Lyrics for Motorcycle Drive By as interpreted by weezerific:cutlery

Motorcycle Drive By Lyrics
Summer time and the wind is blowing outside
In lower Chelsea and I don't know
What I'm doing in this city
The sun is always in my eyes
It crashes through the windows
And I'm sleeping on the couch
When I came to visit you
That's when I knew I could never
Have you

I knew that before you did
Still I'm the one who's stupid
And there's this burning
Like there's always been
I never been so alone
And I've never bee n so alive
Visions of you on a motorcycle drive by
The cigarette ash flies in your eyes
And you don't mind, you smile
And say the world doesn't fit with you

I don't believe you, you're so serene
Careening through the universe
Your axis on a tilt , you're guiltless and free
I hope you take a piece of me with you
And there's things I'd like to do
That you don't believe in
I would like to build something
But you never see it happen
And there's this burning
Like there's always been
I've ne ver been so alone
And I've, I've never been so alive
And there's this burning
There is this burning
Where's the soul I want to know
New York City is evil

The surface is everything but I could never do that
Someone would see through that
And this is our last time
We'll be friends again
I'll get over you, you'll wonder who I am
And there's this burning
Just like there's always been
I've never been so alone alone
And I've, and I've never been so alive
So alive

I go home to the coast
It starts to rain I paddle out on the water
Alone
Taste the salt and taste the pain
I'm not thinking of you again
Summer dies and swells rise
The sun goes down in my eyes
See this rolling wave
Darkly coming to take me
Home
And I've never been so alone
And I've never been so alive

I think out of all third eye blind's stuff, this has got to be the best song. There are so many artists that have great lyrics and I think this band gets over-looked on that aspect. The lyrics are great. This song is beautiful.

This song is one song I absolutley love to listen to. I can relate to this in my own life. Stephen is a mastermind. I think this band needs a little more respect from the world. This is one of the few CDs I can listen to from beggining to the end over and over and never tire from it.

This is by far and away the best song by 3EB, even if it is just for the lyrics. By the way, anybody interested or a fan of their work should make an effort to find their b - sides, particularly Tattoo Of The Sun and Wake For Young Souls.

This song has to be the story of this year...It's quite interesting how closely I can relate to this song. Even though I don't typically listen to music like 3EB I can't resist loving them for their beautiful lyrics. My favorite line in this song is...I go home to the coast, it starts to rain, I paddle out on the water, alone, taste the salt, and taste the pain I'm not thingking of you again, summer dies and swells rise, the sun goes down in my eyes, see this rolling wave, darkly coming to take me away...so beautiful.

I luvvvv 3eb so much, theyre my fave band ever. Stephan said on a live version "This is a song about a girl who dumped me... on my skinny ass.... and i wrote a song for her... a song called motorcycle driveby (people laugh) I never thought of it that way... You all did!! Smart bastards"

this is one song which never tires my ears - it's.. oh.. ('awkward smile' seems to have already explained what I think too).. it's simply beautiful in a lot of ways. A song which can go straight to your heart ... a serene outpouring of pathos.

ahh, I love this song. It's so wonderful to just be chillin' or driving and listening to this song. So much emotion in so little time!! I'd have to say their best song yet...and probably will always be.

Agh this song reminds me of my ex-b/f. i moved to Fl. last summer. well, right now im in NY and i visited him and realized i'm still so in love w/ him. Well, i went to his house, having no idea what to say, heh, i slept on his couch when i went to visit him, and i knew i couldn't have him back. i felt so alive, yet, alone when i'm around him. And i know i'll go home to the beaches of florida and just chill on the sand watching the sun set and think of him

This is what i means to Stephan:
"That song started as a journal entry made on a trip to New York to visit a girl I used to go out with. Needless to say, the trip didn't work out. I went back to San Francisco and went surfing which is what the last verse is about. The main idea in the song is that sometimes when you're really lonely, you really feel alive and you feel like you know who you are.
Kevin and I both ride motorcycles...I currently have a 1972 Triumph 750 Tiger Twin. It's got more power than God"

i agree with elevendy. noboby i know likes this band except for myself and one of my friends. how cheap is that? i guess nobody else knows what theyre missing out on cause this is by far the best band ever. there songs are so deep and reflective on peoples lives. and the lead guitar is the best ive ever heard. i cant think of another band that can do that with the guitar.

isn't it "and this is the last time we'll be friends again" instead of "this is our last time, we'll be friends again"?
