaotic. i feel like she's talking to the guy throughout this song. and the guy's response is so simple. just "stay". sort of like "i know, sorry, im not going to deny anything, i know im not perfect, i cant promise you anything, but just stay." aww its so nice lol

man, i remember this song came out when i was like 11 years old. it's still as good as it was then except i can relate to it more. when she says "and you say, stay" i think it might be her just listening to what she wants to again. but either way a great song

i'm thinking it has to do with a bunch of stuff.
1) the guy thinks that the girl is kind of hearing only what she wants to hear and isn't realizing how stuff really is - she thought everything was so bad when in retrospect it was really good
2) that by doing this she isn't being fair to the guy (ie "don't pay attention to the distance that you're running...")
3) so she decides to leave but then she realizes how bad she messed up and all of her mistakes with him
4) it's about regret
5) it's about wanting him to call her back
6) it's about wanting him to care again
just my thoughts... love this song... always will...

we dont know that she's not talking about a girl. it's just assumed that she's talking about a guy because the majority of couples are heterosexual, and lisa loeb (to my knowledge) is not notorious for being lesbian.
but anyway. i posted about this song already. liek i said before, really beautiful. and i love the sense of closure the last line gives...she comes a full circle. starts out quietly discontented, has a catharsis an gets all worked up and vents everything, and finally finds some sense of closure and peace, ending up at the beginning again. it's so sweet.

well i just was stating that we have this forced heterosexuality and we just assume (and you know what happens when we do that) she was talking about a guy. But its is s good song and love is love no matter if its girl to girl guy to guy or girl to guy- but posing a question nonetheless. I wonder how often this happens- people writing a song and the public assuming its about the opposite sex or gender when it is really about the same sex or gender alot of artists would be looked down upon if the admitted thier true preference - that kinda sucks they cant really be themselves..........................
