Pa papa papa papa
Pa papa papa papa
Pa papa papa papa
Pa papa papa papa

I found a reason to keep living
Oh and the reason, dear, is you
I found a reason to keep singing
Oh and the reason, dear, is you

Oh I do believe
If you don't like things you live
For some place you never gone before

Pa papa papa papa
Pa papa papa papa
Pa papa papa papa
Pa papa papa papa

Honey, I found a reason to keep living
And you know the reason, dear it's you
And I've walked down life's lonely highways
Hand in hand with myself
And I realized how many paths have crossed between us

Oh I do believe
You're all what you perceive
What come is better that what came before

Oh I do believe
You're all what you perceive
What come is better that what came before

Pa papa papa papa
Pa papa papa papa
Pa papa papa papa
Pa papa papa papa
And you'd better come, come come, come to me
Come come, come to me

pa papa papa pa

General Comment:Sorry: one more correction. He traveled life's "lonely highway," not plural... Just one... The one.

General Comment:I'm quite sure he sings, "I do believe if you don't like things, you leave; for some place you've never gone before." I seems clear audibly to me, and makes much more sense.

My Opinion:I thought the words were "If you don't like things you leave," as in he is justifying a break up. So it sounds quite sweet at first to tell someone you found a reason to keep living, but then it's really a sort of ironic, mean thing. You found a reason to live because you have left someone. Do you think it's intentional that "live" sounds so much like "leave"? I do.

General Comment:I also think Reed was being ironical with this song. The folk demo version is also quite amazing.

General Comment:Anyone else think the country-style demo version is a lot better than the version that appeared on the original album?

General Comment:In the speaking bit, Lou really sounds like Frank Zappa. Zappa loved to parody sappy love songs as well.

General Comment:I think this song is supposed to be like a song from the 40's. They even have a talking part in it which was a staple of almost every Ink Spots song.

General Comment:This song has an almost identical sentiment as "The Reason" by Hoobastank, yet one song i love and one song is so bad i shudder to think about it. guess which song is which?

General Comment:I like this song. I find it has a very mo-town vibe with the harmonies. I can imagine this is a kind of parody of the songs that conquered the 50s.
