Lyrics for Comfortable as interpreted by wherewulf

Comfortable Lyrics
I just remember that time at the market
You snuck up behind me
And jumped on my shopping cart
You rolled down aisle five
You looked behind you to smile back at me
Crashed in to a rack full of magazines
They asked us if we could leave
Can't remember
What went wrong last September
Though I'm sure you'd remind me if you had to

Our love was comfortable
And so broken in

I sleep with this new girl
I'm still getting used to
My friends all approve saying
"She's going to be good for you"
They throw me high fives
She swears the bible is all that she reads
Prefers that I not use profanity
Your mouth was so dirty
Life of the party
And she swears that she's artsy
But you could distinguish Miles from Coltrane

Our love was comfortable
And so broken in
She's perfect, so flawless
Or so they say

She thinks I can't see the smile thats she's faking
And poses for pictures that aren't being taken
I loved you
Gray sweatpants
No makeup
So perfect

Our love was comfortable
And so broken in
She's perfect, so flawless
I'm not impressed
I want you back

This is one of the greatest songs I've heard. The gist of the song is pretty obvious, and its definitely something I can relate to. One thing this song always reminds of is that just because something is perfect doesn't mean it will last forever. But thats just my opinion, I could be wrong.

Lol, I wouldn't exactly say I'm a dork Rusty, but I'm definitely a John Mayer fan. And I've been told I'm a nice guy too. You say there are no nice guys out there girls? Hell, you know that line: "I loved you, grey sweatpants, no make-up, so perfect." I pretty much told a girl that word for word once and she ended up dumping me for my bestfriend. How's that for a kick in the pants?

Forgot to say something. If any of you guys really want some of John's stuff and you can't find it, let me know. I've got a bunch of concerts and every song he's done, even stuff off of his first cd. Later.

Mines pretty sketchy, that and/or lyrics? Just wondering! Hey, have any of you seen him live? He's great!

John Mayer is one of the best songwriters out there and this song is an example of what he does best. He makes his songs real to everybody. We all know this has happened to us or someone we know. For me listening to this song reminds me all to well of what me and my ex girlfriend went through and the first time i heard it the only thing that i felt was chills down my spine. Powerful and amazing are the 2 best words to describe John Mayer

I agree LiveUrLive. Powerful and amazing.

On another note, has anyone here heard of that book called "The Rules" by Ellen Fein and Sherrie Schneider? .. If you have.. isn't this song a perfect antithesis to their 'rules'?

i love the part about how his girl could distinguish between miles davis and john coltrane...classic jazz and probably 2 of the coolest musicians to ever live. if y'all like this, try 'jackopierce' and 'jack johnson'. 2 other groups that need some attention...
