Lyrics for Wonderwall as interpreted by kevin

Wonderwall Lyrics
Today is gonna be the day that they're gonna throw it back to you
By now you shoulda somehow realized what you gotta do
I don't believe that anybody feels the way I do about you now
Back beat, the word is on the street that the fire in your heart is
out
I'm sure you've heard it all before but you never really had a doubt
I don't believe that anybody feels the way I do about you now
And all the roads we have to walk are winding
And all the lights that lead us there are blinding
There are many things that I would like to say to you
But I don't know how
Because maybe
You're gonna be the one that saves me
And after all
You're my wonderwall
Today was gonna be the day but they'll never throw it back to you
By now you shoulda somehow realized what you're not to do
I don't believe that anybody feels the way I do about you now
And all the roads that lead you there were winding
And all the lights that light the way are blinding
There are many things that I would like to say to you
But I don't know how
I said maybe
You're gonna be the one that saves me
And after all
You're my wonderwall
I said maybe
You're gonna be the one that saves me
And after all
You're my wonderwall
I said maybe
You're gonna be the one that saves me
You're gonna be the one that saves me
You're gonna be the one that saves me

I wouldn't say Oasis at their best, though still a solid song for them. The song means, as many have sugested, the idea of someone to be solid in their life, like a wall to lean on. For a person doing drugs, stability is something they need more then anything, and a stable person who can just be there, consistantly stable, not letting their emotions getting in the way, but just being there through the rough times is what they need.

As for this wall, it is really screwed up.

First of all, the Beatles are clearly the most influential band of all time. Deciding if they are better then Oasis is stupid because anyone who knows anything can tell you that hearing, like all other senses, have likes and dislikes different from everyone elses, so you can never truly say which is the best music, piece of art, texture, food, or smell, because it is an individual thing.

Seccondly, meggawesome, you are a psycho who needs to stop crushing on an idiot like that. That is the dumbest story I have ever heard. Listen to your parents, and stay away from the guy. If he loved you, you wouldn't have flipped in the car.

Third, Sons & Daughters, get the fuck off your high horse, because honestly, you are a fuckin moron. I totally agree Jesus is a bunch of bullshit, but everyone has their own fuckin spirituality, and some need their religion to go on every day. I fuckin need my music, and without my iPod, I'd die. Don't think that people can't translate these songs into whatever they feel like, because everyone has rights to their own interpretations.

Lastly, deedee 20382, though I think assuming all the stupid comments on here are from teenagers makes you look like an ass, I have to agree that all the stupid bullshit posts that seem very teenage like really should not be on this website, so I congratulate you for being a rare intellect out of this wall.

this song is the story of my life right now.
this song, to me, is about a girl and a guy who are really close friends.
they help eachother through all kinds of situations and are always there for eachother
(And all the roads we have to walk are winding
And all the lights that lead us there are blinding)

but, the guy feels more than friendship towards the girl, and doesn't know how to tell her, because he doesn't want to get rejected or ruin their friendship.

the lyrics are so perfect, i'm sure everyone who can relate to the theme agrees. every word means so much.

my "wonderwall" called me one night, and this song happened to be playing in the background in his room. i never realized how much it applied to our friendship until he sang it to me that night, and i started crying. there should be more songs like this.

This is such a great song. It describes a love situation that everyone encounters and they hear the song they just sit back and think about their relationship... truly amazing

This is Oasis's best song, although I haven't really connected to it yet. It's just a pleasant song to listen to.

ok, enough about the beatles. in my opinion, this song is about how strongly this guy feels for some girl. but everything would be too complicated and it would mess things up if he told her how he felt. good song, good subject. if you have someone that is your "wonderwall" you'll understand. if you don't, then you should. everyone should have a "wonderwall" in their life. at least someone they can tell everything to. it helps a lot.

Ditto

I feel that this song can be interpreted any way you want. There are four different theories that I've seen though:

First one is that this song is about George Harrison and his album entitled "Wonderwall." This was an album that he released soon after the Beatles break up. The lyrics are slightly convincing, like the lyrics "Back beat, the word is on the street, that the fire in your heart is out...." Back beat was Harrison's nickname. Also the lyric "By now, you should've somehow realized what you're not to do" signifies how people felt he shouldn't have released the album so early after the breakup and how much of a varying sound the record had in contrast with his work while in the band. But then again, a lot of the other lyrics don't fit in describing George Harrison. To me, they seem to be about a girl.

Another theory is that the "Wonderwall" is a thing and not a person. In an interview with the Gallagher brothers, Liam or Noel (can't remember which one exactly, or both) said that "Wonderwall" was a wall in their home where they would write lyrics/put pictures of their idols. Although, again, this could've just been made up to deflect criticism about their lyrics possibly being about George Harrison.

These next two are the ones I find most convincing, since they came directly from the songwriter, Noel. The third theory suggests he wrote the song about his then girlfriend, Meg Matthews. In one interview (I find him slightly hard to understand, so if I'm wrong forgive me) Noel says he was talking to Meg and told her he was writing a song for her during the production of the album and the song. In a later interview, Noel suggests that the song isn't about Meg, and that the media said that it was. Lastly, Noel actually says in an interview that the song is about "an imaginary friend who is going to come and save you from yourself".

I think this song is very beautiful, with nice instrumentation and even better lyrics. If you want to check out these interviews for yourself, there are links to them at this url:

This song is NOT a love song. I don't know WHY people interpret it as that "Today is gonna be the day that they're gonna throw it back to you" ? Oh yeah. He sounds really "in love" "The fire in your heart is out" "No one feels the way i do about you now" That's not in a loving way. I think he's pissed. He's not happily in a relationship. THIS IS A SAD SONG PEOPLE. IT'S MEANT TO BE THAT WAY, PLEASE TAKE IT LIKE SO

to me, this song really means a lot.. its an extremely emotional song and has so many reasons and emotions attached to it personally. me and my best friend, who i had feelings for, were going through a hard time.. barely on speaking terms, then i found out i was moving 4 hours away. so i knew it would be too hard to say goodbye to him.. so i wrote him a letter and gave it to him. and i told him this song made me think of him.. that he saved me, and that he was my wonderwall. and that no one felt the way i did about him and there were so many things that i needed to tell him but i just can't bring myself to say them.. some of which i did actually say in the letter.

"Today is gonna be the day that they're gonna throw it back to you
By now you shoulda somehow realized what you gotta do" -> reality was setting in and he realized he and i would have to say goodbye, that's what he had to do

"Back beat, the word is on the street that the fire in your heart is
out
I'm sure you've heard it all before but you never really had a doubt
I don't believe that anybody feels the way I do about you now" -> he always knew there was a chance of me moving, and he was heartbroken when he found out the news, he wished it wasnt happening. and about me having feelings for him, everyone knew.. and he had no doubt about it.. but he doesnt really know how strong those feelings actually are

"And all the roads we have to walk are winding
And all the lights that lead us there are blinding" -> the road that we're on now is so hard and the idea and reality of it all settling in is so touch and blinding, but we can mak it through it all.. if we each want to and can

and it kind of goes on from there.. it was the perfect song to leave him with. now everytime i'm feeling sad or under serious pressure or having any doubt, i turn on the song and i know i'm okay. sometimes i put it on repeat and think of the moment we said goodbye but there's no such thing as goodbye.. just moments of change and "see you soons."

all in all, this is a fantastic song.

I agree with noelgallagher and I have always been confused about why if someone calls you their wonderwall that is a good thing.

Today was gonna be the day but they'll never throw it back to you
By now you shoulda somehow realized what you're not to do
I don't believe that anybody feels the way I do about you now

I don't take a positive message from this song

To me, this song has a personal meaning which could probably apply to others as well.

I met this most wonderful girl, and she caught my heart from the start. We each saw such good in each other and realized that maybe something was meant to be. But one day, she shows up claiming that she's found someone else and she's fallen for them. This had me so ticked off, that I was stuck in a rut for the longest time.

Just recently, she came back into my life out of nowhere, claiming that she was trying to get me jealous to found out my true intentions by going off with someone else. Now she knows what she's not to do.

And right now, I don't know how to feel about her. It's a unique feeling, and I'm sure no one feels this way about her. I've wanted to say so many things to her, like "how could she" but I still can't figure out how to do it. But I also just want to melt in her arms because she's come back into my life at a point where I've lost my way and I don't now where I'm going. She may as well be the one to help me. It's going to be a tough time trying to figure out what to do next.

I don't know if this way all ramble, but this is just how I take it. It's like a love/hate thing, looking at someone who's done you wrong, yet maybe they're the one for you.

This song means a lot to me. There's a quote out there, something to the effect of "To the world you may just be one person, but to one person you are the world." That's what this song means to me, about how "I don't think anybody feels the way I do about you now." Definitely an all time favorite of mine.

perfection of how i feel right now. I am infatuated with this guy, but i know i'll never be to him what i want to be. And the beginning of the song "I don't believe that anybody feels the way I do about you now" gives me chills. and for sure " There are many things that I would like to say to you
But I don't know how" . Those two lines sum me up completely right now. Too bad its not that easy.

To me, the song is talking about how the singer is possibly lost or broken and how the person mentioned in the song is supposed to save them. I came across this page just looking for the definition for "Wonderwall" and I'm guessing it has something to do with stability maybe? Maybe the person mentioned is supposed to be a crutch of sorts to stabilize the singer. Just my two cents.

This song is one of the best love songs of all time. It is so simple, yet so perfect. For me, it really brings me back to a past relationship. It has a way of evoking emotions in people, more than most songs written today. One of my favorite songs of all time.

so i had a teacher who everyone used to LOVE and now everyone hates her, but i had always been really close with her and it's so hard for me now because i'm torn between everyone. and she's one of those teachers who would notice if i started to go along with everyone else. this song, circuitously reminds me of her when it says

By now you shoulda somehow realized what you gotta do
I don't believe that anybody feels the way I do about you now

i just love it

As with many people, this song has a very personal meaning for me. I'll describe my own interpretation briefly. On our way home from court years ago, my big sister put on a mix CD to help us relax after one of the most emotionally trying, mentally exhausting ordeals of our young lives. This song came on, and I broke down. I realized she was my Wonderwall. No-one feels for her as I do, or ever will. And throughout our lives, time and again (and again and again and again), she has saved me. I feel that she saves me in some small way every day and I don't know how I would make it without her. It hasn't been all positive, though, with her. Such as the second verse, she fell out of favor to many during certain periods, even briefly with me, seeming not to be able to do anything right. But I was still beside her, and still loved her just the same. She will always be my Wonderwall.

this song is about loving so much you dont want to risk losing them. thus, "there are so many things i would like to say to you, but i dont know howw." he knows there is a chance losing this person therefore, he doesnt know what to do.
