You think I'd leave your side, baby
You know me better than that
Think I'd leave you down when you're down on your knees

I wouldn't do that
I'll tell you you're right when you're wrong
And if only you could see into me
Oh, when you're cold
I'll be there, hold you tight to me
When you're on the outside, baby, and you can't get in
I will show you, you're so much better than you know

When you're lost
You're alone and you can't get back again
I'll find you, darling, and I'll bring you home

If you want to cry
I am here to dry your eyes
And in no time, you'll be fine
You think I'd leave your side, baby
You know me better than that
You think I'd leave you down when you're down on your knees

I wouldn't do that
I'll tell you you're right when you're wrong
And if only you could see into me

Oh, when you're cold
I'll be there, hold you tight to me
Oh, when you're low
I'll be there by your side, baby

Oh, when you're cold
I'll be there, hold you tight to me
Oh, when you're low
I'll be there by your side, baby

General Comment:This song reminds me of what love should be, in good times and in bad.

Soothing Sade's voice repeating you'll be fine...works perfect. A beautiful love song.

General Comment:I remember when I first heard this song! Music really can change your life. I had just moved down south I was all by myself broke and struggling. I felt so alone and I really thought I was. Then this song played out of my lil clock radio(couldnt afford a stereo) the voice and the words were tantalizing. I put it as loud as it would go.I felt like the woman singing was singing for me and the words were written just for me. When the song ended I felt comforted, assured, no longer alone, positive that I could make it and everything would be alright. I just had to hear the song again! I had to find out who that woman singing was. I researched and found out it was Sade! I took the little money I had, walked to record store, bought a boombox and her cd and carried it walking all the way home. I played that song on repeat everyday and with every note, each and everytime I played it, it comforted me. I made it through a really hard time and this song was right there with me. It touched me in a way I cant really explain. It helped me get through a tough time in my life and now it is part of my life. I will never forget the day I heard that voice and those words play out of my little clock radio.

General Comment:i think this song is clearly about love. i dont think its limited to someone your IN love with/in a relationship with. sure, it works that way. but i see it also being about friendship and family, as well.

My Interpretation:I am in long term recovery and I agree with chelles about the spirituality aspect of the song. I'm not religious, but am spiritual. I'd add to chelles statement that this song might not be so much about loving god but of god loving us. I put this one in my meditation song list. It is beautiful, and a good reminder for those times we feel more alone than maybe we are.

My Opinion:Maybe because I am in recent recovery from drugs and booze (5 months today) I here it from a spiritual point of view. I have listened to this song for years and always thought of it as a love song as well, until now. It feels like God is singing directly to me. Telling me that he still loves me, even when I didnt love him or myself. That even in my darkest moments, hes there and will never leave my side. But thats me and I think its all good. Its a song that can only make us feel good, feel love, feel! I was driving home a couple weeks ago and put the CD in and for the first time got a "God" message. I came straight home and told my hubby what the song felt like. He listened to it with me and we both cried with grattitude for my sobriety and new found love for God, Him, my kids, my life! I know its mushy-goofy stuff but after not hearing any music in any other way but dark, sad, mad or full of guilt am happy to be mushy!!!
