    General Comment:NONONONONOOOOO!!!!!! does nobody know that U2 is a christian band?! arg! I mean, almost any God loving song can be taken as a love song...but still! one of you mentioned it's about a girl letting material things get in the way, that is very true. we all let material thing get in the way of God's love. Right? right. Peace, love, robots.

    General Comment:Sometimes i forget just how good U2 is. And i wonder "why don't i listen to them more often ? " I did just that last Friday at work and said to myself, I'm gonna import all of U2's Cd's onto my Ipod. In the process of doing this i played this song. and i thought "i need to express to the world how good i think this song and this band is." it is most definitely a love song, but what an incredible and passionate expression of a love song ! Many love songs are cloyingly syrupy. "All I want is you" is exactly the opposite. It rolls along like a river flowing past.

    Memory: I think snowballz and eirie nite shade pretty much sumed it up. I saw the making of this video and bono stated that it parralyzes the song, and i always thougt the trappez artist died or his love for her died. Its a beautiful, bare, and intreging song. It may be one of the greatest songs ever made(or the best) I remember when i was a little boy, crying as i watched the video. (I felt so sorry for the dwarf)but he had good taste she looked good siting on that swing I belive it's about two people that love each other very much, but are afraid to commit to one another because of all the broken promises and silly things that didn't mean much to the narrater, so he's simply saying I DONT CARE ABOUT THOSE THINGS I LOVE YOU FOR WHO YOU ARE NOT WHAT YOU ARE and he felt like all they needed was eachother for their love to work out right. but she couldn't see past that so his love for her failed to exhist.

    General Comment:The lyrics tells you of this woman, whose being loved unconditionally ....she's had broken relationships in the past and now that she's found this really great guy who she loves, (or thinks she loves, since he's a great guy) she keeps reassuring him of herself by having alot to say, including her little secrets... hoping someday he'd wear her a wedding ring .....

    Through the lyrics, he knows that promises are meant to be broken, and it's also possible she's had similar experiences in the past, having never really learn t from her mistakes (by expecting) .... but all he really has to say is "All he wants is HER" (unconditionally)

    (Go with the flow honey, take it easy, feel every bit of it)

    General Comment:i don't think it's about obsessive love, or lust.. i think someone was right when they said it's questioning whether we can "love within our restraints", that was very insightful...

    but i think that, quite simply, it's just about love. love at its most innocent.

    "you say you want..." all these grand, beautiful, tragic things
    "you say you'll give me..." tall promises

    They promise him the world, never knowing that they are the world to him.

    as for what i think this song means...it's about a girl not understanding true love...she's offering the guy material possessions and asking for material things in return...when all he wants is for to understand it's not what love is...love is wanting the person...

    *shrug* a bit brief...
