It's in the paper every day
You see it in the headlines and you feel so sick
As another life leaves this world - this world so full of hate - but short!
Short on compassion, short on humanity
Asking myself in vain, shaken by the shock?
"Do we even have a chance?"

CHORUS:
I don't want to die
I don't want to kill
I don't want to kill
I don't want to die
We are all human
It's time to prove it
(repeat)

This is a plea for peace (world peace)
To the oppressors of the world (and to?)
To the leaders of nations,
Corporate profit takers,
To the every day citizen
Greed, envy, fear, hate - the competition has to stop!
When you see someone down - now is the time to pick 'em up
Set our difference aside and never look back!

CHORUS:
I don't want to die
I don't want to kill
I don't want to kill
I don't want to die
We are all human
It's time to prove it
(repeat)

Isn't everybody tired of the fighting?
Isn't everybody tired of the Killing?
Isn't everybody tired of the Dying?
Hatred? Violence? Fighting? Killing? Dying?

And so even though we face the difficulties of today and tomorrow,
I still have a dream
we will be able to speed up that day when all of God's children,
black men and white men
Jews and Gentiles, Protestants and Catholics, will be able to join
hands and sing
"Free at last, free at last.
Thank God Almighty, we are free at last."

CHORUS:
I don't want to die
I don't want to kill
I don't want to kill
I don't want to die
We are all human
It's time to prove it
(repeat)
We are all human
It's time to prove it
We are all human

Song Meaning:The main topic of this song is humanity. If we all show our humanity there's no such things as discrimination and eventually wars. The lyrics are very pacifistic. They tell the people to show their humanity, end wars and stop the killing. And I personally (as a vegan and animal rights activist) think that they might also refer to speciesism because in a slaughterhouse there happens the exact same thing as in a war: mass murder. The lyrics also contain an excerpt of Martin Luther King's speech "I have a dream". This excerpt is about the equality of all humans whatever their skin colour or religion is. At last everyone's free.
Typical Anti-Flag song that's full of criticism.

General Comment:...What the?...Most of you don't even know what Anarchism is, so stop pretending. I'm actually an anarchist, and I can assure you that anarchism and nihilism (which you are confusing it with) are not at all the same thing. Anarchists recognize that freedom without socialism is privilege and injustice, but socialism without freedom is slavery and brutality.

Anarchism can loosely defined as stateless socialism or stateless communism. Its end is the maximization of autonomy and equality.

I had assumed that Anti-Flag fans would know their shit. Guess not.

General Comment:Anti-Flag defy all the stereotypes on punk rock. People think its all about wanting anarchy, drinking, chaos and other rubbish. These guys sing about real issues.

General Comment:One of the best songs I've ever heard, but I don't think Anti-Flag is promoting anarchy.

General Comment:Nevermind, there is a different word for changing the government, I'm not sure what it is but i guess socialism.

General Comment:Anarchy can either mean to overthrow the government or to just change it. (I think)

General Comment:haha, wow. i said they seem very SIMILAR. not the SAME. Yeah, that may be true for a very generic definition of socialism and anarchy... but many anarchist intelletcuals ascribe themselves to "anarcho-syndacalism", which is as they call it a "voluntary socialism". This basically entails a collective with rules and what not, but with no central establishment. Kinda like the Kibbutzium in Israel, which are on the unfortunate decline due to the militarization of the country. But, either way my point is there are very many similarities between the two ideas, especially in ideals and values.
