It's twelve o'clock and it's a wonderful day
I know you hate me but I'll ask anyway
Won't you come with me to a place in a little town
The only way to get there's to go straight down
There's no bathroom and there is no sink
The water out of the tap is very hard to drink
Very hard to drink
You wait til tomorrow
You wait til tomorrow

You say that money isn't everything
But I'd like to see you live without it,
You think you can keep on going living like a king,
Oh babe, but I strongly doubt it

Very hard to drink,
Very hard to drink,
You gonna wait too, fat boy,
Fat boy, wait til tomorrow,
You gonna wait too, fat boy,
Fat boy, wait til tomorrow,

You, wait til tomorrow,
You, wait til tomorrow,
You gonna wait too, fat boy,
Fat boy, wait til tomorrow,
You gonna wait too, fat boy,
Fat boy, wait til tomorrow.

General Comment:Its about a poor man bringing a rich guy (rich meaning fat boy, possibly cause hes so fat from eating all the time cause hes rich, idk) to his house and his lifestyle, (hence the first stanza) and this man doesn't want anything to do with it, or maybe doesn't think its that bad, so therefore he wants to leave, but needs to wait till tomorrow.

General Comment:Whatever it's about, it rocks. It makes me question something, espcially when he asks what we couldn't do without money. I've never thought of life's opportunity to gain wealth as a bad thing.

The passion in his voice is so deep.

General Comment:People..... dont you think that the beauty of ANY song is that we can all have our own personal meanings ???

    Think about it!

The artist could write and perform the song and it could have a meaning for him... then Me or You Or Whoever can listen to it and EACH OF US can have our own meanings

that is the beauty of song lyrics.... and this song

    General Comment:Hi guys,

QUESTION Has anybody heard of a band called Fatboy from back in the nineties , from Newcastle? Were they the rival contestants when Silverchair wrote the song?

This was back when they were the innocent criminals.

We remember that the information is that Fatboy were Silverchairs' comptetion in a comp here in newcastle back in the day when the band was still in its formative stages.

Does anyone have a comment on this information?

General Comment:The song is a reference to a trip to hell, hence the sulfurous water. The writer intends to transmit the message that the lust for money leads to this place of total boredom (hell) In which one must always remain waiting for tommorow.

Song Meaning:This is going to sound silly.
But it's about a blow job
    think about it
"won't you come with me to a place in a little town, the only way to get there is to go straight down". (in his pants) "the water out of tap is very hard to drink" (hard to drink his well "water" so to say. And the blindly obvious "fat boy" he's hard.

General Comment:what a great voice Daniel has & this song really shows it off. Hard to belive they were so young when this was recorded.

This song is about us- the developed nations- we are the fat boy.
Things cant keep going on the way they are when so much of the world is in suffering and our lives are so easy and full of surplus.

General Comment:We'll never know the intention of the writers, but to me, it is about his struggle to control his urges. Everyone has his own vice, the first verse is a justification to the rational side which need coaxed to do what he knows is wrong. the chorus is an attempt to not give in to that side. The fat boy is his excessive side, always wanting what it wants, like a child, or addict. although the hotel thing makes sense, due to his age at the time, but on that premise, so does the BJ theory. and by the way; keep the bible for your myspace page!

My Interpretation:Everytime I've heard the lyrics to this song I've always wondered what the meaning of it was. Today I when I heard the song on the radio I had an ephiphany. The message conveyed in the song brings to memory the story of Lazarus and the rich man in the Bible.

    Any thoughts?
