All dressed up and nowhere to go
Walking the streets all alone
Another night to wish that you could forget
Making yourself up as you go along

Who's gonna take you home tonight?
Who's gonna take you home?
Who's gonna take you home tonight?
Who's gonna take you home?
Does God bless your transsexual heart?
True trans soul rebel

Yet to be born, you're already dead
You sleep with a gun beside you in bed
Follow it through to the obvious end
Slit your veins wide open, you bleed it out

Who's gonna take you home tonight?
Who's gonna take you home?
Who's gonna take you home tonight?
Who's gonna take you home?
Does God bless your transsexual heart?
True trans soul rebel

You should have been a mother
You should have been a wife
You should have been gone from here years ago
You should be living a different life

Who's gonna take you home tonight?
Who's gonna take you home?
Who's gonna take you home tonight?
Who's gonna take you home? Who's gonna take you home tonight? Who's gonna take you home?
Does God bless your transsexual heart?
True trans soul rebel
True trans soul rebel

Laura Jane is a true trans soul rebel... what Against Me! has created over the course their career is very special, put all their albums together and you have an epic story of turmoil, regret, alienation, redemption... all through outsider perspective... who's more of an outsider than a street punk kid from Florida?... and this record may be the crown jewel of their career. In addition to being another great chapter added to the story, it's a mark in history regarding acceptance of modernized gender identity and expression in modern society. Pinhead Gunpowder had a guitar player years ago who later came out as trans, but unfortunately she died of a genetic disease before making a mark. Laura Jane stands relatively alone in the rock community as a trans person, and... take what I say with a grain of salt, because I'm a cis white male... she's probably a hell of a damn great representative.

Chuck Ragan is often thought of as the East Coast's resident badass punk rocker, but despite all the fish he's caught and houses he's built over the years, nobody approaches the level of badass that Laura Jane has shown the world... not just in recent times in the face of transitioning, but all her life.

My admiration for Laura Jane, and for the rest of this band, is immeasurable.
