  Some may think, Janette you have so much time on your hands... I say "yes" but only for things I deem important.   My Interpretation:To myself, Wide Awake the music video is a representation of humanity's state of mind during hard times. Life becomes a dark lonely maze where we are looking to find a place of magic and fairytale.When Katy thumps the walls out of frustration and the light inside her chest goes into the air it is a metaphor linked to her firework music video. When we have had enough of life we firstly go down hill, become depressed but then an innate inner part of yourself that is so hidden a childlike courage to remember who you really are reaches out for yourself!. I think when the light flys out of her chest its her soul shining bright, the remaining parts that save her and call out for her true self to save her. I think in other ways the music video shows us when these moments happen we are alone, but we also have this second part of us that we didn't even know existed. From there the strawberry to me is metaphor of the apple, biteing from the forbidden fruit that looked so magical and tasty. And then soon enough shes teleported to a fairytale setting where the prince gets punched. Basically here its the fact that when our dreams, our favorite dreams and pursuits of life are fake, and when the nightmare is as real as reality, we always find an unknown courage within us to survive and find normality again. And in that sense we are wide awake to the good and bad things in life.
  
  The lyrics to me sum up the music video just as much. I personally think it is about her marriage and the media all at once trying to destroy her spirit, but the courage she was bought up with as a child saved her to be strong.

  General Comment:Look up MK ULTRA and you will find the meaning. She was being mind controlled and figured it out. She broke free of her handlers and won't be controlled by anyone anymore.
  This link may shed some light on the subject. Educate yourselves, there is a lot of MK monarchs (victims) though, not just entertainers. I am an MK victim. My programming was through Mormon ritual abuse. Katy is a ministers daughter...

  General Comment:born again out of the lions den is the left brain , her inner child set her free . Right is lamb ,left is lion . Consciousness. Glamour of the physical world can trap you , that is prince charming and the cat is showing the hypnoisis that glamour will cause .

  General Comment:People have been saying this song is to do with drugs, but it's not.
  It's so clear what the lyrics mean, but most people try to look outside of the box, instead of seeing what's right infront of them.
  The song is simply an awakening. A big moment of realisation for Katy.
  "Yeah, I was dreaming for so long."
  - Meaning, she hadn't been focusing properly, she made quick decisions in life instead of thinking about them first, now she looks back at them and somewhat regrets them, in a way. She was dreaming for so long, now she's wide awake, and well aware of the dangers and wrong decisions in life.

  General Comment:I think this song could be interpreted in many ways!! It could be about love, it could be about drugs, or about life in general. For me.. I'm so annoyed with hearing this song, I love Katy to the clouds and back.. but I'm SO tired of hearing this song. However, I can't change the channel when it comes on! So it got me to thinking what it is that attracts me to this song.
  Well here we go.
  
  For me I'm 21 years old. Going through a rough time in my life. I'm in the process of trying to figure out what I want in life, as well as trying to go back to school and get 40 hours of work from both of my jobs.
  
  I gave up what I loved to do, which was performing and just settled for nursing. For me this song means so much... like...
  
  "Yeah, I was in the dark

  I'm wide awake
  How did I read the stars so wrong
  
  I'm wide awake
  And now it's clear to me
  That everything you see
  Ain't always what it seems

  Could mean I was so used to having my parents provide for me, though I've learned to pay for most of my things on my own, you don't truly KNOW about responsibility until you're out on your own which is the "I'm wide awake" part...
  And now i'm starting to realize that all this time, I was thinking the world was easier, and that I wouldn't struggle, but I am.. so I'm "reading the stars wrong" And "everything you see ain't always what it seems"
  
  Later into the song, for me again it feels like I'm finally getting that balance in my life that I need, but if i knew when I was younger what I know now.. I would have saved money better, I would have focused more on school, I would have made sure I stuck with the hobbies that I loved.
  
  They may not be that kind of interpretation that anyone else gets, but I guess it just suits me right now!!
