wikipedia.org says that it's about sexually experimenting with a female lover during summertime.
@seeing it's not really your interpretation if you're looking it up on wikipedia....It is correct, however. The intent of the song, and I thought it was quite obvious, is a summertime fling with a female as evidenced by the line "got a taste for the cherry".
