Lyrics for A Street Kid Named Desire as interpreted by Kpizzle

A Street Kid Named Desire Lyrics
Well, it was punk-fifteen in the morning
And it was time to stand my ground
And as the gawks and stares bombarded me
You know, I didn't even hear a sound
No one gave a damn
If I was there or away
If I died and went to hell,
They'd throw a party on my grave
And they'd all say
"this kid is just a fool, he'll never be cool
They might as well just ship him off
to some other school"
Plain destitute
Just a little too guilty, just a little too soon
That day was just like any other day
No work, and no pay
I knew that paradise was some other place
And I'd get there another day
I will find it before I expire
'Cuz I've got the desire
Well, it was punk-fifteen in the evening
And it was time to set the town on fire
I saw my boots and my hair
As reflected in the mirror
Reveal a streetkid named desire
I didn't give a damn
Because I was just dying to be
And as the Hollywood street scene
Left its mark on me
I changed from a boy into a man
I said "never again!"
I stuck out my chin when I should have ran
Shit in the fan
I was driven so hard
By the sound of my heart
But that day was just like any other day
No work, and no pay
I knew that paradise was some other place
And I'd get there another day
I will find it before I expire
'Cuz I've got the desire
When the walls surround
In deeper shades of blue
And there's no voice of reason inside you
And you search for meaning
On an empty shelf
Then you're always dreaming
Of somewhere else
Today is just like any other day
No fear, no restraint
I know that paradise is some other place
And I will get there another day
You can come with me,
No conditions or fares
Somehow, somewhere,
I will find it before I expire,
'Cuz I've got the desire

Graffin is basically writing a auto-biography through this song.

one of my absolute favorite BR songs. its weerd, the lyrics remind me in a way of "This Is The Best Day Ever" by My Chemical Romance. Im pretty sure those lyrics are on songmeanings.net, and if they arent their on plyrics.com. Their both kinda like "someday we weill get out, we want to get out" that kinda thing... whatever

I think this song is autobiograhical in nature. Maybe talking about his life growing up as a kid.

What the fuck, the film/play A STREETCAR NAMED DESIRE isn't funny. It's a dark melodrama. Stanley Kowalski (played by Marlon Brandon) is a brutal fuck and Blanche was a slut who slept with teenagers.

Brando is still probably the best screen actor ever. RIP

I think you all should assert a better interpretation of this song. I'm not trying to be an asshole, but the song clearly is an autobiography, but it's MUCH more than that. It's about not being accepted as a kid by your peers, feeling like society gives you nothing for what you do in the world, and about being an individual and just wanting to get through adolescence without being at your wit's end. Greg's outlet for this was quite obviously punk rock.

to me, this song says alot about the constant desire to keep moving forward and setting new goals. The song follows a timeline but "like any other day" he's saying this desire is not going anywhere. "find it before I expire" seems like a mantra to keep pursuing your goals or aspirations. When you reach a milestone, you move onto your next desire.

I think it means that people don't think that much of him, but he doesn't really care. He knows that his crappy years, presumably high school, aren't going to be the best days of his life, they're not paradise, because paradise is "some other place" but he'll find something better eventually, things will look up before he dies. Oh, and I like the punk-fifteen in the morning part.

greg kinda also says to everyone how the whole groupies can laugh at you but in the end you can go your own way and show them they were wrong
