I'm not afraid of anything in this world
There's nothing you can throw at me that I haven't already heard
I'm just trying to find a decent melody
A song that I can sing in my own company
I never thought you were a fool
But darling, look at you
You gotta stand up straight, carry your own weight
These tears are going nowhere, baby

You've got to get yourself together
You've got stuck in a moment and now you can't get out of it
Don't say that later will be better now you're stuck in a moment
And you can't get out of it

I will not forsake, the colors that you bring
But the nights you filled with fireworks
They left you with nothing I am still enchanted by the light you brought to me
I still listen through your ears, and through your eyes I can see

And you are such a fool
To worry like you do I know it's tough, and you can never get enough
Of what you don't really need now... my oh my

You've got to get yourself together
You've got stuck in a moment and now you can't get out of it
Oh love look at you now
You've got yourself stuck in a moment and now you can't get out of it

I was unconscious, half asleep
The water is warm till you discover how deep...
I wasn't jumping... for me it was a fall
It's a long way down to nothing at all

You've got to get yourself together
You've got stuck in a moment and now you can't get out of it
Don't say that later will be better now
You're stuck in a moment and you can't get out of it

And if the night runs over
And if the day won't last
And if our way should falter
Along the stony pass

And if the night runs over
And if the day won't last
And if your way should falter
Along the stony pass It's just a moment
This time will pass

Song Meaning:this song is about believing in someone through his/her deepest fall/stuckness.

pretty much something you want to say to your friend after their hard breakup.

This song was written by Bono, to honor his friend from INXS, and won a grammy in 2002...this is not the song by Bourbon Legends...I love BONO and U2, and this song helps me too.

And maybe your heard it earlier because it was done in 2002.....thanks.

General Comment:To all the people that are saying that the words in the song arent good things to say to a suicidal person, remember this. Bono never did get to speak with hutchence. This whole "discussion" he is having is fake. At the point Bono wrote it. The song was very likely a coping tool for himself. He felt just a little selfish that his friend was gone. People do not always consider they live their lives for others too and sometimes that thought in itself is overwhelming.

    General Comment:
Would this be the best thing to say to a person considering suicide?

    You gotta stand up straight
    Carry your own weight
These tears are going nowhere, baby...

And you are such a fool
    To worry like you do...

You've got to get yourself together...

And when he says at the beginning:

I'm not afraid of anything in this world
There's nothing you can throw at me that I haven't already heard...

Is Bono saying, "well I doing great, you should be too"

General Comment:This song would actually not help anyne clinically depressed. For them it is NOT "just a moment." But for anyone ho's just going through a rough time, this is a great pick-me-up.

The song was written for Michael Hutchence, a man I deeply admire, but Bono once said tht the argument he has in the song, he's having with himself as well.

I've nticed it's written in a sort of conversation between friends.

1- I am not afraid of anything in this world. There's nothing you can throw at me that I haven't already heard. (at the end of it all) I'm just trying to find a decent melody, a song that I can sing in my own company. (just trying to get on with life, though it's hard)

2- I never thought you were a fool... but darling, look at you! (in disbelief that the friend would talk this way- I find it humourous that he called another man "darling" :P ) You gotta stand up straight, carry your wn weight. These tears are gong nowhere, baby! (What's the use in moping whwhen you can do something! Just get through it! You've got to get yourself tgether, you've got stuck in a moment and you can't get ut of it. Don't say that later will be better, now youre stuck in a moment and youcan't get out of it. (Get out of this rut ad you'll be fine!)

1- I will not forsake the colors that you bring. The nights you flled wth fireworks they, they left me with nothing. (You brought me joy, but I lost it in the morning) I am still enchnted by the light you brought to me. Listen through your ears, and through your eyes I can see.(I remember how wonderful those days were. Now only a memori's left.)

2- You re such a fool, to worry like you do! I know it's tough, and you an never get enough of what you don't raly need now.. my oh my! (Dont worry, it'll all turn out right in the end! You don't need to see the future. Just go with the flow!) You've got to get yourself together, you've got stuck in a moment and you can't get out of it. Don't say that later wil be better, now you're stuck in a moment and you can't get out of it.

1- I wasuncncius, half asleep... the water is warm til you discover how deep. (Reality was like a jolt to me. I felt comfortable until life became too much to handle.) I wasn't jumping, for me it was a fall It's a long way down to nothing at all. (Falling into the pit of depression, burdened by life)

2- You've got to get yourself together you've got stuck in moment and you can't get out of it. Don't day that later will be better now you're stuck in a moment and you can't get out of it. And f the night runs over... and if the day won't last... (if the darknss overtakes you) and if your way should falter, along that stonypass, it's just a moment! THIS TiE WIlL PASS! (You WI get through this rough patch)

The video should have acted out this exact coversation. I don't like either version of them.

General Comment:This song touches a soft part in my heart everytime I get to listen to it. Getting stuck in a moment regardless if it's good or bad is something we either want to just pass or embrace. I dedicate this song to Jake who made me fell in love with this song even more.

General Comment:I don't think this is necessarily about a relationship, I think this song is gently encouraging people to "move on" and "get over it". Maybe a tip of his hat to those in our society who feel compelled to blame their troubles on others and treat them poorly instead of looking inward at their own motivations and actions. At the root of your motivations lies the reasons for what you do on a daily basis. Your true intentions and if you are being honest with yourself you know what those intentions are. To live and let live, to live a life that harms others or whatever the case may be. Of all the little moments that make up your life there could potentially be a few moments that hold you back and because you wish not to examine yourself or your beliefs it is somehow easier to get stuck in either grief or loss ... even hate. To truly enjoy your life, friends and family you must not dwell on those who do not follow your path or that you simply can't see eye to eye with. The lyrics are encouraging the person not to be stubborn but to overcome the sorrow or trauma so they can live a full and happy life in peace.

General Comment:The last two lines are so powerful:

    It's just a moment
    This time will pass

Gives me chills whenever I hear it.
