Breadfan
Open up your mind
Open up your purse
Open up your vault
Never, never gonna lose it

Breadfan
Take it all away
Never give an inch
Gotta make a mint
Gotta make me a million

Breadfan
You got it wrong
Some long time friend's gonna lose it
In the end who's a fool

Seagull
Give it all away
Stay a bird
Stay a man
Stay a ghost
Stay what you wanna be

Loser
Give it all away
Never stay with the winner
With the man
With all the filthy money

Come on
Keep it on the side
With a ride
On a record on the top
If you're gonna be a bad boy

Breadfan
You got it wrong
Some long time friend's gonna lose it
In the end who's a fool

Seagull
Give it all away
Stay a bird
Stay a man
Stay a ghost
Stay what you wanna be

Breadfan
Open up your mind
Open up your purse
Open up your bones
Never, never gonna lose it

Breadfan
Take it all away
Never give an inch
Gotta make a mint
Gotta make me a million

Breadfan
You got it wrong
Some long time friend's gonna lose it
In the end who's a fool

Seagull
Give it all away
Stay a bird
Stay a man
Stay a ghost
Stay what you wanna be

Mommy, where's Fluffy?

General Comment:holy crap! nobody here knows wtf they're talking about. first read the lyrics, credits and all. if youre any kind of a metallica fan you'll know this is one many songs on a 2 disk set of covers, some recorded in the bands earlier days, mostly disk 2, and some recorded in the studio before the set came out. they covered these bands to 1. show who influenced them before they were real big and 2. by putting them all on one set no one can accuse them of not being original on their own studio albums. but yeah this song is about a foolish greedy person.

General Comment:Written by Budgie, It is reffering to corrperate music that is only trying to make money.....like My Chemical Romance, and basically all Rap.

Metallica recorded it during the 'Justice' album, it was released on one of the Justice singles and Garage Inc as well, they would ironically be accused of selling-out some years later.

BTW the entire 2nd CD of Garage Inc is past covers, it is clearly labled if you own the actual CD

General Comment:It's funny to read these comments who think this song was first released on Garage Inc. This song was actually the B side to the "Eye of the Beholder" single from the Justice album. I think 88 or 89. I know this because I bought it. Mullet and all...

Still a great song after all these years. Its definitely about someone who is greedy. The reference to "seagul" may be about the bird. What do they do? They sit around waiting for something to turn up. Scavange or steal their food.

    General Comment:Oh... I almost forgot..
The idea of the band (Metallica) Producing the Covers was to pay Homage to the Orginal Bands! It was there way to say

"Thanks Guys, Because it was you guys that made us this fucking crazy, And to be influenced to write(later on) our own material"

IT WAS NOT or ever was, to Rip them off! or to make a fast buck!

General Comment:Time to chime in me thinks..
To the dude that stated that Metallica are hippocrits for releasing a song about "Greed" when they them selves are NOW rich is short sited!! The song was produced by Metallica Loooooong before they where rich!! At this time very few people still never knew who Metallica even fucking where!, It wasnt till the Justice Album that Metallica made there name common... Prier to that, It was us young bangers in the back rooms slammin out Ride the Lightning or Kill em all!!!!

And The intire "Garage" CD release was a spin-off of the Original LP way back in the 80s (Garage Days Revisited) ...The name revisited was a slant on RE-used, or RE-written... The original concept LP was totaly filled with copied artists previous Work. James him self states this some where.... I'd be fucked if I recall where.

    Long live Metal
