Lyrics for Live Forever as interpreted by deathchurch

Live Forever Lyrics
Maybe I don't really want to know
How your garden grows
I just want to fly
Lately did you ever feel the pain
In the morning rain
As it soaks you to the bone

Maybe I just want to fly
I want to live I don't want to die
Maybe I just want to breath
Maybe I just don't believe
Maybe you're the same as me
We see things they'll never see
You and I are gonna live forever

I said maybe I don't really want to know
How your garden grows
'Cause I just want to fly
Lately did you ever feel the pain
In the morning rain
As it soaks you to the bone

Maybe I will never be
All the things that I want to be
But now is not the time to cry
Now's the time to find out why
I think you're the same as me
We see things they'll never see
You and I are gonna live forever
We're gonna live forever
Gonna live forever
Live forever
Forever

Every band has it's influences, and it just so happens that The Beatles were Oasis'. The Misfits - Green Day. Tabitha's Secret - Matchbox Twenty (althogh some might say that they are actually the same band;)) some of Oasis' lyrics seem deep and meaningful, but are just random words strung together to sound smart - not that I'm critizising Noel's songwriting abilities... NOEL + LIAM = AWESOME SOUND, AWESOME LYRICS, AWESOME BAND!! Live Forever Oasis!! One of my favourites along with Champagne Supernova, Don't Look Back In Anger and Stop Crying Your Heart Out.

dude, his name was Kurt Cobain. my suggestion is don't ever get that wrong again because you lose all credibility when you mess up an iconic name like that

I do not think this is a band discussing place to post? But anyway I like britpop a lot. Yet Nirvana were just fantastic.

This song like Liam said is about respect for something you love. I know they had different music videos out in the UK and in the US but in the US one they flash pictures of past great musicians really subtly which shows that it is a tribute. They had Hendrix for sure I think I saw Lennon but I haven't seen the video in a long time. I'm sure its on youtube.

This song isn't "clearly" about Lennon as some of you seem to claim. This song was infact written, as previously noted, during the early nineties and it's about the grunge scene and it's self-destructive attitude. I believe that it was a song written in particular about the infamous and amazing Kurt (Not Kirk) Cobain a few months before he took his own life. It is a beautiful song and is (in my opinion of course) on of the best written. xx

To me this encapsulates being high (either being manic or on coke). Shame it doesn't last.

I think it's about a young adult’s aspirations to get out of their current provincial life. “Maybe I don't really want to know/How your garden grows” They don’t care for the mundane.

They have hopes and dreams as well “I just want to fly”. But they’re brought back from the dream, by their surroundings (i.e. Manchester at the time) “lately, did you ever feel the pain/In the morning rain/As it soaks it to the bone.” This song is so ethereal, I can’t believe ‘Angels’ by Robbie Williams won that award ‘Best Song in 25 Years’, surely this song deserves it?

In a recent promotional interview for their Best Of "Stop The Clocks", Noel Gallagher said the song was a backlash to the depression of Grunge and hence a symbol for optimisim for Britpop!

i feel so lame posting on this website.....but oh well....

"we see things they'll never see"

amazing....speaks to me about connection, sometimes it's never verbalized in a relationship...but sometimes it never has to be...

Quite simply one of the greatest ever. As Noel says, it's not a direct retort to Kurt Cobain..but it is written as a natural reaction to the "We hate ourseleves and want to die attitude of grunge" - ..."the man had everything and was miserable about it, we had fuck all and still thought waking up was the best thing in the world because who'd know where we'd end up!?"

It's just a song of eternal hope, however bad you are feeling..however fucked up things are..this song offers hope to anybody. Live Forever. Im getting "Live Forever" tattooed in small writing on my shoulder in the next year.

Quality song, don't get me wrong, I love it, but it's not one of the best 10 ever. And they're not better than the Beatles.

Never mind the top 10 best songs ever, in my opinion this is the best song ever. The music and lyrics are great and it reminds me of a great time in my life. why do people constantly compare them to the Beatles. Oasis are a great band in their own right, so what if they are influenced by the beatles, all bands have influences. Great as the Beatles were I'd rate Live Forever,Don't Look Back In Anger and Champagne Supernova better than anything the Beatles did. Can I stress this is just my opinion

In addition, it maybe something like 'controversy' between Oasis and "Try Not to Breath" by R.E.M. (http://www.songmeanings.net/lyric.php?lid=39233)
I'll try not to breath - Maybe I just want to breath
I have seen things that you will never see - We see things they'll never see
I need something to fly over my grave again - I just want to fly

Oasis' best song, I reckon. It's probably not one of the 10 best songs ever, in fact now I think about it I'm pretty sure it isn't, but I don't think there has been a better song written since it... not that I can think of, anyway.

Definitely one of the best songs of all time. Oasis may be arrogant but they're not stupid.

The lyrics are great and it's obvious this is a song of respect and devotion, not just another love song. It's a song about best friends, lovers, family, not a girlfriend.

i think this song's about a person's goals and the difficulties of reaching them... then you finally find someone who has the same dreams, the same perspective of life, and you wanna be with him forever...
though i dont think it's about love
its more about chemistry between ppl and ideals
