Lyrics for Wonderwall as interpreted by kevin

Wonderwall Lyrics
Today is gonna be the day that they're gonna throw it back to you
By now you shoulda somehow realized what you gotta do
I don't believe that anybody feels the way I do about you now
Back beat, the word is on the street that the fire in your heart is
out
I'm sure you've heard it all before but you never really had a doubt
I don't believe that anybody feels the way I do about you now
And all the roads we have to walk are winding
And all the lights that lead us there are blinding
There are many things that I would like to say to you
But I don't know how
Because maybe
You're gonna be the one that saves me
And after all
You're my wonderwall
Today was gonna be the day but they'll never throw it back to you
By now you shoulda somehow realized what you're not to do
I don't believe that anybody feels the way I do about you now
And all the roads that lead you there were winding
And all the lights that light the way are blinding
There are many things that I would like to say to you
But I don't know how
I said maybe
You're gonna be the one that saves me
And after all
You're my wonderwall
I said maybe
You're gonna be the one that saves me
And after all
You're my wonderwall
I said maybe
You're gonna be the one that saves me
You're gonna be the one that saves me
You're gonna be the one that saves me

Well, when this song first came out, I was six, so I don't remember much. When I first heard it, though, I was in my Lord of the Rings phase, and what I heard in it was Sam talking to Frodo, and Frodo talking to Sam, just as they arrive in Mordor. *geek*
Seriously. Everything about knowing what he's gotta do and such, but especially how "and all the roads we have to walk are winding / and all the lights that lead us there are blinding" what with the walking to Mordor and the Phial of Galadriel and such.

This song always reminds me of a friend that I had (she was my best friend at one time). I gave her a chance and she blew it. The line 'I don't believe that anybody feels the way I do about you now' especially means something to me cause she let me down and I have never felt so disappointed in my life. I am sure that the song isn't supposed to be taken like that but it is what comes to mind when I hear it. I do love the song though.

to me, this song is about a person you love, obviously, but not only that, it's about a person who has been in your life for a very long time. it seems like all of the chances you have with each other you keep missing out on, or messing up, and life keeps throwing you lemons and curveballs, but in the end you know you'll make it through it all, as long as you have each other.

to me, the whole "wonderwall" thing... basically means that the person, when they're with them, acts as a barrier between the person singing and all of the shit in their life. so basically, when you are with the person you love(your wonderwall) they block everything bad out and all you see is that person and the love you share.

Who really cares about whether or not the Beatles are better than Oasis. You might think so, you might not. Everyone has their own opinion. This isn't Oasis Vs. Beatles anyhow.

I think it's easier to take the song for face value as a love song and leave it at that. Most, if not all the lyrics point to it being about a girl the writer loved, and going through all the complications of loving someone and finally naming them some nonsensical word that fits your description of true love.

i dont understand why they change from "all the roads we have to walk are winding" to "all the roads that lead you there were winding" because im sure any other band would have just left it the same. so im sure there's a reason. and also they start of with "today...." and at the end they say "and maybe youre gonna be the one to save me" and thats talking about the future. to me you have to understand this to understand the song. but i dont know, thats just me.

notuyourmate, I was'nt aware you were middle class and congratulations that you are. But why portray yourself as one spoilt mummy's credit card abuser who masturbates regularly over his sisters/aunts tennis playing 'associates etc.

sweetnspicy656, I never called this song gay, maybe you 'angrily' misunderstood as your preparing for a fight of your own?

Great song, they dont make them like this anymore.

i think this song is about breaking up with someone really close to you. the first half is the fight, and how he still loves her.
The second bit is after they've broked up.
'today is gunna be the day that theyre gunna throw is back to you' means the ball is in her court, and she knows what she has to do to save the realtionship.
HTen it goes into the past tense because she didnt do whatever ,and now they have split up. If you listen , the choruses are slightly diffferent. in the first one, they are together, but in the second one the girl is alone.
The parts that are the same reflect how hte guy still loves the girl, ie she still might be the one that saves him, and she is still his 'wonderwall'.

Gangs of sin, yes your right, I love being middle class, its brilliant! Nice cars; nice houses; nice girls and great christmas presents, its wonderwall.

You must live them, I'm really into Ryan Adams at the moment 'Amy' is another great tune by him.

sweetnspicy656, don't get the gay comment do you mean: gay as in happy; gay as in, man on man love or as a replacement of a negative verb i.e. ‘that’s so gay’ instead of ‘that’s so rubbish' or 'sounds gay to me' instead of 'sound rubbish to me'.

Probably going to get gunned to pieces on my first comment but .. have you heard the Ryan Adams version it kinda good in a blues way (not better just different).

Oh and I think wonderwall was something Lennon used to say to Yoko in stead of wonderful... That could be utter rubbish, I may just have dreamt it; I don't know. Or if somebody has said it before sorry but I'm too lazy to read all the comments to find out.

But just for the sake of some controversy I think the Gallagher brothers are chav jerks... you can take the chav out the counsel estate but you can't take the counsel estate out of the chav.

This song means so very very much to me. I've been madly in love with the same guy for 5 years and we'd be so off and on for so long. And then we broke up for a long time, and one day out of nowhere, i get this email saying "READ ME PLZ" and in it it says "i miss you, and this song made me think of you" and it was Wonderwall By Oasis. And i'd always thought oasis was good, but I never knew how incredible until I read the words to this song...but those words would be nothing without the power and love behind them. I think this song has so many different interpretations. I think its about being someone's everything. this guy is in love with this girl...and he sees that things are just not going her way thus the line "today is gonna be the day that they're gonna throw it back to you"...he's reassuring her that its gonna be okay. And he tells her "i dont believe that anybody feels the way I do about you now." and just this song is about how hard it is for someone to find that perfect person...and about being someone's everything and their whole world. Like she is his wonderwall, she is his savior because before her love, he had nothing. It's about eternal love, and how it never dies.

Its a song of great power definitely. I find myself interpreting this song in a similar fashion, its like hes approaching the finishing line with this 'wonderwall' female but he just manages to fall short or doesnt reveal its conclusion (ie a happy ending) but the song never gets depressing, just that these things happen in life however you interpret it and it's ok. Personally I can see Noel bored or out of it and staring at a wall for hours, and thought it would be funny to write a love song about his fascination with the wall hes been staring at.

I know Noel wrote this for his wife but it is so easy to interpret this song in so many ways. Here's what it means to me:

Today is gonna be the day that they're gonna throw it back to you
By now you shoulda somehow realized what you gotta do
- To me this is the singer talking to himself and the 'they' mentioned is the world, and the 'you' mentioned is himself. Ie. he has been a good person and he thought today was going to be the day the world was going to pay him back (ie. throw it back) with the love of his 'wonderwall'. However he is frustrated that he still hasn't realised what it is that he has to do to get the love of this person.

Back beat, the word is on the street that the fire in your heart is out
I'm sure you've heard it all before but you never really had a doubt
- The singer is still talking to himself, and is expressing that he is starting to doubt whether he will ever get what he wants (the love of his wonderwall). He's been through the situation so many times in his head (ie. heard it all before), but he's never really doubted that his wonderwall doesn't feel the same way.

I Don't believe that anybody feels the way I do, about you now
- This time the singer is talking to his wonderwall, expressing his love in the strongest way possible by saying it is the greatest love anyone has ever experienced.

And all the roads we have to walk are winding
And all the lights that lead us there are blinding
There are many things that I would like to say to you
But I don't know how
- The singer is arguing with his wonderwall who doesn't feel that their relationship would last. The singer acknowledges that there might be tough times ahead (ie. winding, blinding) but he just cannot express how he feels (ie. there are many things...). And how he feels is that no matter what happens, he would always stick by the side of his wonderwall, but she just can't see that he loves her that much.

Because maybe
You're gonna be the one that saves me
And after all
You're my wonderwall
- A final plead from the singer to the girl, saying that the only way he can possibly be saved from his internal hell is if his wonderwall would reciprocate his feelings. She is the cause of all his problems, but she is also the only solution to these problems.

Wonderwall
- The person who makes you feel safe, and you can look into her eyes in wonder and be astounded by the beauty of her soul.

Finally, the song shows negative overtones as evidenced by the changing of the lyrics in the second verse (ie. 'but they'll never throw it back to you'). This means even after trying as hard as he can to express his feelings for his wonderwall, she will never be able to see the depth of his affection for her, and the world will never throw it (his love) back to him.

In case you were wondering, I've listened to this song at least once a day for many years now, and this is my interpretation which has been influenced by personal experience.

Thats the thing with all oasis best songs. Noel has a talent for writing songs that everyone from all walks of life can relate to. Nothings ever really clear what he is writing about, but theres plenty of messages and emotions that people percieve differently..I'd say this is his finest moment because theres no hint of influence and the chords are so simple yet original.
