Lyrics for Live Forever as interpreted by deathchurch

Live Forever Lyrics
Maybe I don't really want to know
How your garden grows
I just want to fly
Lately did you ever feel the pain
In the morning rain
As it soaks you to the bone

Maybe I just want to fly
I want to live I don't want to die
Maybe I just want to breath
Maybe I just don't believe
Maybe you're the same as me
We see things they'll never see
You and I are gonna live forever

I said maybe I don't really want to know
How your garden grows
'Cause I just want to fly
Lately did you ever feel the pain
In the morning rain
As it soaks you to the bone

Maybe I will never be
All the things that I want to be
But now is not the time to cry
Now's the time to find out why
I think you're the same as me
We see things they'll never see
You and I are gonna live forever
We're gonna live forever
Gonna live forever
Live forever
Forever

Just a beautiful song.. Again, Noel-sung live/acoustic version is the best.

Great, great song. I think it's about achieving everything you want in life: happiness, success, whatever; and feeling immortal because of it. I think it's also about finding people that have the same goals as you, and achieving those things together.

This is probably my favourite Oasis song. I think it's about the immortality of music idols and how even if they do physically die, their presence and influence is able to be seen everywhere. That's what I got from the video clip anyway, and assumed that the brothers were (rightly) talking about themselves in this way. It's could also be about how people close to you are in your mind, immortal, and how you never want to come to saying a final goodbye to them.

This song was apparently written in five minutes flat in the v early 90's when Noel was fed up with the ' I want to kill myself ' attitude of the grunge scene at the time. It's basically just a reposte to the shoe gazing attitudes...

Brilliant as this song is, the demo version's much better - it's got a really acoustic intro over the drums, then Liam's voice kicks in. Really mellow.

Noel&Liam say..Live Forever- "Thatīs for our mam. Itīs quite simply one of the ten greatest songs of all time. I said that when I first wrote it and I stand by it now. I challenge anyone else in the next ten years to come up with anything as good. Except for us of course. Well, itīs about relationships that people have, not necessarily with girlfriends, about friends and friendships that live forever.. commitment. Itīs not about anything, itīs not a love song, the word love, you can love Mars bars, and I love my bike. Itīs a song about respect, having respect for your girlfriend, your mother or your father or your friends. The line `We see things theyīll never seeī, only two best friends would say that to each other, two twins maybe. Itīs a song of hope, a song about being young and trendy. A fucking good song but I think I can do better."

Dude, Oasis is hecka stuck-up. Top ten of all time? Oasis might be an okay band, but they're basically just rip-offs of the Beatles. Some of their songs are okay, but I can't help but think they're just following in the footsteps of the greatest band of all time. That said, it's an ok song. Reminds me of the Beatles.

I don't see Live Forever as a love song. IT's, as Enola said, an anthemic song to all those heroes that even though they've passed, will always stay in our minds, they will Live Forever.
IMO, this song is mostly 4 Lennon. As we all know he's Liam's idol & Noel admires him a lot too. Besides, they always show a pic. of Lennon on the screen at the end of the song in every gig.

In the documentary Live Forever, Noel discussed that the song was about growing up in a lower class and about resisting, as debaser2002 mentioned, the 'i want to kill myself attitude'. It has a similar, although much more subtly said meaning as the Pulp's 'Common People' where these people are focussed on day to day living, and don't care 'how your garden grows'

Read this lyrics, and it is pretty evident... i think:

Maybe I don't really want to know
How your garden grows
I just want to fly
Lately did you ever feel the pain
In the morning rain
As it soaks it to the bone
Maybe I just want to fly
I want to live I don't want to die
Maybe I just want to breath
Maybe I just don't believe

He totally wrote it to John Lennon. He's talking to him, bexause he feels identified and related to him. And wants to be as famous and great as him. Obviously, artists always play with the meaning of their songs afterwards, because after playing them night after night after night, they start to read other stuff into them. But the fact that the cover of the single is a picture of the house where Lennon grew up proves my point. It's about Noel's struggle for success and recognition.

for all u people out there that see oasis as betles rip offs open your eyes, oasis are the best band of the past couple of decades. of course they arn't as good as the beatles but they aren't far off and some of their songs are better than the beatles, for example; slide away, stand by me, LIVEFORVER etc.

Oasis sound very different from the beatles. They've got influences like the Sex Pistols and stuff. There first two albums were as good as the Beatles first two. Inbetween In Utero and Californication they were the best band in the world. I think what he 'doesn't believe' is all the people who tell you to stay between the lines and to live the way society wants.

Let us not forget that in someway or another every band stops off at the beatles airport. Im a beatles fanatic, own every album(UK version) and have studied and taken a class in college on the beatles. Oasis are just like bruce springsteen, green day and nirvana. Kirk Kobain was a huge beatles fan. Im also a huge oasis fan and i can't wait until i see them in Md in september. They may not have changed the world like the beatles did, but dammit, they are a great band and live forever should always be in any top 25 countdown, though american media dismiss anything but wonderwall.
