Ever wonder 'bout what he's doing
How it's all turned to lies
Sometimes I think that it's better,
To never ask why

Where there is desire, there is gonna be a flame
Where there is a flame, someone's bound to get burned
But just because it burns, doesn't mean your gonna die
You gotta get up and try, and try, and try
Gotta get up and try, and try, and try
You gotta get up and try, and try, and try

Funny how the heart can be deceiving
More than just a couple times
Why do we fall in love so easy
Even when it's not right

Where there is desire, there is gonna be a flame
Where there is a flame, someone's bound to get burned
But just because it burns, doesn't mean your gonna die
You gotta get up and try, and try, and try
Gotta get up and try, and try, and try
You gotta get up and try, and try, and try

Ever worry that it might be ruined
And does it make you wanna cry
When your out there doing what your doing
Are you just getting by
Tell me are you just getting by, by, by

Where there is desire, there is gonna be a flame
Where there is a flame, someone's bound to get burned
But just because it burns, doesn't mean your gonna die
You gotta get up and try, and try, and try
Gotta get up and try, and try, and try
You gotta get up and try, and try, and try

You gotta get up and try, and try, and try
You gotta get up and try, and try, and try
You gotta get up and try, and try, and try
You gotta get up and try, and try, and try

You gotta get up and try, and try, and try
Gotta get up and try, and try, and try

My Interpretation:Sounds to me it's about a serial relationship - the couple keeps breaking up and getting back together. I think they're both responsible for the breakdown in communication.

This is obviously the pivotal verse:

Ever worry that it might be ruined
And does it make you wanna cry
When your out there doing what your doing
    Are you just getting by
Tell me are you just getting by, by, by

They've taken time off, and the singer is expressing the fear they won't get back together. I think the concept of "Are you just getting by" gets across the feeling of killing time while the current issue blows over, but also the uncertainty of whether the relationship will survive.

I think the song is about how much work a relationship really is. Two people who love and want each other are inevitably going to hurt each other, and it is a struggle to persevere once there is too much history.

My Interpretation:I can relate to this song a lot. I interpret it as the aftermath of breakup from a significant other. In the beginning, she is wondering what is he doing...which I believe is only natural after a breakup with someone whom you had loved. She reflects on the relationship by saying "how it all turned to lies I think that its better to never ask why". I related it to how at the end I was reflecting on our relationship and reflecting on how my ex he kept lying about things that eventually hurt me, but in the end I realized that sometimes its better to not question about what happened in the past and to just let go and move on.

The next verse "where there is desire.." is explaining how when there is something really good like desire and passion in a relationship there is also something strongly negative like getting hurt. But she reassures herself that, that doesn't mean you can't recover. The message is strong, " you gotta get up and try and try and try", meaning you just have to put yourself together and try to live the beautiful life you have.

"Ever worried that it might be ruined..." is about the fear about loving someone and it getting ruined again. However, Pink explains that of course theres always that chance but repeats "where there is desire" to say that if it ever happens you just need to pick yourself up again and try and try to move on.

    My Opinion:Beautiful,motivational song.
It's about struggling for somebody's love and care. Fighting the obstacles which distance you from the person you desire, preparing for the worse and expecting the best.

"Ever wonder 'bout what he's doing
How it's all turned to lies
Sometimes I think that it's better,
To never ask why" - One of the lovers betrayed the other one's trust or stopped trying and struggling for their love. The other, betrayed lover is disappointed and wonders how could it all the love go wrong.

"Where there is desire, there is gonna be a flame
Where there is a flame, someone's bound to get burned
But just because it burns, doesn't mean your gonna die
You gotta get up and try, and try, and try
Gotta get up and try, and try, and try
You gotta get up and try, and try, and try" - They both are trying to fix their relationship, but the betrayed partner is thinking about giving up and is scared of being hurt again. Still,he/she has to fight because love is worth everything, and at times it's normal to get hurt, but if we fall,it only means that we'll rise up again.

Funny how the heart can be deceiving
More than just a couple times
Why do we fall in love so easy
Even when it's not right - The wounded partner is still questioning should he/she move on or stay and fight for their love. He/she thinks that the relationship is a mistake and that his/her heart is deluding just like the other partner did.

Ever worry that it might be ruined
And does it make you wanna cry
When your out there doing what your doing
    Are you just getting by
Tell me are you just getting by, by, by - Realizing that his thoughts are just making in harder, he/she forgives the partner but still is afraid that the relationship can be over and ruined at any time.

    It's probably wrong,but that's my opinion :)

General Comment:Okay, so this song is probably about some relationship between a girl and a boy, but it reminds me of gymnastics.
Where there is desire, there is gonna be a flame <------ when someone wants to win, there's going to be other people who want to win to, you have competition.
Where there is a flame, someone's bound to get burned <----- not everyone can win first, someone's going to be upset that they didn't
But just because it burns, doesn't mean your gonna die <---- just because you didn't get the gold, doesn't mean you're going to die
You gotta get up and try, and try, and try <----- you can't give up, even though gymnastics is hard

General Comment:To me this songs speaks about a cheating spouse/significant other. She is wondering what he is doing since everything he says is lies. And sometimes you don't want to ask him questions because you know that what he says will be lies. While there is desire for that person, the flame is a big metaphor that she keeps getting burned by the relationship. To me the part where she sings try, try try is more about picking yourself up and trying again, whether that means trying it again with that significant other or moving on.
The part where she sings funny how the heart can be deceiving to me means exactly what it says. The heart can be entirely deceptive. It makes you long and want for things that might not be good or healthy for you. When he's out there doing what he is doing means she knows exactly what he is doing when he is not with her, in other words when he's out there cheating. The part where she sings are you just getting by I believe to be that she is asking him if he is satisfied with his cheap thrill, was it enough to validate hurting her. Overall, this song deals with an unhealthy relationship and I believe it is ultimately about letting it go.

Song Meaning:like the video, i think its about a relationship that P!nk is in with an abusive boy (or at least thats how i interpret the video). theres a desire that she has for him, but as she says with 'even when its not right' and 'theres gonna be a flame', the boy doesnt feel the same way as her. 'where there is a flame someone bound to get burned' means that shes getting hurt, physically by him and probably emotional if he doesnt have the same desire for her. 'doesnt mean youre gonna die, youve gotta get up and try, try try' means that shes still trying to keep that love and that shes still trying to make him love her.

My Opinion:To be honest, the song can speak for itself. Especially the chorus.

"Where there is desire, there's gonna be a flame", clearly states that if there is a want, or feeling or really just desire too there is bound to be chances of things going bad.

"And where there is a flame, someone bound burn", and so when something goes bad someone's bound to get hurt.

"but just because it burns, doesn't mean you're gonna die", well just because it hurts and everything is against you doesn't mean you're gonna die.

"YOU JUST GOT TO GET UP AND TRY"

To song to me, actually tells a story.

About a girl loving this guy who's also a good friend of hers, but he doesn't acknowledge it. Or maybe he has a girlfriend. And she wonders why he doesn't but sometimes knowing is not always good. But she desires for his love and but too bad she got hurt instead but instead of dwelling in pain, she gets up and try again or try to move on.

Second verse, to me it's super cute. Really, funny how the heart can be deceiving. Even though you know with full conviction, you'r love for that certain someone can't be return you love them anyway even though its not right.

Bridge, sounds like she's worried her relationship with that guy might be ruined if she confess. So she just do what she does best and now she's just getting by....
