Stay
You'll leave me in the morning anyway
My heart
You'll cut it out, you never liked me anyway
Why do you take me down this road
If you don't want to walk with me?
Why do you exit, go it alone
When you could just talk to me?

Now I'm all messed up
Sick inside, wondering where
Where you're leaving your makeup
Now I'm all messed up
Sick inside wondering who
Whose life you're making worthwhile

Go, go, go if you want
I can't stop you
Go if you want
I can't stop you

Sad
You come back to me always anyway
Leave a mark
You say you never really loved her anyway
Why do I take this lonely road
Nobody here to walk with me
Don't want to start fresh all over again
Why won't you just comfort me?

Now I'm all messed up
Sick inside, wondering where
Where you're leaving your makeup
Now I'm all messed up
Sick inside wondering who
Whose life you're making worthwhile

Go, go, go if you want
I can't stop you
Go if you want
I can't stop you

Go, go, go if you want
I can't stop you
Go if you want
I can't stop you

Now I'm all messed up
I'm sick inside, wondering where
Where you're leaving your makeup
Now I'm all messed up
Sick inside wondering who
Whose life you're making worthwhile

Go, go, go if you want
I can't stop you
Go if you want
I can't stop you

Go (Please stay)
Go (Please stay)
Go if you want
I can't stop you (You'll go if you want to)
Go if you want (You'll go if you want to)
I can't stop you

Go (Please stay)
Go (Please stay)
Go if you want
I can't stop you (You'll go if you want to)
Go if you want (You'll go if you want to)
I can't stop you

Go (Please stay)
Go (Please stay)
Go if you want
I can't stop you (You'll go if you want to)
Go if you want
I can't stop you

    My Opinion

I am really surprised with Sara's lyrics here (I believe Sara wrote this) because it is actually so open. Usually she tries to hide her meanings behind complex metaphors and such, but in this song she really let her emotions take over. I think this must have been hard for her to be so blunt because it's so raw.

This song is pretty self explanatory to me, or at least compared to their other material. To me, I interpret it as a ballad about being in a relationship or even about having unrequited feelings for someone, and you are just so beyond fed up of being on an emotional roller-coaster. You feel like you've been on and off with this person for so long, and they continue to go and come, and right now you're at this point where you're just saying "get the hell out of my life and stop hurting me". However, even though they keep hurting you, you would rather face the struggle with them rather than experiencing the pain of seeing them with somebody else. This is expressed in the bridge where she sings she's "sick inside wondering whose life you're making worth wild". By the end of the song, you hear the vulnerability that overtook her constantly throughout this struggle concerning this person you're madly in love with.

I think we all go through this phase in our life where we don't know when to draw the line when it comes to (unrequited) love. How do you know when enough is enough? How do you know when to stop holding on? This vulnerability is what I feel in this song.

So glad I was first to comment so I can be the first to share my opinion and my interpretation! This is the first time I've actually commented - usually I just analyze what other peoples' interpretations are.

    General Comment

One of her easier songs to decipher. Not bad either. However, if you're a lyrics-type-of-girl (or guy), than you may have a problem with "Why do you exist all alone. When you could just talk to me?" No body exists "all alone" and it sounds as though she should call a hot line if all she wants is someone to talk with. Still a decent song. And at least it's not as bad as Alex Clare's hit So Close, which makes no sense whatsoever when it comes to real life and love. The person who posted first deciphered the lyrics beyond them needing additional comment to foster understanding.

Fast Car
Tracy Chapman
"Fast car" is kind of a continuation of Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run." It has all the clawing your way to a better life, but in this case the protagonist never makes it with her love; in fact she is dragged back down by him. There is still an amazing amount of hope and will in the lyrics; and the lyrics themselve rank and easy five. If only music was stronger it would be one of those great radio songs that you hear once a week 20 years after it was released. The imagery is almost tear-jerking ("City lights lay out before us", "Speeds so fast felt like I was drunk"), and the idea of starting from nothing and just driving and working and denigrating yourself for a chance at being just above poverty, then losing in the end is just painful and inspiring at the same time.

Dreamwalker
Silent Planet
I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

Punchline
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran sings about missing his former partner and learning important life lessons in the process on “Punchline.” This track tells a story of battling to get rid of emotions for a former lover, whom he now realized might not have loved him the same way. He’s now caught between accepting that fact and learning life lessons from it and going back to beg her for another chance.

Amazing
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran tells a story of unsuccessfully trying to feel “Amazing.” This track is about the being weighed down by emotional stress despite valiant attempts to find some positivity in the situation. This track was written by Ed Sheeran from the perspective of his friend. From the track, we see this person fall deeper into the negative thoughts and slide further down the path of mental torment with every lyric.
