Lyrics for Creeping Death as interpreted by elmoz

Creeping Death Lyrics
RIDE THE LIGHTNING (1984)

(Hetfield, Ulrich, Burton, Hammett)

Slaves
Hebrews born to serve, to the pharaoh
Heed
To his every word, live in fear
Faith
Of the unknown one, the deliverer
Wait
Something must be done, four hundred years

So let it be written
So let it be done
I'm sent here by the chosen one
So let it be written
So let it be done
To kill the first born pharaoh son
I'm creeping death

Now
Let my people go, land of Goshen
Go
I will be with thee, bush of fire
Blood
Running red and strong, down the Nile
Plague
Darkness three days long, hail to fire

So let it be written
So let it be done
I'm sent here by the chosen one
So let it be written
So let it be done
To kill the first born pharaoh son
I'm creeping death

Die- Die- Die- Die- Die-

Die by my hand
I creep across the land
Killing first born man
Die by my hand
I creep across the land
Killing first born man

I
Rule the midnight air the destroyer
Born
I shall soon be there, deadly mass
I
Creep the steps and flood final darkness
Blood
Lambs blood painted door, I shall pass

So let it be written
So let it be done
I'm sent here by the chosen one
So let it be written
So let it be done
To kill the first born pharaoh son
I'm creeping death

It's not directly based on the bible. Metallica don't believe in that shit. It is, as Jiqokusabre said, based on "The Ten Commandmenst".

They were watching TV late at nite... 10 Commandments was on, they saw the fog, and one of the guys (James I believe) was like, "Whoa, creeping death!" They thought that was cool, so they went back and got the whole movie and watched it and wrote the song--twas on Behind the music.....
Necroth.... actually, James was raised a strict Christian Scientist, he started to question much of it when it allowed his father to die of cancer I believe because Chrisian Scientists believe that the body is sacred and such, and their beliefs would not allow him to get surgery that could have saved his life... but anyhow... I've read from a few places that James, and maybe Lars as well have been "born again"... take it with a grain of salt... but James did know the story from the bible....

This is an awesome live song. It's good on the album, but when it's live, you can just feel the energy pour down your spine. You don't have any control, and you can;t stop yourself from pumping your fist in the air and shouting "Die! Die!" when the time comes! Metallica at their best.

the meaning of this song is so straightforward there isn't even really any need to comment. I didn't know how they were inspired to write this song though so thanks for that info. Also, covers of Metallica songs piss me off because no one is better than Metallica, especially at there own songs. Drowning Pool is horrible compared to Metallica so don't ask for their shitty cover songs.

The song may well have been inspired by the movie The Ten Commandments, but where the fuck do you think the story came from? THE BIBLE, FUCKTARDS.

Everybody knows the story without having seen the movie, although the title almost certainly came from the movie's respresentation of the Angel of Death.

Plus, just because they wrote about a bible story doesn't make them god-botherers. They obviously just thought it was a cool story. It's like how loads of idiots thought Iron Maiden were devil worshippers because of The Number of the Beast.
