Lyrics for Blitzkrieg as interpreted by elmoz

Blitzkrieg Lyrics
GARAGE INC. (1998)

(Jones, Smith, Sirotto)
Originally recorded by Blitzkrieg in 1981

Let us have peace, let us have life,
Let us escape the cruel knife
Let us have time, let the sun shine,
Let us beware the deadly sign

The day is coming
Armageddon's near
Inferno's coming
Can we survive the blitzkrieg?
the blitzkrieg?
the blitzkrieg?

Save us from fate, save us from hate,
Save ourselves before it's too late
Come to our need, hear our plea,
Save ourselves before the earth bleeds

The day is dawning
The time is near
Alien's calling
Can we survive the blitzkrieg?

blitzkrieg is a german word, literally translated it means "lightning war"...this was a technique used by both germans and russians in world war 2 if im correct...it basically destroyed everythign in the paths of the enemy as they retreated, therefore leaving the land devastated. just interesting to know...lol

Blitzkrieg is the art of warfare where you attack rapidly, penetrating the enemy lines and crushing his armies before he can react, hitting him with both tanks and aircraft, leaving the slowmoving infantry to mop up the remains

well i thought Blitzkrieg was the name the Germans gave to their rapid advance accross Europe in WW2. not sure what its significance is in this song.

yeah realised that after i wrote that...got confused with scorched earth...sorry! well it is still lightning war...so perhaps its saying that when armageddon comes it'll be too fast for us to do anything...thats why we gotta see if we'll survive, cos we wont be able to fight it...which would follow with the whole doomsday thing huh...

or, another thought, maybe they use "lightning war" cos of the whole natures fury thing...perhaps saying that when the end comes, it will be because of nature self-destructing, rather than anything us humans do...

The blitzkrieg was the German tactic of WW2, where the country was overrun as fast as possible (Hence the name meaning "Lightning War"). Haven't heard Metallica's version, only the original by Blitzkrieg- still, an excellent song whoever's playing!

Exp- you must be pretty retarded yourself, or unable to read the notes on album sleeves.

Metallica covered "Helpless", "It's Electric", "Am I Evil?" and "The Prince" by Diamond Head. Blitzkrieg recorded this song and released it as the b-side on their 1981 single "Buried Alive". Either you have misread something or are just stupid; whichever it is, I am right and you're not.

BlitzKreig is German for Lightning War which was the Doctrine of Attack for them until they became in a defensive state but they would all attack at once with Infantry, the Luftwaffe and Tanks all in Unison and would pretty much destroy anything and when they came to an obstacle they would quickly flow around it then proceed after desroying it from behind. It was a much different type of war than the world was used to e.g (world war 1 where they stagnated in trenches then would make a melee attack on the enemy trench). The main reason it was so effective was becuase it was a new type of warfare. Just telling everyone that bit of history na the songs meaning is pretty obvious.

Few things to clear up.

1. This song was originally performed by Blitzkrieg, not Diamond Head. You can download an mp3 from their website (www.blitzed-alive.com), and if you think this is by Diamond Head, you are clearly an idiot, as on hearing the original it's bloody obvious. When Blitzkrieg play it live these days, Brian Ross replaces the lyric 'Aliens calling' to 'Metallica's calling', as the royality payments have helped him keep the band going. And they are bloody good.

2. The song is about an alien invasion, not the Nazis, it was as far as I know deemed a suitable word. Or at least this is an explanation that allows them to play in Germany more often, after problems with this in the mid 1990s.

3. The definitive version? The one on Blitzkrieg's 1985 album, A Time of Changes.
