When the world starts to get you down
And nothing seems to go your way
And the noise of the maddening crowd
Makes you feel like you're going to go insane

There's a glow of a distant light
Calling you to come outside
To feel the wind on your face and your skin
And it's here I begin my story

Turn up the radio
Turn up the radio
Don't ask me where I wanna go
We gotta turn up the radio

It was time that I opened my eyes
I'm leaving the past behind
Nothing's ever what it seems
Including this time and these crazy dreams

I'm stuck like a moth to a flame
I'm so tired of playing this game
I don't know how I got to this state
Let me out of my cage cause I'm dying

Turn up the radio
Turn up the radio
Don't ask me where I wanna go
We gotta turn up the radio

Turn up the radio
Turn up the radio
Don't ask me where I wanna go
We gotta turn up the radio

I just wanna get in my car
I wanna go fast and I gotta go far
Don't ask me to explain how I feel
'Cause I don't want to say where I'm going

Turn down the noise and turn up the volume
Don't have a choice cause the temperatures pounding
If leaving this place is the last thing I do
Then I want to escape with a person just like you

I'm stuck like a moth to a flame
I'm so sick and tired of playing this game
We gotta have fun it it's all that we do
Gotta shake up the system and break all the rules
Gotta turn up the radio until the speakers blow

Turn up the radio
Turn up the radio
Don't ask me where I wanna go
We gotta turn up the radio

Turn up the radio
Turn up the radio
There's somethings you don't need to know
Just let me turn up the radio

Turn up the radio
Just let me turn up the radio
Just let me turn up the radio

    Song Meaning

Like in all of the best Madonna art songs, there is a defiance, a sadness and an aching honesty in her writing and Latest Single/Hardest Rocker from Underrated Rabbit Masterpiece MDNA-Turn Up the Radio it's named-is one of the best artworks Madonna has ever sung, written and recorded! She gave a masterful performance with guitar in hand at Verizon Center in D.C. and rocked it! At times, the honesty of her writing, the conviction in her voice and the Rocking attitude in her Playing-is indeed moving and heartfelt that Madonna's plainspoken story is heartbreaking in her honesty and outright sadness-Madonna writes in her crying-"When the world gets you down/Nothing goes your way/Maddening Crowd Noise/You Feel Like You're Going Insane!/A glow of a distant Ray of Light/Makes you want to come outside/It is here I begin my story/Turn Up the Radio/Turn Up the Radio/Don't ask me where I want to go/I want to Turn Up the Radio!/It's time that I opened my eyes/I'm leaving the past behind/Nothing is ever what it seems/Including time and crazy dreams/A moth is to a flame/Im tired of playing the game/I don't know how I feel/Let me out of this cage-I'm dying inside!/I just want to get in my car-a Mustang/I'm going fast and far/Don't ask me how I feel-I'll never explain again!/Please Don't Tell Me where I'm going!/Turn down noise/Turn up volume/I don't have any choice/My heart is pounding!/If leaving is the last thing I do/I want to escape!/I must have fun if it's all I will do/I will shake up the system/I will break all the rules!...Don't ask me where I want to go/Some things you don't need to know/Just let me Turn Up the Radio!" Madonna is just like the rest of us, only even more brilliant! Unfortunately, the charts and mainstream hit radio have blocked Madonna out and virtually ignored her at this point. Sure, Lady Madonna is loved by Rock Critics, Scholars and Fans but the way mainstream media have treated her of late is a damn shame, criminal and unforgivable. Fortunately, to quote Bruce Springsteen-No Retreat and No Surrender. Madonna has learned more from her music than she ever learned in school and that's a Ciccone Fact! Turn Up the Radio is certainly no exception from the Detroit Rule-it's her best song in years and she's proud to sing the song-it's about her life. The great state of Michigan has produced an artist who skook up the Establishment and broke all the rules. Madonna is her name and I'm damn proud of her. For this once and future Evita/Ray of Light, Living to Tell about her life-and our lives will continue. What Madonna wants is to Live Forever. That it will. She's an Acrobat. She won't let the industry bastards grind her down. For Madonna Ciccone-to quote a U2 Couplet from her best friend Bono-In Dreams Begin Responsibilities. She is Home. Let's all Turn Up the Radio. Your move, Lady Madge! Let's all listen in kind!
