Lyrics for (Hurricane) The Formal Weather Pattern as interpreted by evilmprss

(Hurricane) The Formal Weather Pattern Lyrics
Shake down, you make me break, for goodness sake I think I’m on the edge of something new with you. Shout out, don’t drown the sound, I’ll drown you out, you’ll never scream so loud as I want to scream with you.

Standing there with your smile blinding your eyes from seeing my face as I’m dying to figure out a girl. But she drifts so far away, I’m on her coast, I should stay and map around your world.

So Don’t Say “These currents are still killing me” and you can’t explain how the wind went and pulled you into the hurricane.

Stand up don’t make a sound, your ears might bleed. There are sweet fluorescent enemies that live inside of me. The world moves faster than I knew, not fast enough to not creep up on you and the space we put between. So pull me under your weather patterns, your cold fronts and the rain don’t matter, because a sun burns what I needed.

You don’t do it on purpose but you make me shake now I count the hours ‘til you wake. With your babies breath, breathe symphonies, come on sweet catastrophe. Maybe this time I can follow through, I can feel complete, stop paying dues. Stop the rain from falling keep my oceans calm this time I know nothings wrong.

I have this cd and I never really listened to this song until I loaded the cd into my iPod and threw it on shuffle. This song came up and I went to change it, but it caught my ear. Kick ass song and I agree with everyone about the whole "you don't do it on purpose but you make me shake." thing. Brilliant.

I love this song. It's pure genious the way he made something like a hurricane compare to a girl. But, ?I can't say that it's the best song of SoCo's. But, it's way up there.

I love how everything about the girl seems beautiful, like how a hurricane can be in its destruction. Like the "sweet catastrophe" -- tragedy can be beautiful -- and "sweet flourescent enemies". And wow: "breathe symphonies", like everything about the girl is so wonderful even she breathes splendor.

Can relate to "Maybe this time I can follow through / I can feel complete / Stop paying dues / Stop the rain from falling / Keep my oceans calm / This time I know nothing's wrong", and love the piano solo part, the second time when the drums come in.

Great song

I love this song, this is my favorite song, I absolutely am intrigued by the piano solo by Andrew McMahon, Something Corporate is amazing.
It's cliched, but quite accurate.

we all agree Hurricane is amazing, along with everything Something Corporate. but the purpose of this site is to post ur opinion of the SONG MEANING. so if anyone actually knows or has an opinion about the meaning to this song... say it instead of about the last time u saw them in concert. there are only 2 decent posts which are both from a while ago. cause come on, we all love this song, but wouldent u like it so much better to know what the lyrics u sing actualy mean?

When I first heard this song, everything inside me was glowing. I guess what it means could depend on YOU. If you want it to mean like a love quarell, thats your interputation. To me, tho, well its like new found love, that they're (or he) is still trying to figure out. It's actually my song for this guy, we were holding hands when i let him hear this. The part that goes "you dont do it on purpose..." with the piano, is really special to me. Thats when I fell inlove with this boy. Oh and thats when i absolutely fell inlove with SoCo and became my fav. band. Im so inlove with Andrew McMahon. And the boy i like right now (the one i know in person, atleast) reminds me of Andrew. For some strange reason. Anyway, so yeah. The song to me is about new found love and just being pulled into his hurricane. Or my hurricane, or whatever. And we're still trying to figure out this feeling. So, until they announce what it meant to them (soco) , it will be our own interputation of the song. Who knows, Josh could've written Hurricane while he was thinking of food, or a car. (prob. not tho)

I absolutely love these lyrics:
"so pull me under your weather patterns,
your cold fronts and the rain don't matter
'cause the sun burns what i needed"

They are so cleverly written.
To me, this song is about being hesitant about a new relationship, but jumping into it nonetheless. He is willing to take a risk with this girl.
Such a good song :)

I think this song is about falling in love...you know a hurricane being the metaphor...i love the piano part it is sooo beautiful...my favorite part is
"You don't do it on purpose
But you make me shake
Now I count the hours 'til you wake
With your baby's breath
Breathe symphonies
Come on sweet catastrophe"

my bf used to quote that all the time

Actually, I think this song is about a literal hurricane. In an interview Josh said he wrote this song about an Oceanography class he took in college. He said it was a class which 350 people signed up for but only he and 6 others showed up for. It's about the true beauty of a hurricane, when you see past all the destructiveness. But what he does is he compares a girl to this hurricane. Most people just see this girl as wreckless and destructive but he sees through all of that and realizes how beautiful she(and the hurricane) really is.

I think that this song is one of the greatest lyrically and instrumentally of their music. Even though it's not in key, the way it meshes together is perfect. They way it's the beginning and there is an expectation for greatness is this feeling that everyone experiences at teh beginning of a relationship. It's the perfect song. :]
