Last night, she said
"Oh, baby, I feel so down
Oh, it turns me off
When I feel left out"
So I, I turned 'round
Oh, baby, don't care no more
I know this for sure
I'm walking out that door

Well, I've been in town for just about fifteen-oh minutes now
Oh, baby, I feel so down
And I don't know why
I keep walking for miles

And say, people, they don't understand
No, girlfriends, they can't understand
Your grandsons, they won't understand
On top of this, I ain't ever gonna understand

Last night, she said
"Oh, baby, don't feel so down
Oh, it turns me off
When I feel left out"
So I, I turned round
Oh, baby, gonna be alright
It was a great big lie
'Cause I left that night, yeah

Oh, people, they don't understand
No, girlfriends, they don't understand
In spaceships, they won't understand
And me, I ain't ever gonna understand

Last night, she said
"Oh, baby, I feel so down
See, it turns me off
When I feel left out"
So I, I turned 'round
Oh, little girl, I don't care no more
I know this for sure
I'm walking out that door
Yeah

so it's about a guy with a girlfriend who doesn't stop moaning, he loses patience and in the end just leaves her cos she doesn't shut up. sad? no way. funny? hell yes.

Last night she said "Oh baby don't feel so down" Way to turn me off When I feel left out So I, I turned round, "Oh baby gonna be alright" It was a great big lie 'Cause I left that night

So she's all "Oh baby I feel so down" and keeps offloading on him, telling him how she feels and stuff which wouldn't be a bad thing apart from she's always feeling bad things and OK, it is part of being in a relationship that you have to be there for your partner, listen to them and understand them and offer advice... but offloading is never a good thing and i mean it is always annoying when people don't shut up about their problems - and that's what she's doing, and he gets pissed off and leaves. the lyrics are not meant to be taken seriously, they are amusing, and the light-hearted feel of the song illustrates this. it's amusing cos it's so hilariously bloke-ish - nobody can put up with constant whining! so perhaps there is the sad juxtaposed storyline of how he feels sad and confused and nobody understands because nobody listens, least of all his girlfriend who keeps moaning about her own problems, and that is why he leaves her, but i think it is more likely that this bit:

Oh people they don't understand No girlfriends they can't understand On top of this I aint never gonna understand In spaceships they won't understand And me I ain't ever gonna understand

is him imitating the girlfriend saying that she thinks nobody understands her problems apart from him, probably in some soppy way, and he's thinking "well i don't understand either so shut up"... ok so maybe there is a deeper meaning to this but i don't think there is. not all songs have to be sad and about internal torment and sorrow and confusion. the song is light-hearted, ironic and amusing and i love it... it is perfect... PERFECT... i mean, no joke, this is my favourite song of all time ever ever ever... even better live... it's just so reminiscent of the happiest times in my life.

This song is about being depressed and not being to know why. It's a great song because it holds all the implications of being depressed; not having anyone to understand, especially one's self. But sometimes you have to tell someone it'll be fine just for the sake of being nice but knowing deep inside that you're going to have to leave, mentally or physically. The guitars, bass, and drums are suppose(I believe) to convey that obvious subjective perception of being in a social place while feeling like this(depressed). It's a beautiful song because it's so true. It makes me happy that The Strokes can convey this feeling so accurately.

it kinda pisses me off when people say "this song makes me feel so happy!"

especially when they post it right under the lyrics

which are so obviously sad and unhappy

I think this song's about a guy who just leaves his girlfriend, possibly cause of pregnancy (your grandsons will never understand), and he's saying that people can't understand it, and neither can he. He just doesn't love her anymore.

Light Up The Sky
Van Halen
The song lyrics were written by the band Van Halen, as they were asked to write a song for the 1979 movie "Over the Edge" starring Matt Dillon. The movie (and the lyrics, although more obliquely) are about bored, rebellious youth with nothing better to do than get into trouble. If you see the movie, these lyrics will make more sense. It's a great movie if you grew up in the 70s/80s you'll definitely remember some of these characters from your own life. Fun fact, after writing the song, Van Halen decided not to let the movie use it.

Bron-Y-Aur Stomp

This is about bronies. They communicate by stomping.

Silent Planet
I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

Magical
Ed Sheeran
How would you describe the feeling of being in love? For Ed Sheeran, the word is “Magical.” in HIS three-minute album opener, he makes an attempt to capture the beauty and delicacy of true love with words. He describes the magic of it all over a bright Pop song produced by Aaron Dessner.

American Town
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran shares a short story of reconnecting with an old flame on “American Town.” The track is about a holiday Ed Sheeran spends with his countrywoman who resides in America. The two are back together after a long period apart, and get around to enjoying a bunch of fun activities while rekindling the flames of their romance.
