Is it heaven up there?
Because it's hell down here (hell down here)
Is it heaven up there?
Because it's hell down here

I can feel you writhe
I feel the tears well in your eyes (your eyes)
Streaming down your face
You haven't seen the sun in days (you haven't)

Your breaking heart, your daily tears
I'm watching you in slow motion
A broken dream, a deathly calm
There's nothing on the horizon

I can feel your fears
And I can taste your tears
Is it heaven up there?
Because it's hell down here (hell down here)
I can see your sorrow
I hope there's no tomorrow
Is it heaven up there?
Because it's hell down here (hell down here)

Like a snake, I tire
The cold dark clouds
They steal my light (my light)
You're so distant now
A world away
I'm winding down

Your breaking heart, your daily tears
I'm watching you in slow motion
A broken dream, a deathly calm
There's nothing on the horizon

I can feel your fears
And I can taste your tears
Is it heaven up there?
Because it's hell down here (hell down here)
I can see your sorrow
I hope there's no tomorrow
Is it heaven up there?
Because it's hell down here (hell down here)

No more sunlight
No more dead ends
No more heartbreak
No more dead friends

No more sunlight
No more dead ends
No more heartbreak
No more dead friends

I can feel your fears
And I can taste your tears
Is it heaven up there?
Because it's hell down here (hell down here)
I can see your sorrow
I hope there's no tomorrow
Is it heaven up there?
Because it's hell down here

Frontman Joel Birch said of this track “This song is a letter from myself and (co-vocalist/ bassist) Ahren , written by me, to our friends who have passed on to the other side. I’m 41. I’m bipolar. And I’m pretty tired of it. That’s where lyrics like ‘Like a snake I tire / the cold dark clouds, they steal my light’ come from. The song is wrapping up how I feel daily, and reflecting on the time leading up to my friend killing himself. I’m sure a lot of people who have experienced that guilt at not seeing what becomes glaringly obvious after the fact.”
