Lyrics for Am I Evil? as interpreted by elmoz

Am I Evil? Lyrics
GARAGE INC. (1998)

(Tatler, Harris)
Originally recorded by Diamond Head in 1982

My mother was a witch, she was burned alive.
Thankless little bitch, for the tears I've cried.
Take her down now, don't want to see her face.
All blistered and burned, can't hide my disgrace.

Twenty-seven, every one is nice,
Gotta see 'em, make 'em pay the price,
See their bodies out on the ice,
Take my time...

Am I Evil?
Yes I am
Am I Evil?
I am man, yes I am

As I watched my mother die, I lost my head
Revenge now I sought, to break with my bread
Takin' no chances, you come with me
I'll split you to the bone, help set you free

Twenty-seven, every one is nice,
Gotta see 'em, make 'em pay the price,
See their bodies out on the ice,
Take my time...

Am I Evil?
Yes I am
Am I Evil?
I am man, yes I am

On with the action now, I'll strip your pride
I'll spread your blood around, I'll see you ride
Your face is scarred with steel, wounds deep and neat
Like a double dozen before ya, smell so sweet

Am I Evil?
Yes I am
Am I Evil?
I am man

I'll make my residence, I'll watch your fire
You can come with me, sweet desire
My face is long forgot, my face not my own
Sweet and timely whore, take me home

Am I Evil?
Yes I am
Am I Evil?
I am man

My soul is longing for, await my heir
Sent to avenge my mother, sleep myself
My face is long forgot, my face not my own
Sweet and timely whore, take me home

Am I Evil?
Yes I am
Am I Evil?
I am man

Am I Evil?
Yes I fuckin' am
Am I Evil?
I am man... yeah!

They play the intro with guitars instead of whatever they used in the original

Anyone who likes the cover should check out Diamond Head. They were one of the Metallica's biggest influences in their earlier days. I got a most of the better songs on KaZaA and a very fast connection.

I haven't heard the Diamond Head version, but this one's pretty good! I love that short solo at 1:20 of the song. One of my favorite songs in this album.

The intro of this song kicks ass. If I'm not mistaken, I think it's the "Mars" theme from Gustav Holst's "The Planets". I haven't heard the Diamond Head version yet, though.

I've always thought this song was about a boy whose mother was convicted of being a witch and killed. He figures that since his mother was evil, then he must be evil too and might as well live up to it by doing evil things and getting revenge.

Yeah, I think it's about a guy whose mother was a witch and burned for her "crime". He thought that since she was supposedly evil, he likely was as well and went around doing a bunch of wicked things in an attempt to avenge his poor mommy's death. I like this song 'cuz I know a lot of people who wonder if they're evil.

His mother was a witch. He then, must be a son of evil(or satan, depending where the story take place). He doesn't understand that at first: Am I Evil? Yes I am, Am I Evil, I am Man, Yes I am.
Apparently he went psycho, or thought that the bullshit was actually real. So taking no chances, he has to live up to his name. So he took out an entire village.

It seems wierd to me that this song was originally sung by D.H. because James' mother was a "christian scientist" so they didn't believe in modern medicine (hence the witch). She got cancer and died b/c they wouldn't treat her (burned alive)
