hello everyone, actually i wanted to comment on PANTALLLIca. reallly, hitler hated the press very badly. he even mentioned that in his autobiography, which i read. so, naturally, the nazis hated the press too. and i like the idea of having a neo nazi gruppe banging my fav. heavy metal. and, by the way, i'm from india, the country that shared its aryan-hood with germany

Absolutely great song, and good for a lot of things. ^.~ And just because it says "You hate.." in the English version does not mean that's the translation. But everyone's already cleared this up, so anyway. I definitely prefer this version over the English one.

oh.. my dear gotterdom. You wrote: "if anyone reading this knows any german, they know that HAST does not mean HATE. Hasse means Hate, Hast means HAVE" . If YOU know any german, you know that HAST is second conjugation form of two verbs: haben(infinitve) = have and hassen(infinitve) = hate. [ hasse is first conjugation form of "hassen" :P ].
I think, "Du hast" is quite cool (:P).
And it's about love and hate;)

and I also made a mistake:P hast is second conjugation of haben and hasst is second conjugation of hassen :P That's clear now;). And translation is based on one simple thing :P pronaucation of "hast" is nearly identical as pronoucation of "hasst" :). And it's wonderful play on words by Rammstein :D.

There is another sort of double meaning here. If the line is read as "Tod der Scheide" it would be "until the death of the vagina" and not "until death, which would seperate" ("Tod, der scheide"). The whole song is a play on German wedding vows (Wollen Sie einander lieben und achten und die Treue halten bis dass der Tod euch scheidet? - Do you want to love and respect each other and to remain faithful, until death seperates you?). Instead of answering with "Ja," Till says "Nein," finally answering the question he said nothing to in the beginning."

Thank you, herzeleid.com.

i guess everyone by now knows the song is about a wedding and the guy says no at the alter. anyways i wanted to post just to say how much i hate this song, not because i dont love the song but because rammstein has been made infamous in canada becuase of it and because of their bad rep ive only successfully converted one of my buddies to rammstein fandom.

Okay, what is with people saying that this means you hate? When you translate the song in context "hate" does NOT fit in.

Don't you just hate that whole 'I r cleverer than thou argument'......
Its a very good song, great to dance to or mosh to or have sex to ;) and rammsteins double meanings give it great depth.
You all need to take yourselves a great deal less seriously. Also, German is a much easier language to leanr than French, so I'm happy.

I like this better in German, even though my own language is English. I'd rather they didn't change it to You Hate. I do know what the words in the song mean. I always look into things to make sure I don't go around spouting BS. For example: No, Till doesn't sing in the German Barbie Girl, even if half the people who listen to it believe that.

That music video was horrible!

1. Who was the person burning, and why was he walking around, and 2. Why did he blow up his car when his girlfriend/wife was sitting there?

Anyways, I love this song... I looked for this CD at a store, but they didn't have it... Does anyone know if it's actually

Du
Du hast
Du hasst mich
Du hast mich gefragt
Du hast mich gefragt und ich hab nichts gesagt

I dunno... Dumb play on words...

The video...

I guess its something like this:
The wife/girlfriend whoever thru some long course of time has turned our hero against some old friends of his... And quite possibly the hero of ours didn't know that the people he was going to kill were his friends, but his wife/girlfriend knew... thus showing this particular girl in evil light, using her man for whatever selfish purpose she has...

The guy after going into the shack realizes that all this is a trick and these were his pals... The person burning inside probably portrays the fact that they are burning and destroying the misunderstanding and slander that has happened between them...

and in the end he blows up the girl, she realizes the game is up the moment she sees her man walking out with the other guys... i think this is it...

You.
You have.
You have me.
You have asked me.
You have asked me and i've said nothing.

Do you want "til death do us part?"
To be faithful to her forever?

NO

Do you want "until death do us part"?
"In sickness and in health?"

thats a damn good translation if I do say so myself lol

-If u go by "u have me" it has something to do with
wedding vows.
-gefragt turns "du hast gefragt" to "You have asked me" so "You hate asked me" makes absolutely no sense whatsoever.
-"Willst du bis der od euch scheide
Treu ihr sein fuhr alle tage" translates to "Will u until death does u apart be true to her on all days?"
-"Willst du bis zum tod der scheide
Sie lieben auch in schlechten Tagen" translates to "Will u 'till the death of the slit (vagina), love her, even in bad times?"

Regardless of this song's meaning, it still kicks ass.

That doesnt mean that that i consider "u hate me" to be absurd. There's a huge chance that there's a double meaning to this song. That's just my opinion.
