Maybe I don't really wanna know
How your garden grows cos I just want to fly
Lately, did you ever feel the pain?
In the morning rain as it soaks you to the bone

Maybe I just want to fly I want to live I don't want to die
Maybe I just want to breathe maybe I just don't believe
Maybe you're the same as me we see things they'll never see you and I
were gonna live forever

I said maybe I don't really wanna know
How your garden grows cos I just want to fly
Lately, did you ever feel the pain?
In the morning rain as it soaks you to the bone

Maybe I will never be all the things that I want to be
But now is not the time to cry now's the time to find out why
I think you're the same as me we see things they'll never see you and I
We're gonna live forever

Maybe I don't really wanna know
How your garden grows cos I just want to fly
Lately, did you ever feel the pain?
In the morning rain as it soaks you to the bone

Maybe I just want to fly I want to live I don't want to die
Maybe I just want to breathe maybe I just don't believe
Maybe you're the same as me we see things they'll never see you and I
You and I are gonna live forever
We're gonna live forever

Gonna live forever
Gonna live forever
Gonna live forever
Gonna live forever
Gonna live forever

General Comment:This song is very abstract so i will try to explain what stands to me in my experience.

my general impression of the song is talking about just living life. In the first verse, he is talking about he doesn't care about how someone lives, but he knows that he just "wants to fly." Flying is talking about a kind of freedom of spirit, or transcendence of spirit, that allows it be free to express itself. This concept is expressed in a lot in Oasis's songs.

Also, it talks about "did you ever feel the pain? in the morning rain, as it shoots to the bone?" This is in relation to express general pain, as if someone was experiencing hurt and is getting drenched. This is related to heartbreak, and just in general pain or disaffection, or feeling like the world is taking a metaphorical "dump" on you.

The chorus is of special significance, becaus it relates back to the first verse and how he is wanting to fly and "wants to live and don't want to do die." Another line that is impressing is "Maybe I just want to breathe, maybe I just don't believe." I especially think this line is special, because I think it relates to God. The writer wants to experience freedom and not have to be caught up in society and how it represses the spirit, such as Church and Christianity. "Maybe I just don't believe" indicates that he doesn't believe in God because he wants to be free to "fly" or free to just be. Then he ends the chorus, "I think you are the same as me, that we see things that they don't see." I believe this line is expressing that he is realteing to someone who has been hurt the same way he has, and as a result of the hurtign or the pain, has reached a certain level of mindfulness that others can't relate to because they haven't been hurt the same way as he has, which might express a fortunateness.

However, the song is very abstract and can speak to people in many different ways, which is the beauty of poetry.

One of my favorite songs of all time.

General Comment:The best song in the entire world. This is what we all should do: accepting people no matter what. If you care about someone, then you'll take them with their good and their bad aspects. "Maybe I don't really wanna know how your garden grows"

General Comment:I came here to write about this song but Wilson0692's comment on the previous page summed up everything I wanted to say.

It's about someone who wants to live life and go after their dreams. Someone who tires to escape a mundane life. A masterpiece written by Noel.

General Comment:I was in 7th grade when this song came out and that was when I used to really hype up Oasis. So my friend was really sick of hearing me talk about them when this song comes on the radio. So she comes at me the next day all, "hey I heard Oasis last night!" and since she had no idea what Oasis was I didn't believe it. But then she says, "do they have a song called Live Forever?" and I'm like "YEAH IT'S THEIR BEST SONG!!!!" and she was like "well they suck".

it depresses me to know that she still has no idea what real music is..... :/

General Comment:What a great song if you want to be optimistic about stuff that's impossible to be optimistic about. Like, even this band staying together.

My Interpretation:to me this song talks about the pointlesnes of small conversations
and how no one ever cares to talk about anything deep
(i don't really want to know how your garden grows)
hey but thats just i think when i hear the words

My Opinion:A big anthem of a song and trippy and introverted and thoughful all at the same time. There is almost a wall of sound approach that really works... Noel's guitar is a joy enough all by itself in this song... it's trippy sounding the way there are layer and the licks his is playing at really tasty... somewhat buried but you can hear it if you listen good. The concept of it had to do, at least to me and I know others at the time, with being at the mercy of life in some regards and being dedicated to life/work, but just wearing out on it all and looking for direction. And getting to the point of just meaning off the path, even in ways that may wind up being too dangerous (with partying, etc), which was part of the whole thing to begin with. We spend so much time devouring a lot of the 60's stuff and the 70's and there was so much stuff like Oasis that contained all those influences... Oasis did it so well, and it was deceptively simple. Noel is simple like McCartney was simple, but we all know McCartney was not all that simple... and through him in with John and you go from simple to divinity. Noel got the divinity, at least then... which was like being in a vortex. Another thing that I like is how he had not just those influences but a lot of great banks like the Smiths and other similar English alternative... I'm trying to think but I can't right now. But suffice it to say is that I can totally see Noel's gratitude toward that music... he truly loves that stuff and, thing is, he was stepping into the spotlight himself but being able to not only pay tribute to it, but put an even cooler spin on it (this is just stuff that came only a few years before him that some people didn't ever really get or hear) and then he blew up bigger to show it can/should shine in the big spotlight. Yeah it's about heros... remember the video and it's images of various persons (as well as flashing mushrooms?) I like the detached quality of Liam and also Liam's nasally vocals (John).... the answers were just around the corner, maybe......
