Further to Randy's comments there are numerous references to Reich (NAZIs were the third Reich), and the Cold War era ("the bear, the blitzkreig...") The Russians were symbolised as bears during the Cold War. "Soviet hangover, Eastern Bloc" ... terms for the communist region of Europe.
The Czech Republic was part of the Eastern Bloc (Communism) during the Cold War time.
