It's a beautiful love song, with just enough rocky bits, and for me the most poignant line is 'For you I'd bleed myself dry.' Something about that line strikes a chord with me everytime I hear it.

I've never heard the drug thing, but I doubt it. Coldplay's lead singer Chris Martin is a pretty straight-laced guy and doesn't even like to drink alcohol. So I doubt he'd write a song about drugs. Could be wrong, but those are just my thoughts.

This song is all about finding someone who makes you feel all "yellow" inside. For me "yellow" is a feeling of joy and happines.

Well the name yellow goes along with the lights to me when lights and stars shine they are yellow he is saying that his love makes him shine so its yellow. He explains how he would do anything because his lover is shining too thats why he says every thing about the love is yellow. He would do anything to see her shine.

this song is one of the most poignant love songs i've ever heard. it speaks of profound, unconditional love the guy has for his lover. like a previous user, the line 'for you i'd bleed myself dry' makes me cry. in fact, the verse after the chorus is just so heartwrenching. i don't think this is a song abt drug addiction. that'd be stripping the sadness away frm this song. 'i drew a line' can mean otherwise, ie. a boundary. similarly, 'yellow' is presents a symbolic meaning of loneliness. take a look at the video and u'll see how un-druggie it is. but well, it's open to interpretation.

first of all, this will help my explanation of my opinion, i always thought it was, "your skin, yeah, oh yeah your skin and bones, turn into something beautiful, do you know do you know i'd bleed myself dry"
It is a love song, a man is in love with this dead girl and he is willing to kill himself for her, her body is yellow and the man is obsessed with her, so everything is yellow and he misses her so much, he is just engulfed by her, women can manipulate men, eevn when they are dead.
this guy was seriously in love with this chick, then she died and he can't get over her death, it became an obsession, it kinda makes me think of a necropheliac

this is my favourite song ever, simply because of the way that Chris Martin has managed to not only write such beautiful lyrics, but also sing them with such amazing emotion and feeling. the album parachutes is also my all-time favourite, anytime i need to cry or feel depressed, i play this album. the song is, (fffffffairly obviously) about someone who is so deeply in love with a girl that he would do anything for her, and he's expressing his love. personally i would be so touched if this was written for me, i love the instrumental at the beginning too, it really sets the mood and then this is complemented beautifully by Chris. i hope that coldplay get the acclaim they deserve, and that this song goes down in history for being so amazing. i will love it forever.
