You've got the words to change a nation
But you're biting your tongue
You've spent a life time stuck in silence
Afraid you'll say something wrong
If no one ever hears it how we gonna learn your song?
So come on, come on
Come on, come on

You've got a heart as loud as lions
So why let your voice be tamed?
Maybe we're a little different
There's no need to be ashamed
You've got the light to fight the shadows
So stop hiding it away
Come on, come on

I wanna sing, I wanna shout
I wanna scream 'til the words dry out
So put it in all of the papers
I'm not afraid
They can read all about it
Read all about it, no oh
Oh oh oh
Oh oh oh
Oh oh oh
Oh oh oh
Oh oh oh
Oh oh oh

At night we're waking up the neighbors
While we sing away the blues
Making sure that we're remembered, yeah
'Cause we all matter too
If the truth has been forbidden
Then we're breaking all the rules
So come on, come on
Come on, come on

Let's get the TV and the radio
To play our tune again
It's 'bout time we got some airplay of our version of events
There's no need to be afraid
I will sing with you my friend
Come on, come on

I wanna sing, I wanna shout
I wanna scream 'til the words dry out
So put it in all of the papers
I'm not afraid
They can read all about it
Read all about it, oh
Oh oh oh
Oh oh oh
Oh oh oh
Oh oh oh
Oh oh oh
Oh oh oh

Yeah, we're all wonderful, wonderful people
So when did we all get so fearful?
Now we're finally finding our voices
So take a chance, come help me sing this
Yeah, we're all wonderful, wonderful people
So when did we all get so fearful?
And now we're finally finding our voices
Just take a chance, come help me sing this

I wanna sing, I wanna shout
I wanna scream 'til the words dry out
So put it in all of the papers
I'm not afraid
They can read all about it
Read all about it, oh
Oh oh oh
Oh oh oh
Oh oh oh
Oh oh oh
Oh oh oh
Oh oh oh

I wanna sing, I wanna shout
I wanna scream 'til the words dry out
So put it in all of the papers
I'm not afraid
They can read all about it
Read all about it, oh

    My Interpretation

I believe this song is just about anyone trying to speak up on issues that are subject to prejudice by society, such as gay couples, rape, etc.

I think the fact that this song is fairly broad, lets a lot of space for interpretation, and gives people hope for a voice.

    My Interpretation

Like many other songs, this of course can have many interpretations. I take this song like an encouragement to shout out anything about anything to anybody you want - to the special person, to the special group of people or to the world in general. '' We are wonderful, wonderful people, So when did we all get so fearful?''

It's not always so easy as it sounds to find that inner voice and essentialy - to get strenghts and shout it out no matter of other opinions. But when you do, when you find that spark and that strenghts it is like- ''So put it all of the papers,im not afraid. They can read all about it.''

    My Interpretation

To me personally this song is a call to speak up for the victims of domestic violence. It is an issue that is rarely discussed in public (especially in my country) - people tend to think of it as a private family matter and hide it away from society ("the truth has been forbidden").

So, when someone has been a victim of violence or knows of people who have been abused, he wants to help them desperately ("You've got a heart as loud as lions") and knows that he could do something to change the lives of so many people ("You've got the words to change a nation", "You've got the light to fight the shadows"), but is silent because he is afraid to bring the issue to light and do something that is never or rarely done.

The song is also an encouragement to the victims who do not realise their true value and dignity because they have been brought down by the abusers for so long ("that we all matter to", "we're all wonderful, wonderful people").

The lines "There's no need to be afraid, I will sing with you my friend", "Now we're finally finding our voices, So take a chance come help me sing this" bring hope - if we come together, we can make a difference.

I will speak for a guy that has changed healthcare in many Nations…at least their awareness in some as they are limited to what others have!

    Fact.

Many people in different countries don’t have the opportunity to speak to the powers that uphold a constitutional right for change and choice for reasons to protect freedom!

Fact I meet a guy that had that opportunity and was a dual citizen, US- EU.

During a period (N/A as to DATES SPECIFIC) Healthcare, pharmaceuticals, universities and many other investors, invested their international concerns to address the issues in the rise of AIDS and HIV.

As it came to light some concerns were actually interests.

    Fact.

Clinical trials made payments to the Candidates that put their signatures on contracts. Blood results were of the interest globally and of high value to gather the details to make a change.

But for one person ten years went by….as he believed he was living with HIV and Chronic Hepatitis B,

Until he was told different by the facts….he got involved and educated himself to understand himself and what he was actually living with and possibly die at the age of 60.

Results after results made the mistakes speak out on paper.

    Facts

Stacks of papers accumulated in a draws, in a file cabinets, underneath a mattress if guests come over. Questions lead to concerns and threats lead to bribes. Assaulted, lied to and for what?

Numbers on papers!!!…. results for research!! For the wrong research!

He of course was never told he would be taken advantage of or that he was a the perfect fit to be a lab rat!

After a while he comes to terms with the knowledge that was aggressive yet new to him!

Awakening! He had Questions but mostly received silent responses…

Til random visits from doctors, lawyers, healthcare professionals from all over the globe stepped in to his life. Fact.

One day at the market, another day a person on the same bus asking for advice.

Hundreds of random new people all sparking interest to introduce and to connect.

He accepted the path he was on as an opportunity to speak and help others if they needed help to actually know what they are dealing with and how to read their results, to stay healthy and to stay aware!

he spoke out he made a country respect his fight and many other countries followed! But one nation still hasn’t listened to change the past and address the mistakes known to so many!

Other healthcare departments Internationally will not get involved directly, it’s to complex as they said.

They did motivate that guy to try for himself to address the concerns in the other country of his other citizenship. Addressed concerns that he is knowledgeable that this nation has been mostly involved in the process of actions and awareness of the lab rat act!

    FACT

Read all about it is this! Some say it is what you want to interest you in the interpretation to leave a little more to the imagination other than thoughts.

    Facts from the lions roar!!!

I asked him to read this before I post and he says I hope they print it at least so what read is in the papers they all uphold. He thanked me for this!

    My Interpretation

I think it's about a highly scrutinized gay couple who can't come out because of publicity and hatred. "you've got the words to change a nation, but you're biting your tongue,"- (coming out), "baby, we're a little different, there's no need to be ashamed."

And the entire song is about them wanting to come out to the public, they don't care about the hate that they'll receive anymore. "put it in all of the papers, they can read all about it." "it's about time we got some airplay of our version of events."

I am just absolutely convinced that this is what this entire song is about. It's very bittersweet, sweet because they want to come out and be themselves but they're afraid and ugh, beautiful song.

emeli sande wrote this song about bringing back the real meaning and truth behind music and lyrics rather than for "the moment" songs that are in the charts these days. Its about bringing back the messages that songs in the 60's and 70's had where they really thought about their lyrics and where there was a real awareness of the world around them..really timeless music. About bringing poetry back into music and about getting poetic music played on the radio and tv like it used to be. She said that she feels alot of people get misrepresented by things that are supposed to represent them in the media and are categorised "like this is the channels where you can find music that represents you" and being put in categories. It''s about time she got some airplay of her version of events

    My Interpretation

I think this song can cover a whole range of topic, which I will not go into due to them already been put down.

My own personal opinion of this song: It makes me think of the holocaust, which in retrospect, is probably a pretty silly thing to be thinking about when hearing this song. I have no idea why it makes me think of the holocaust, but it still does.

    My Interpretation

I don't think this song is about one thing in particular like race, a single idea, or gay people. I think it's about fear in general. I think she wrote it for one person she knew who was like that, but so many of us are. How many people out there are afraid to share their thoughts, their ideas, because they think "someone has already thought that before" or "no one will care" or "they'll just think it's stupid" or not to offend other people, or because they think their ideas are so far fetched.

"Baby, we're all a little different, there's no need to be ashamed" Every single person even the most normal-seeming person, has something different, unique they can add to the world. But we just don't want to be real and vulnerable.

I see this song as being based on a shy, reserved person. who has always kept their mouth shut, allowing their fear of what others might think to dictate their life. Causing them to keep whatever greatness they might have inside them, hidden. The words of this song are urging that person to break free, show the world what their capable of, and to not only write "their song" but to sing it, to step onto the stage, finally embrace the spotlight, and to "live their life".

Standing On The Edge Of Summer
Thursday
In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

The Night We Met
Lord Huron
This is a hauntingly beautiful song about introspection, specifically about looking back at a relationship that started bad and ended so poorly, that the narrator wants to go back to the very beginning and tell himself to not even travel down that road. I believe that the relationship started poorly because of the lines: "Take me back to the night we met:When the night was full of terrors: And your eyes were filled with tears: When you had not touched me yet" So, the first night was not a great start, but the narrator pursued the relationship and eventually both overcame the rough start to fall in love with each other: "I had all and then most of you" Like many relationships that turn sour, it was not a quick decline, but a gradual one where the narrator and their partner fall out of love and gradually grow apart "Some and now none of you" Losing someone who was once everything in your world, who you could confide in, tell your secrets to, share all the most intimate parts of your life, to being strangers with that person is probably one of the most painful experiences a person can go through. So Painful, the narrator wants to go back in time and tell himself to not even pursue the relationship. This was the perfect song for "13 Reasons Why"

Gentle Hour
Yo La Tengo
This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,

I Can't Go To Sleep
Wu-Tang Clan
This song is written as the perspective of the boys in the street, as a whole, and what path they are going to choose as they get older and grow into men. (This is why the music video takes place in an orphanage.) The seen, and unseen collective suffering is imbedded in the boys’ mind, consciously or subconsciously, and is haunting them. Which path will the boys choose? Issac Hayes is the voice of reason, maybe God, the angel on his shoulder, or the voice of his forefathers from beyond the grave who can see the big picture and are pleading with the boys not to continue the violence and pattern of killing their brothers, but to rise above. The most beautiful song and has so many levels. Racism towards African Americans in America would not exist if everyone sat down and listened to this song and understood the history behind the words. The power, fear, pleading in RZA and Ghostface voices are genuine and powerful. Issac Hayes’ strong voice makes the perfect strong father figure, who is possibly from beyond the grave.

Plastic Bag
Ed Sheeran
“Plastic Bag” is a song about searching for an escape from personal problems and hoping to find it in the lively atmosphere of a Saturday night party. Ed Sheeran tells the story of his friend and the myriad of troubles he is going through. Unable to find any solutions, this friend seeks a last resort in a party and the vanity that comes with it. “I overthink and have trouble sleepin’ / All purpose gone and don’t have a reason / And there’s no doctor to stop this bleedin’ / So I left home and jumped in the deep end,” Ed Sheeran sings in verse one. He continues by adding that this person is feeling the weight of having disappointed his father and doesn’t have any friends to rely on in this difficult moment. In the second verse, Ed sings about the role of grief in his friend’s plight and his dwindling faith in prayer. “Saturday night is givin’ me a reason to rely on the strobe lights / The lifeline of a promise in a shot glass, and I’ll take that / If you’re givin’ out love from a plastic bag,” Ed sings on the chorus, as his friend turns to new vices in hopes of feeling better.
