Lyrics for Wonderwall as interpreted by kevin

Wonderwall Lyrics
Today is gonna be the day that they're gonna throw it back to you
By now you shoulda somehow realized what you gotta do
I don't believe that anybody feels the way I do about you now
Back beat, the word is on the street that the fire in your heart is
out
I'm sure you've heard it all before but you never really had a doubt
I don't believe that anybody feels the way I do about you now
And all the roads we have to walk are winding
And all the lights that lead us there are blinding
There are many things that I would like to say to you
But I don't know how
Because maybe
You're gonna be the one that saves me
And after all
You're my wonderwall
Today was gonna be the day but they'll never throw it back to you
By now you shoulda somehow realized what you're not to do
I don't believe that anybody feels the way I do about you now
And all the roads that lead you there were winding
And all the lights that light the way are blinding
There are many things that I would like to say to you
But I don't know how
I said maybe
You're gonna be the one that saves me
And after all
You're my wonderwall
I said maybe
You're gonna be the one that saves me
And after all
You're my wonderwall
I said maybe
You're gonna be the one that saves me
You're gonna be the one that saves me
You're gonna be the one that saves me

In 1968, George Harrison released his first solo venture "Wonderwall Music". I think that because it was his first solo effort outside of the beatles group, the word 'wonderwall' (what the hell is one anyway ;) was chosen. I think that the song probably has something to do with becoming involved with someone that your circle of friends doesnt quite approve of, or doesnt fit in with them. Perhaps the subject of the song was once a part of the group and was kind of ditched. In anycase i think that by being the singers "wonderwall", the subject is their outside venture, their thing that is theirs, and theirs alone. This song (despite being extremely overplayed) is one of my favorites.

i think this song is about the love for a girl butu being to afraid to say anything because she seems to perfect but at the same time he knows theres more that meets the eye and that she too has problems and he wants to say everything he is feeling because he knows that they are meant to be and that she can help him with his troubles and he can help her and it will be a long tough road ahead but it will be a happy ending and well worth it if she just gave him a chance. and i think that "wonderwall" means something like he always wondered about her and what they could be but there was a wall between him and her so they said wonderwall.

This song is the portentous narrative of my recent romatic episode. I'll preface my interpretation by introducing our afflicted heroine. She was quite a catch indeed, the type you'd be proud to bring home to mum. But despite her devastating beauty and intimidating intellect which not only served to inspire but also to humble, she was so troubled and so fragile. Such was the dilemma. Love is the bondage of emotions and corporeal desires, and it would be criminal to hold a free spirit such as hers to such a contract. In her vulnerable state she had developed a habit of seeking abuse and self-degredation, which the confinement of love would deny her. So we went our ways --she, to sort out her inner conflicts on her own, I, to wait for her return. Fastforward to the future, or the ominous present --Today is gonna be the day when they're gonna throw it back to you, by now you shoulda some how figured out what you gotta do-- Our heroine has returned to her hometown, she's apprehensive of her reunion with her abandoned past, but she braves judgement and potentially devastating emotional strife and has made the decision to return, she can't runaway from her problems forever. Her return has raised hopes in her admirers that her inner drama has been played out and she may accept the love they have always offered and even reciprocate it. And I would believe that I was unique in my feelings for her. I begin to imagine the tortuous yet brilliant road to our future together. The feeling of nirvana I had felt when we first met returns. Finally, she is here to save me from unbearably melancholy life which has become all too gray and dreary. Suicidal thoughts --out, hopes of a brighter future --in. 1:54 -- In an instant, the dark clouds of loneliness and depression close over my life. I am no longer bathed in the warm, fuzzy light of a bright and happy future. She still radiates with the same awe inspiring glow yet there is no silver lining in my life, not a single glimmer of a high prospects shine through to me. Then it becomes clear. While she had been resolving her issues and I had been hoping and waiting for her return, she had also found a new life. One that I was not a part of. Her new life will indeed be a tortuous yet brilliant one, but I would not be there to walk with her through it. Today was gonna be the day, but they'll never throw it back to you. Although god knows I still love you and will always love you, It's not my place to walk back into your life to pick up where we stopped. You've come to terms with your past, and you're simply saying farewell. As for myself, I still need to find my life and resolve my issues with the past. That's how you've saved me and like a wall, a wonderwall. I'll always look to you for support but our lives must travel in parellel.

I've always thought this song was about the love of your life.. how you realize how much they mean to you and how it's hard to express your feelings for them... (perhaps the relationship had ended and you just now realized how much they mean to you but they don't want nothing to do with you... hmmm ~ "Back beat, the word is on the street that the fire in your heart is out") As for the lines, "And the roads we have to wind are winding.. and all the lights that lead us there are blinding..." I think that symbolizes the uncertainity of the future that lies ahead. *shrugs* That's what I've always thought it meant.

Debaser was right, it was written for Noel's ex-wife, Meg Matthews. The band stopped playing it live after they got divorced but I just saw them live last week and Noel's started playing it again.

i always took this song as him being mad at the girl he loves. or disappointed... or maybe they broke up or something. everyone keeps saying how it's just this romantic love song.. but i don't know. i think when he says "There are many things that I would like to say to you/But I don't know how/Because maybe/You're gonna be the one that saves me/And after all/You're my wonderwall"
he means that he'd like to tell her about what he thinks she's doing wrong, etc, but he knows that it'll probably come back to bite him in the ass, and anyway she's still his 'wonderwall'. so i guess maybe it is a love song... but a disturbed love song?

Noel&Liam say...Wonderwall- "Well itīs for Meg. And itīs a classic. What more can I say? She had a company which folded and she was feeling a bit sorry for herself. The sentiment is that there was no point in her feeling down, she has to sort my life out for me because Iīm in bits all the time."

i figure it means that when finding someone you truely care about, it's not always easy and you've got to be careful when with this person cause you might lose them. also that relationships can be confusing and hard to determine.
