Lyrics for Live Forever as interpreted by deathchurch

Live Forever Lyrics
Maybe I don't really want to know
How your garden grows
I just want to fly
Lately did you ever feel the pain
In the morning rain
As it soaks you to the bone

Maybe I just want to fly
I want to live I don't want to die
Maybe I just want to breath
Maybe I just don't believe
Maybe you're the same as me
We see things they'll never see
You and I are gonna live forever

I said maybe I don't really want to know
How your garden grows
'Cause I just want to fly
Lately did you ever feel the pain
In the morning rain
As it soaks you to the bone

Maybe I will never be
All the things that I want to be
But now is not the time to cry
Now's the time to find out why
I think you're the same as me
We see things they'll never see
You and I are gonna live forever
We're gonna live forever
Gonna live forever
Live forever
Forever

This is my favourite Oasis song - but I haven't really heard a lot. But I think this is tons better than Wonderwall, which I think is, quite frankly, overrated

whatever they may say the song is about, for me it encapsulates very well the feeling of class divides that are always associated with Oasis, and how soon they would become rich like the upper classes. "Pods" i think had it right there.
as for the beatles thing, well i see Oasis as a far superior version of the beatles; good songs, funny characters, firm conviction. but the beatles really weren't that good anyway. and these days oasis are a bit shit aswell.
i think its quuite funny when you read/hear oasis' arrogance. just makes me love them more.

its thier 3rd single, so like oasis were only starting off, noel is more or less just saying what he wants to do (i just wanna live/dont wanna die...) and is doing the opposite of the grunge scen attitude of wanting to kill themselves.. an awesone track, one of the best songs ever without doubt..

For the first time ever, Liam may not be totally wrongheaded. They actually have the right to be cocky about this song, because it is brilliant and an anthem that ranks with anything else made in the 1990's, and I'd argue it's one of the 3 or 4 best singles of the decade for sure, but that doesn't dismiss the fact that AT BEST, the first 2 Oasis albums are merely competent records that have a few great anthemic-singles on each of them, but that's it. Every album they released after "What's The Story" is either totally mediocre or totally awful. I truly think Oasis was a band that had 2 good albums in them, and really nothing else. They weren't even the best brit-pop band. If you wanna hear truly great brit-pop, get Blur, Doves, Pulp, and Bends-era Radiohead.

But now is not the time to cry
Now's the time to find out why

this song means so much to me. those lines have such meaning, instead of crying about your problems, find out why you are..so maybe you can solve them! :) you can make things better!

Noel said the song is not about love because love is cheap. It's about something deeper, the emotions you have with a best friend or girlfriend/boyfriend. It's a bout hope and feeling like you share something unique with a person. He also said it was for his mother.

This IS the greatest song of all time, amazing live. I hate it when people say Oasis haven't done anything since 1995, they've done a load of great songs. And as for them not being the best band of brit pop, I laugh at you sir, Oasis WERE brit pop! Everyone else is gone, Oasis will live forever.

It's such a simple song, which Noel has arranged perfectly in terms of rhythm, and melody. He is definately one of the greatest song writers of all time. Awesome song

I would say this is one of the best rock songs of all time, and that, had it been written 40 years ago it would regularly be bumping "stairway to heaven" off of favorites lists. But I don't want to overhype it for those who haven't listened yet. Instead I will just say it is a mediocre song.

It is, however, the best of the album along with Slide Away. Arguably the two best things in life are spending time with good friends and being in love, and Noel certainly does them justice on this album, if not makign a strong argument for a third item (music) to be added to that list.

This is different from a lot of stuff here, and it's probably not what Oasis meant with the song, but what this song means to me is a fantasy vs reality thing.
'Maybe I don't really wanna know how your garden grows, I just wanna fly'
= I don't wanna know how the real world works, I wanna do something that is impossible/defy logic

'Lately did you ever feel the pain
In the morning rain
As it soaks it to the bone'
= water is one of the most calming elements, but this shows rain (many small droplets of water) as a form of inflicting pain, not physically, but psychologically, as if you're someone to whom the most harmless of things in reality can hurt them easily.

'Maybe I just want to fly
I want to live I don't want to die'
=again, defying all logic. I don't want to just go through life to die, I wanna live for something impossible.

'Maybe I just want to breathe'
=maybe I don't wanna be caught up in this fantasy i'm trapped in, I wanna make it in the real world. Breathing is physics, it's vital in the real world, where when you're dreaming you don't realize such physics apply.

'Maybe I just don't believe'
=maybe I can't escape this fantasy, because reality has screwed me over so much that I don't believe in it anymore.

'Maybe you're the same as me
We see things they'll never see'
=love kicks in, you find someone who's the same as you, a dreamer trying to make it in reality

'You and I are gonna live forever'
=we'll both keep dreaming, no matter what.

I think this song is about being free. (I just want to fly)

It's about somebody who's had some tough breaks and bad experiences and is at times depressed- hey who isn't once in a while (Lately did you ever feel the pain/In the morning rain), but will never let that stop them from living life. (I want to live I don't want to die)

It's about not buying into society's bullshit, norms and expectations, but making personal decisions and living by your own moral and intellectual standards. (Maybe I just want to breathe/Maybe I just don't believe)

It's also about finding someone, regardless of who they may be, who sees you for who you are, which is liberating. (We see things they'll never see)

Noel's live version gives me the shivers. Easily one of the greatest songs ever written because of the feeling it gives you.
Being cocky is alright as long as you have something to show for it. And damn, do they ever.

When I first heard the song and the words "maybe I just don't believe" I thought it might have been him being afraid of death because he doesn't know what is on the other side and doesn't believe in it. It could be afraid of fame dying, too. These themes can weave into one another. It's just such a great song. I'm glad I heard it at just the right time in my life, totally captures what I felt and still feel.

This so *exaclty* sums up a teenager-- rebelious, disinchanted, self-obsessed, and maybe a little...uplifted?. (Ok, so, all the teenagers here are going to come running at me, saying thats not how they feel... but heck, it's how I feel ^^; )
-They think they can do anything ("I just wanna fly").
-They don't care about anything but themselves ("I don't really wanna know, how your garden grows").
-They lose many of the nieve thoughts of childhood, and become dissinchanted and sceptical ("Maybe I just don't believe").-
They live for their friends.
-They think their irrevocably unique ("We see things they're never see")

and most of all, teenagers really do feel that they're immortal- not only do they not want to die, they can't even imagine the possiblity. We really will 'Live Forever'.

I love, love, love this song. I can't even put into words how much I love it. If I tried, it would sound a little something like this:aituiortjlg.
But did you see Oasis beat the Beatles in a poll about who had the best album of all time? Yeah, Definitely Maybe won... So take that. Whether or not they are better than the Beatles is totally a matter of personal opinion. I personally like Oasis better, but it's really not worth arguing about.

This song means absolutely everything to me. The most important person to me passed away almost 2 weeks ago and all night long he kept wanting to listen to this song. After he passed I went back and downloaded this song and I listened to it over and over again...it just feels to me like he was trying to send me a message before he passed. I'll be getting a tribute tattoo in the near future and I will have "You and I are gonna live forever" be a part of that.

I'm not a huge fan of Oasis, butI adore this song. It's a positive 'you-and-me-against-the-world' song. About finding someone that has the same wavelength as you and achieving all your dreams with them.

"as for the beatles thing, well i see Oasis as a far superior version of the beatles"

sorry, but that is the stupidst thing ive ever read....moreso than dr. suess.....

come on....NO ONE is the beatles, especially not Oasis, who are just a poor attempt at reviving them....true Oasis had cool songs, which is why i even care, but just becuase they sound like the beatles doesnt make them the beatles.....it makes them arrogant assholes....they claim such a "talent", yet they lack the talent of being origional....and they had to be obvious rip-offs too

dont discrace the name of the beatles over a band like oasis.

there shouldnt be "versions"of a band, each band should be its own thing....which Oasis is not

catchy jingle, though

BUT IN NO WAY WILL ANY OASIS SONG EVER COMPARE TO THE MASTERY OF THE BEATLES...

I want you (she's so heavy)
come together
nowhere man
eleanor rigby
helter skelter
strawberry fields forever

if that didnt make my point then i give up
