whenever I run
whenever I run to you lost one
it's never done
just hanging on

just past has let me be
returning as if dream
shattered as belief

if you have to go don't say goodbye
if you have to go don't you cry
if you have to go I will get by
someday I'll follow you and see you on the other side

but for the grace of love
I'd will the meaning of
heaven from above

your picture out of time
left aching in my mind
shadows kept alive

if you have to go don't say goodbye
if you have to go don't you cry
if you have to go I will get by
I will follow you and see you on the other side

but for the grace of love
I'd will the meaning of
heaven from above

long horses we are born
creatures more than torn
mourning our way home

General Comment:Couldn't be more precise than this.

It's a song about the loss of someone (in Billy's case, his mother) and how the pain for that loss still goes on ('it's never done, still hanging on' / 'shadows kept alive'). It's his way for processing the much-needed mourning.

He remembers about her in a special, timeless way (a 'picture out of time'). Yet, he dares not doing an ultimate farewell, don't say goodbye, I'll see you someday, that's his message to her. If he has to believe in heaven to avoid thinking he'll never see her again, he'll do so.

The last part of this masterpiece shows how he feels now. "Mourning our way home" is SUCH A CLEAR IMAGE...Crystal-clear. This song always strikes home because I think that everyone has had at least one loss to grief over, right?

Musically it can't get better than this. Production-wise is flawless, and how Billy develops that crescendo is out of this world.

General Comment:This is my favourite song on "adore" written for his mother. I think it's also about lost loves and dead people in general and how if they do believe there is a heaven then he will see them again so there is no need to be sad about lost ones.

he probably doesnt believe in god or heaven or something but for love, for the person who died, he will believe in it so that he will be able to see them again.

General Comment:This ong is siriously uber amazing. Siriously... the build up before the solo with the choir of voices buried in the background is siriously like... sirious.
