Where's that horse you rode in on?
Where's that fair-faced young man?
You carried their dead weight and let it fall by the wayside
And buried those years one dark evening

Now in a land without leaders
I listen close to the soil beneath me
And keep my heart with yours
And yes, we know there're others
And yes, we feel the ground shifting below us

Keep, keep the secret
Walk the furrows
Mend the fences
Plum, plum and level
Go inside
Stow the shovel

Keep, keep the secret
Walk the furrows
Mend the fences
Plum, plum and level
Go inside
Stow the shovel

Now it's time
Heat the kettle
Let the wars
Tell the story
Keep the joy
Keep the quiet
No, you're not shy
You have that fire

Smoldering
Keep the joy
Keep the quiet
No, you're not shy
Keep the fire
Smoldering

    I don't know, but I think it's;

Where’s that horse you rode in on? Where’s that fair-faced young man? You carried their dead weight and let it fall by the wayside And buried those years one dark evening

Now in a land without leaders I listen close to the soil beneath me And keep my heart with yours And yes, we know there’re others And yes, we feel the ground shifting below us

Keep, keep the secret Walk the furrows Mend the fences

Plumb, Plumb and level Go inside Stow the shovel

Keep, keep the secret Walk the furrows Mend the fences

Plumb, Plumb and level Go inside Stow the shovel

Now it’s time Heat the kettle Let the wars Tell the story

Keep the joy Keep the quiet No, you’re not shy You have that fire

    Smoldering

Keep the joy Keep the quiet No, you’re not shy Keep the fire

    Smoldering

    General Comment

Seems like it's about trying to get on with day to day life while the world is in chaos.....at least that's what the latter part of the song seems to say....the first few lines seem like they are about something else.

    Song Meaning

I thought it maybe was about someone who fought in a war and survived, but has seen terrible things. The fair-faced young man can both be reference to a friend he lost, or to himself (who is now not that bright faced and eager anymore, after everything...)

He goes back home and carries on living a normal life, he tries to forget ("You carried their dead weight and let it fall by the wayside and buried those years one dark evening") but he still remembers everything that happened ("Keep the secret")

The song is a kind of mantra for this person to keep going ("Plumb and level", to be normal and well adjusted) and to leave the war behind him ("Stow the shovel") and try to be happy even though terrible things happened ("Keep the Joy"). This person might seem somewhat withdrawn from society and antisocial ("Keep the quiet") but this is not what is going on inside his head... ("No, you're not shy, keep the fire... smoldering")

    My Opinion

While it sounds like he says 'let the wars tell the story,' he may very well be saying 'let the waters tell the story' as that, to me, seems to fit better with 'heat the kettles'

Either way, this song is a gem

Standing On The Edge Of Summer

In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

Son Şansın - Şarkı Sözleri
Hayalperest
This song seemingly tackles the methods of deception those who manipulate others use to get victims to follow their demands, as well as diverting attention away from important issues. They'll also use it as a means to convince people to hate or kill others by pretending acts of terrorism were committed by the enemy when the acts themselves were done by the masters of control to promote discrimination and hate. It also reinforces the idea that these manipulative forces operate in various locations, infiltrating everyday life without detection, and propagate any and everywhere. In general, it highlights the danger of hidden agendas, manipulation, and distraction, serving as a critique of those who exploit chaos and confusion to control and gain power, depicting a cautionary tale against falling into their traps. It encourages us to question the narratives presented to us and remain vigilant against manipulation in various parts of society.

There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.
