  General Comment:My thought for this song is about love making/mating which conflict on their band schedules, issues on love marriage, a little poetic form describing sex and some beautifying words on a female structure and lastly a sense of love betrayal
  
  from first verse talks about how busy they were on chosen careers. and main objective words.. "so what else could i write. what else should I be.."
  
  next verses talks about love, sex and some beautifying words on a female structure as describe in song In Bloom. "He’s the one Who likes all the pretty songs"
  
  I wish I was like you. refers to a word. I wish i was like her (it could she's strong)..
  easily amused refers to himself on funny props shows like wearing female attire w/ crown, like hospital patient attire and other funny props..
  nest of salt, aqua sea foam shame, heartshape box, open sores, stink and burn refers to female poetic words
  Sunburn of freezer burn, meat eating orchids, drain you, Chew your meat for you refers to love mating
  
  from line Choking on the ashes of her enemy, chorus and out verse refers to love marriage and sense of betrayal conclusion.

  All in all is all we are.. (repeated to 13 times on unplugged)

    Yeah I hear that too and mixed in with "allin all is all we are" is also "all alone is all we are" clearly in the lyrics talking about his marriage and life of feeling empty.

  My Opinion:I used to think this song was about how Kurt felt he was different in the music world, like saying "Sorry I'm different from how media and society wants me to be", but I just watched a youtube video of his suicide note, and this definitely has something to do with it. Just watch the video of the note and it'll start matching up the lyrics.

    well I dont know what was in his note other than the how he eluded to fading away instead of rusting, which hurt Neil Young a lot more than people think, but I always though he was saying sorry I am famous.

  General Comment:Who says songwriting, or writing poetry, is strictly an art, and not a therapy? Why can't they be both? It is bullshit to say that people who write some of the most meaningful and articulate poems, or songs, are just making art. Art is simply the process of creating something personal or different, or expressing how one feels or sees the world as it is. I'm a poet, and when I write poetry you damn right I am expressing the shit I feel. As a result, I am creating art. Art is self expression, i.e. I am expressing my self in that moment of deep sadness and sorrow or hella joy. Kurt Cobain was a song writer and deeply depressed, and, as a result, created something dark. You can't just be happy or joyful and, at the sametime, be in a mindstate to create something dark, or really depressing. It doesn't work that way unless you are being told what to create. In that case it is not art, because you are not the one creating it (or expressing your self through poem or song) for it is someone else, with money to make, using you to create a product to increase their profits.

  General Comment:this song is spooky after watching Kurt & Courtney last night. So they talk about how controling she was...Married/Buried, chocking on the ashes of her enemy (she had him cremated immediately). It doesn't mean he knew what he was writing, it's just poetic and eerie after analyzing from a historical point of view.

  General Comment:I can't help,thinkin this could be like smells like a teen spirit,where he only has a major idea,than tries to put words that rhyme in 10 mins!!!!in that song,some lines really didn't have much meaning 2 it.don't take my word 4 it,Dave Grohl said that bout smells like a teen spirit,but this song.I..maybe it is like that...

  My Interpretation:I think the song is a fictional suicide note from a fictional character that Cobain invented. For what reason does the song have to be about him? Cobain was a songwriter. He wrote songs. He did kill himself about 4 years or so after he wrote this song (Wikipedia), but over four years, becoming a rock star, dealing with press, the song is circumstantial compared to his demons with him at his death. Plus, wouldn't it be a testament to his songwriting if he wrote this when he didn't want to kill himself? I'm not sure if Paul McCartney was in love as many times as he wrote about it. Songwriting is an art, not a therapy.

    It's interesting that you bring Paul up. True, most of his songs were about love, but he wasn't in love. There have been many reports though that some of his songs were about drugs or love stories he had heard. This song does have the idea of a made up suicide note, but one can never forget, Kurt had resentment towards main stream music and the music industry itself. Although this song was written years before his death, it didn't actually surface until near recording for In Utero. And even then, the song was changed a lot. This could havve been a message to the music industry that how their attempts to ruin music with business was unwanted and needed to end soon. But the big mystery this song holds for me, it was written for Frances and Courtney. However, Kurt said the lyrics weren't for them, the mood and feeling of the song, which in his words was "Peaceful, happy, comfort" were the intended motions toward his family

    Actually the lyrics here are correct, although in some other versions Kurt has said your variations. But im pretty sure these are the official lyrics.
