Lyrics for Turn The Page as interpreted by nikuku

Turn The Page Lyrics
On a lonely lonesom highway
east of Omaha
You can listen to the engine moanin'
Out his one long song
You can think about the woman
Or the girl you knew the night before

And your thoughts will soon be wandering
The way they always do
When you're riding sixteen hours
and there's nothing much to do
You don't feel much like ridin'
You just wish the trip was through

Here I am, on the road again
Here I am, up on the stage
Here I go, playing the star again
There I go, turn the page

So you walk into this restaraunt
Strung out from the road
And you feel the eyes upon you
As you're shaking off the cold
You pretend it doesn't bother you
But you just want to explode
Yeah, Most times you can't here 'em talk
Other times you can

Yeah the same 'ole cliches...
Is it woman, is it man?
And you always seem outnumbered
You don't dare make a stand

Here I am, on the road again
Here I am, up on the stage
Here I go, playing the star again
There I go, turn the page

Out there in the spotlight
You're a million miles away
Every ounce of energy
You try to give away
And the sweat pours out your body
Like the music that you play

Later in the evening
As you lie awake in bed
The echos of the amplifiers
Ringin' in your head
You smoke the days last cigarette
Remembering what she said
What she said

Here I am, on the road again
Here I am, up on the stage
Here I go, playing the star again
There I go, turn the page
There I go, turn the page
There I go, yeah yeah
There I go, Yeah yeah

There I go, yeah
Here I go, yeah
Here I go-oah
Here I go...

and gone.

The lyrics are wrong.

On a long and lonesome highway east of Omaha
You can listen to the engine, moaning out as one long song
You can think about the woman, or the girl you knew the night before

But your thoughts will soon be wandering the way they always do
When you're riding sixteen hours and there's nothing much to do
And you don't feel much like travelin', you just wish the trip was through

Here I am, on the road again
Here I am, up on the stage
Here I go, playing the star again
There I go, turn the page

That's when you walk into a restaraunt, strung out from the road
And you feel the eyes upon you, as you're shaking off the cold
You pretend it doesn't bother you, but you just want to explode

Yeah, most times you can here 'em talk, other times you can't
All the same 'ole cliches: is that a woman, is it a man?
And you always seem outnumbered, you don't dare make your stand
Make your stand.

Now, here I am, on the road again
There I am, up on the stage
Here I go, playing the star again
There I go, turn the page

Out there in the spotlight, your a million miles away
Every ounce of energy, you try to give away
And the sweat pours from your body, like the music that you play

Later in the evening, as you lie awake in bed
Echos of the amplifiers, ringin' in your head
As you smoke the days last cigarette, remembering what she said

Here I am, on the road again
There I am, up on the stage
Here I go, playing the star again
There I go, turn the page
There I go, turn that page
There I go, yeah, yeah
There I go, yeah, yeah
There I go, yeah
There I go, yeah
There I go, oo-oo-ooh
There I go
And I’m gone

msk941 most likely loves this song but just wanted people to say his name over and over again and how many insults he could gather in one place... a lot of people do that in the SlipKnot song pages as well... it makes them more imfamous and emphasis on the famous part.... heh... looks like we played right into that one... so for the sake of conflict...

I love you msk941.... if you're a guy its a brotherly sort of thing... if you're a girl.. i'd bang you.... but I don't agree with your post.. I like this song.... but I respect your opinion.

I haven't seen the video to this song, and am not particularly well informed...nor have I heard the original. However, my first impression was of drug abuse...'strung out from the road' the words road and trip seem to be used together, and the 'is that a woman or a man?' hinted to me that it has distorted the person so much that people whisper about them, that they have become something non human. And the chorus suggested to me that despite their best efforts, they just keep on going.

Seems to go against everyone else's (much more plausible and well informed) theories, but I thought I might add my point of view regardless. But I guess that's just me. Thanks anyway :)

I first saw this video a few years ago and thought it was really cool, but i didn't here it again for ages. Then my mate covered it at her gig and i had to get the song (and the video, and the original lol).

The Metallica cover is way better than the original, but it's good too.

This is really an awesome song. You'd have to be insane to not like it if you've heard it before. This msk941 cunt should kill himself and rid the world of his stupidity.

I love the cover a million times more than the original! Hetfield's vocals are absolutely perfect for the song, and msk941, that's just sad!

i have not heard the original version so i shall probaly download it, but i do not think the original version will be better than metallica.
do you know what else i think. msk941 is a total pile of human waste. but think of it this way, he is the one wasting his own time by saying stupid stuff, not us dudes and chicks.
the song is just basically about the way life changes when you become famous, and everything that you looked forward to is now gone cause you can almost get everything you want. so everything is now just a normal day to the singer, hense the name turn the page. meaning that its just gonna start over the next day. this song really chills me out, i hope metallica will write alot more stuff that sounds like this song.
btw, im glad nearly all of you agree with me on how great this song is, theres only msk941 who doesnt like it. wouldnt want to live his life. anyway i hope what i said helps.

This has got to be the most beautifull song I've ever heard. The guitars have such an emotion to them, ifyou know what I mean. Thick, long crackling echoes. James' voice tells a story just by his tone of voice. What's best is that it's in traditional Metallica "up up up up up downCRASH" climax-at-the-end mode, that works as great as does in "Fight Fire with Fire and "Call of Ktuhlu". I never knew it was possible to adore a song in such debth...

I actually have a question about this song which I don't know if there is an answer to just want everyone's opinion. why does the lyric say "is it woman is it man?". my first impression of the song was that it's talking about a woman on the road but then judging from the rest of the lyric its kinda hard to tell. in the video obviously they wanted the protagonist to be a woman but just wondering if thats what the lyric really means. great song by the way, this and whiskey in the jar are probably my two favorite covers in garage inc.

one of the best metallica songs i think, i love the sound of it. relates to me as well- great song. only thing i was let down about, is that i thought i was going to get through ONE entire post without reading some stupid 'this song sucks' or 'this song is shit' or anything along those lines. if you dont like the song, it takes a lot less time and energy to just not listen to it, not be stupid and do that. what a waste of time aye

OK, well I am not here to bash Bob Seger, because I like his version... but Metallica's cover is AWESOME!

And I honestly don't get why people come on and waste their time just to say something sucks?

I watched the garage inc press kit and this whole album was recorded in a few weeks. Which is amazing cause James voice sounds so awesome! Funny thing is that James HATES bob segar hahahahaa but the song is perfect for Metallica. I just love the haunting guitars and the strong vocals-this has to be one of my fave songs...
