Just a feeling, but this song (whole album, but this song particularly) reminds me of the Farscape episodes Kansas > Terra Firma > A Constellation of Doubt where Crichton goes back to Earth with his alien friends only to be disappointed/disgusted by people's reactions and realizes that while he has changed dramatically, Earth has not... so he chooses to leave Earth behind.
