    My Interpretation:"I want you to love me
    Like you did before you knew me
    And I never thought there'd be any help for somebody like me
    A vacancy"

    He wants her to love him the way they were initially; she didn't know him. She didn't know him, because he isn't anyone (or at least that's how he feels "a vacany" and he's asking for someone to "tell me who I am" because he doesn't know who he he is). She found something about him attractive-even if it was ephemeral and now is gone or the face he put on for everyone to hide his vacancy. He wants her love-even if she isn't seeing him for him. He doesn't think there would be any help or companionship for someone who is empty and has nothing to offer-"a vacancy"

    My take on it:

    She no longer loves him like she did when she first saw him.
    She was chasing the thought that they could be perfect together.
    But eventually she realized it wasn't meant to be.
    And at the end of it all, he's shocked that she even let him, and all his problems, in.

    General Comment:Jesus' Son Is an excellent book with a great narrative voice, the word choices are fantastic. It's the book that made me become an English major. This really is a great song, but not the best of the album.

    wat is the meaning of these lines:

    those hit me the hardest in the song but i cant determine the exact meaning

    perhaps:
    he wants her to love him again like she loved the idea of having someone perfect
    she used to fantasize about the perfect person and love him to death
    and now that they have found each other and been together for a while
    she doesnt love the idea so much anymore

    General Comment:3eb never ceases to amaze me. i love this song.

    my favorite line is, "i want someone to know me, maybe tell me who i am, cause i've faced down my demons and cried out to a god, a god i've never seen."

    i don't know if this song has a religious aspect to it, however i do feel that it shows him reaching out through the darkness to find...relief?

    General Comment:Tis most definately about the book "Jesus' Son"....read the book....you'll understand. The movie isn't an amazingly good depiction of the book

    General Comment:Just a thought here, but it kinda sounds like he's finding faith. And when the world darkens around him it symbolizes how the world and society fades out and God becomes the center of his life and nothings else matters. "New ideas in my head start to burn", he's discovering christianity. "Dropped out of schools 'cause I never learned" means that the answers he's looking for aren't found in this world and they are found in God. And when he says "bring me the sun" i think he's talking about the Sun and how he wants to accept him.
    Just a thought...
