Lyrics for Master of Puppets as interpreted by elmoz

Master of Puppets Lyrics
End of passion play, crumbling away
I'm your source of self-destruction
Veins that pump with fear, sucking darkest clear
Feeding on your death's construction
Taste me you will see
More is all you need
You're dedicated to
How I'm killing you

Come crawling faster (faster)
Obey your master (master)
Your life burns faster (faster)
Obey your master (master)
Master, master
Master of Puppets I'm pulling your strings
Twisting your mind and smashing your dreams
Blinded by me, you can't see a thing
Just call my name, 'cause I'll hear you scream
Master, master
Just call my name, 'cause I'll hear you scream
Master, master

Needlework the way, never you betray
life of death becoming clearer
Pain monopoly, ritual misery
chop your breakfast on a mirror
Taste me you will see
More is all you need
You're dedicated to
How I'm killing you

Come crawling faster (faster)
Obey your master (master)
Your life burns faster (faster)
Obey your master (master)
Master, master
Master of puppets, I'm pulling your strings
Twisting your mind and smashing your dreams
Blinded by me, you can't see a thing
Just call my name, 'cause I'll hear you scream
Master, master

Just call my name, 'cause I'll hear you scream
Master master master master master

Master, master, where's the dreams that I've been after?
Master, master, you promised only lies
Laughter, laughter, all I hear and see is laughter
Laughter, laughter, laughing at my cries

FACE ME!!!

Hell is worth all that, natural habitat
just a rhyme without a reason
Never-ending maze, drift on numbered days
now your life is out of season

I will occupy
I will Help you die
I will run through you
Now I'll rule you, too

Come crawling faster (faster)
Obey your master (master)
Your life burns faster (faster)
Obey your master (master)
Master, master
Master of puppets, I'm pulling your strings
Twisting your mind and smashing your dreams
Blinded by me, you can't see a thing
Just call my name, 'cause I'll hear you scream
Master, master

Ha- Ha- Ha- Ha- Ha- Ha- Ha- Ha

OK, first of, "oldschoolpunker," why don't you cut the crap and take your negative comments elsewhere. Second, metallica themselves have never done drugs, or have never done it to the point of addiction. To quote them from Behind the Music, they never wanted to get high, they just wanted to get drunk. They've always been ones to tackle social issues, and drugs is without a doubt one of them. Here are a few other topics they've sung about that they themselves have not personally experienced: Nuclear War, Death Penalty, War, Corruption of Government, blah blah blah. Basically, you dont have to do drugs to sing about them. Oh, and another thing....lets see....old school punk bands...lets say the Sex Pistols? Johnny Rotten, their lead singer...what did he die of? HERION OVERDOSE! So i guess he was a poser, huh? Then the Beatles would be posers too, huh?, since pretty much all of Seargent Peppers was made while they were doing drugs, as well as a lot of their other albums. I am in no way supporting drugs.....but with your close mindedness, and "FUCKING" metallica becuase you think they do drugs, well, then we'd have to fuck quite a lot of artists, now wouldn't we?

this shit is about x dawg. hammit's mom had an x addiction when hammit was still a little kid ( i think he was 9). anyway she'd leave and disco all night and come home and breast feed little hammit and he eventually became addicted to x as well. hetfeild wrote this song as a joke about hammit because he breast fed until he was 13. you welcome homies, peace ya'lls.

FizzleFry is correct, what does it matter which particular song this drug is about? It's plainly about drug addiction, and how it becomes your master. From my own knowledge about the band, I don't think they were the drug-addict type, but this doesn't matter particularly. Even though he's an idiot, daycare bwoi three posts up might be right, altho I've never heard that. Still, a song about drug addiction.

#1: to Nimrod, Johnny Rotten is still alive, it's Sid Vicious that died of an OD.
#2: This song is most certainly about drugs. The band themselves said it in an interview I read or saw, I don't remember. Ah, what a great song. An 8-minute speed metal masterpiece. And it's 100% true, that's what fuckin' happens when you do that shit. All the losers in my school do it, so it's my song for them. Plus, they're all a bunch of assholes so I take great pride in singing it. This song is the #1 reason I never did, don't do, and never will do drugs. Enough said.

"Taste me you will see,
more is all you need"

If this is indeed a song about using youth as "cannon fodder," the above line may be a reference to a government allowing youth to unleash the animosity that the government itself has buried. The crave for violence then becomes so great that they become slaves to the act, and if they are not supplied with the act soon enough, they will become reckless and eventually meet there demise on the battlefeild...

Honestly maybe the song is talking about BOTH the drug addiction and the idea of the government controlling soliders to be lead to their death.
I mean the song CAN go either way, besides, after the guitar solo, notice the words shift from an addiction to something else "Hell is worth all that, natural habitat
just a rhyme without a reason" that could be interpreted as how soliders die and fight all for nothing, and hell or war is worth almost nothing
see what I mean?
Great song, one of the best in the world!

UnForgiven is right on this one

The song itself is about drugs, the various lines like "taste me you will see, more thats all you need" - refering to an addiction
"chop your breakfast on a mirror" - cocaine
"dedicated to how im killing you" - addicted

But as UnForGiven said, its also about soldiers in the war - the chorus - master of puppets im pulling your strings can be refered to as generals pulling the strings of the soliders they are sending to die. This links in with the album cover with the stirings commring from the hands down to the graves of the soldiers, they are controling them.

One of my favourite metallica songs this is too

I think the first person persepctive in this (the "I"s and "me"s) switches between the dealer and the drug itself. I've always seen "The Master Of Puppets" being the drug dealer himself, and puppets being the addicts.

What the FUCK is worng with you guyz?! Some of you are right, while others are way off! This song is sinply about drug addiction and how drugs become the "master" of someone. Of course, the song could represent the album cover, although I think it works better for "Disposable Heros." The album cover represents the goverment and the soldiers. The Government stands for the hands with strings which are connected to the white crosses on the ground. The hands are maybe in the sky because
in the figurative sense the government stands above everything, and The government controls/pulls the strings. The Soldiers stand for the white crosses which are used for the burial of deceased soldiers of war. At the cross on the left of the cover there is an army helmet and at the cross in middle of the cover there is an army
identification tag hanging on. The high grown grass could maybe hint at that the graves are old or that the nameless soldiers are falling into oblivion. Either way, I agree with both opinions. One of my favorite songs!

I think which drug the song is about is immaterial, its basicly just describing the enslaving element of taking hardcore drugs like coke / H.

Yeah I always saw this as a song about war, not cocaine addiction, and the masses of graves on the cover just clicked. Like the Satan guy said, The government is pulling the strings in a war and leading the soldiers to death, just like they are their puppets.

I guess I am a poser. I smoke ganja all the time. I should die for my poseryness. Some people wanna do it to be cool, but many people do it because it IS. And marijuana is not addictive like coke and herion, don't get confused there.

But yeah, this is about drugs. Plain and simple.
