Lyrics for Nothing Else Matters as interpreted by elmoz

Nothing Else Matters Lyrics
METALLICA (1991)

(Hetfield, Ulrich)

So close no matter how far
couldn't be much more from the heart
forever trusting who we are
and nothing else matters

never opened myself this way
life is ours, we live it our way
all these words I don't just say
and nothing else matters

trust I seek and I find in you
every day for us something new
open mind for a different view
and nothing else matters

never cared for what they do
never cared for what they know
but I know

so close no matter how far
couldn't be much more from the heart
forever trusting who we are
and nothing else matters

never cared for what they do
never cared for what they know
but I know

never opened myself this way
life is ours, we live it our way
all these words I don't just say

trust I seek and I find in you
every day for us something new
open mind for a different view
and nothing else matters

never cared for what they say
never cared for games they play
never cared for what they do
never cared for what they know
and I know
YE-YEAH!!!

so close no matter how far
couldn't be much more from the heart
forever trusting who we are
no nothing else matters

I was wondering the same thing, a funny thing happened the other day, my boyfriend made me listen to the song and told me to listen to the words, he then said he wanted this to be our wedding song.... can you just imagine....hahaha. it is a good song, but just not wedding material.... So what is it about???????

I'm not a huge Metallica fan.. But I do like this song quite a bit..

Does the beginning bit with the guitar remind anyone else of Pink Floyd?

hey everyone metallica is my favorite band this song james wrote about his girlfriend. He wrote it because he was missing her he had been on the road all the tiem and didn't get to see her very much. James did not want this song on the black album but the rest of the band loved it so the put it on.

The best love song ever written - and the word 'love' isn't mentioned once - Oh and I'm getting married in six weeks time and I we are having the S/M version for when we walk leave after signing the register - How cool is that!

I think this song can be a love song, and it applies very well, but not necessarily. I think it is talking about making decisions with another person (probably love-related) and the speaker telling them to not worry about what others think because it's what they think that matters.

Tis a love song... no doubt.. it doesn't need the word "love" in the lyrics to be about love... It's the straight forward feeling you get form the words, and how he sings them... You can tell that he's singing to someone who means just an incredible amount to him, someone that he misses...

ADMM85- lol... I've been trying to get my gf to accept this as "our song" she insists we get one... and I can't stand the poppy junk she suggests... I think I almost have her for it.... and about the wedding song... My older cousin and his bride actually had an acoutic version of the song played during their ceremony... it was funny... I was up in the balcony taping, and it started playing.... I was sittin there singin along... They also danced to it for their special dance at the reception...

According to allmetallica.com, Jaymz wrote this song about his girlfriend, but when he looks back he can't remember why. Today he just thinks of it as a song about his fans.

I can also agree on the idea of hell I call my head and Wesley 9 on how it doens't matter what other people think as long as you're what you want to be.

Definatly, I always thought this song was written just for the fans. James's song writing ability is phenominal, it's too layered to really understand what HE is thinking.

this song is about the prosperity and preservation of human friendship, and that's all that matters, no matter what kind of personality you have the need for companionship is always there, lover, friend, or relative.

First of all, this is a great song.
Secondly, "no one important", you are so fucking ignorant. Just because a guy is in tune with his feelings, and man enough to admit that, does not make him gay. And even if he is gay, what would be so wrong with that? How old are you, anyway? Twelve? Grow the fuck up, and get back to me when you do.
And to "hell_i_call_my_head", I think it's cool of you to admit you cried. I did too, but according to some ignorant folk, that's probably ok because I'm a chick.

I like this song, but the only thing about it that confuses me is whether to think about it as a "I won't listen to you; I'll do as I want" thing or a love song. Either way I still like it

Hrm, that's odd. I read somewhere this song was about James' grandmother, and something about:
so close no matter how far
couldn't be much more from the heart
forever trusting who we are
no nothing else matters

were partly her last dying words.

This is one of the most beautiful and meaningful love songs I've ever heard. It always struck me as speaking to his love and wanting to rebel against teh rest of ther world with her. This is not sappy or anything, it just rules. I wish I could voice my emotions the way this song does.

Cmoore- your interpretation is what it sounded like to me.

I can relate to every word of this song.

'No one important'- You need to fuck off,. Stop trying to prove you're own superiority and find something thats important to you. Open your fuckign mind. This is a very powerful song and 'Hell I call my head' obviously understands its message. I know this song relates to experiences in my life and thats where the emotion comes from. That's what music is for. If you think tears are a sign of weakness, then what can be said about your meaningless insults?

This is one of the most, if not THE most, amazing song I have ever heard in my entire life. I almost cry when I hear it, I'm just too embarrassed to. It has a very personal message to me and it'll just hurt me to try to explain it.

"No one important" sucks.
