Planning my attack just before you come back around
Maybe I'm wrong but I don't know how to back down
I never fit in, you know I don't belong
But you know that I don't care when you and me are strong
Cause I'm a vampire y'all
We toast the blood of our enemies
You're still scaring me, no, still scaring me, no
And we don't fit in
Wonder what it's like when you're living with someone like me
I'm a freak and I'm nervous when it's easy
Feral days, and I'm sex crazed
I put it in with my animal ways
That's the sign I was born to be living in
I ran around and gave the finger to the Ritalin
You know you calm me down and I can't say why
You say goodbye and burn my eyes
A thousand July's
I hope you find
I'd give you the words, but no words come to mind
But you turn me so cold, so I tell you lies
When you let me in, it's like a thousand Julys
When you left, I felt the drop like a boom
Wintertime all alone in your bedroom
I don't blame you and I know I'm not your friend
How we live, young American
I guess I've always known, I'd be on my own,
I'd be on my own, and I don't know why, I don't know why
A thousand Julys
I know you'll find
I'd say the words, but no words come to mind
But you let me in, and I don't know why
But when you come, it's like a thousand Julys
A thousand Julys
That's what you are
I'd tell you to come back now, but we've gone too far
And we've burned it out now
I don't even try
But I feel you gone
I lost a thousand Julys

General Comment:To those confused about the oceans lyrics...

It's: "You save oceans, baby." and it is referring to when a woman cums.

General Comment:Got to hear this song live, and Stephan Jenkins said it was about sex. But it's obviously more than that. It's the feelings that come with sex. To me, it seems like it's a more friends with benefits situation than a monogamous relationship.

"Planning my attack.. and we don't fit in" is talking about before having sex again and he's trying to figure what to do. He's not sure but he'll never admit it. He's maybe awkward and unusual but this girl has him feeling good - "strong." The vampire thing is just the emphasize the power he feels from hooking up with her. They're both outcasts.

"Wonder what's life.. burn my eyes" is describing at first why he's different and he wonders about how she feels about him, especially when it comes to sex. I don't think it's actually referring to living with someone, I think it's more of the post hookup hanging out, where it feels like you're living someone when you wake up in the same bed after sex and make breakfast. The "I'm a freak and I'm nervous when it's easy" is the feeling you get when it's too easy to fuck someone... there's no game to it. You're nervous because it's too easy, you don't like it. The chase is missing. It could also be the opposite; he likes it when it's easy because it makes him have butterflies in his stomach (nervous). Next few lines go on to explain why he likes her - she calms him down.

"A thousand Julys... like a thousand Julys" is about that feeling you can't put into words. But when things don't go his way or she hurts him, he hurts her by lying to her. It might be that she went to another guy (since they're not committed) and she accuses him to doing the same, but he lies about it. Or he says he's with another girl to make her jealous. But then when they get back together, there's the most sexual chemistry.

"When you left for good... I don't know why" is when their "relationship" ends, and he's hurt. I wouldn't say heartbroken, maybe shocked though. Wintertime represents the relationship dying because when their relationship is on, it's like a thousand Julys. He's not referring to the time sequence. "I don't blame you.." is talking about how they were just friends with benefits, so how could he blame her for moving on? They weren't friends, just lovers. Just people who had amazing sexual chemistry but nothing beyond that. "How we living.." is talking about how it's common for people to just get together and fuck, making an excuse for their behavior because it's "normal." He figures he'll never find a girl like her again so he'll be on his own forever since he's an outcast.

The end is pretty obvious. He's going over how she made him feel, and he wants her back but knows it could never be the same after the shit they went through. But he still feels sad that they can't be together again.

General Comment:uhm this song is obviuosly about meth.
if you've ever done it you'd kno right away..
    it says...

    I'm a freak and I'm nervous when it's easy
Feral days, and I'm sex crazed

You can calm me down, I can't say why
You say goodbye, you burn my eyes, you burn my eyes
    A thousand Julys

nervous and sex crazed.. that pretty much gives it away.
and how he mentions it calms him down. its bc when your not high the withdraw and feignin is so bad that instead of liftin u up when u do smoke its more of a relief to feel the buzz..

General Comment:Sex, yes. but also about the sacrifice that comes from living your life to the fullest. The best moments will make you miss them when they are over.

Idk, I recently went to see Stephan Jenkins in concert and I think the best way to describe him is as a gay man- that is attracted to woman. I think thats why so many of the song lyrics are about sexual frustration.

General Comment:it definitely sounds like he's saying oceans at the end, and not patience. dunno what it means but he's also made a reference to oceans in the song 10 days late, which i also didn't get.

General Comment:I've always wondered what he is saying at the end of the song over and over as well.

It sounds like, "you say oceans baby"

For awhile I thought it was, "You say, patience baby" but I have no idea if that is correct or not (probably not).

Love the song though, and yea it's about sex but it's a little deeper then that, not as much as some people above are trying to make you believe though :)
