This is one of my favorite songs. https://fnfgo.io
I ran down the road, pants down to my knees
Screaming "please come help me, that Canadian shaman gave a little too much to me!"
And I'm writing a novel because it's never been done before
First house that I saw I wrote house up on the door
And told the people who lived there they had to get out "cause my reality is realer than yours"
And there's no time for the present
And there's a black dog on the bed
I went to the backyard to burn my only clothes
And the dog ran out and said "you can't turn nothing into nothing is with me no more"
Well I'm no doctor but that monkey might be right
And if he is I'll be walking him my whole life
I rode to Malibu on a dune buggy with Neil
He said "you're gonna have to drive me down on the beach if you ever want to write the real"
And I said "I'm sorry, young man what is your name again?"
Now everywhere I go in West Hollywood
It's filled with people pretending they don't see the actress and the actress wishing that they could
We could do ayahuasca
Baby if I wasn't holding all these drinks
Something 'bout the way Violet whips her hair
That makes me empty my pockets on the corner to corner bumming twenties as if I was the mayor
I don't need any new friends, Momma
But I could really use something to do
So if you're up for it sometimes
I swear you wouldn't have to be my muse
Heidegger and Sartre, drinking poppy tea
I could've sworn last night I passed out in my van and now these guys are pouring one for me
I'll never leave the canyon 'cause I'm surrounded on all sides
By people writing novels and living on amusement rides
Screaming "please come help me, that Canadian shaman gave a little too much to me!"
And I'm writing a novel because it's never been done before
First house that I saw I wrote house up on the door
And told the people who lived there they had to get out "cause my reality is realer than yours"

Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve.
The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future.
Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere"
The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

This is a sequel to 2001's "Reckless Abandon", and features the band looking back on their clumsy youth fondly.
Magical

Ed Sheeran
How would you describe the feeling of being in love? For Ed Sheeran, the word is “Magical.” in HIS three-minute album opener, he makes an attempt to capture the beauty and delicacy of true love with words. He describes the magic of it all over a bright Pop song produced by Aaron Dessner.
The line, "Something 'bout the way Violet whips her hair That makes me empty my pockets on the corner to corner bumming twenties as if I was the mayor" Is actually incorrect.
It should read... "That makes me empty my pockets, HOLDIN' COURT on the corner BURNING twenties as if I was the mayor"
Great song.
i'm afraid Oscar isn't really involved here ;) pretty sure he says "we could do ayahuasca".
also, i think in his hallucination he's riding to Malibu on a dune buggy with Neil Young (a reference to his Revolution Blues) who tells him "you're gonna have to drown me down on the beach if you ever want to write the real" as in something as good as the real "On The Beach" album.
funny song
I first heard this sing after reading the book "My Life With Charles Manson," and I know it was just parallels my brain created, but... <br /> <br /> In the book, it mentioned the Family's "freakout" where they were tripping on belladonna and Manson ran down the street with his pants half on.<br /> <br /> The book also spoke about the Family taking over a house on Topanga canyon Blvd.<br /> "My reality is realer than yours" is also very close to a Manson quote "You say your reality is real and my reality is not."<br /> <br /> The Dunebuggy part is interesting because of course Manson knew Neil Young, and Manson had a dunebuggy obsession and Young gave Manson a motorcycle. Young also wrote Revolution Blues about Manson. Also, in the book "My Life..." the author talks about Manson trying to choke him out on the beach until he told him he wasn't afraid to die.<br /> <br /> West Hollywood connection is easy, the book speaks a lot about it and some of the Family's victims were from there and of an "actress."<br /> <br /> Violet was the color Manson gave to Susan Atkins.<br /> <br /> The book spoke about Manson burning money, or conning people out of thousands of dollars then simply giving it to the next person he met.<br /> <br /> The van verse is also interesting. During the trial, the book mentioned that actor Mark Ross (who Manson entrusted his music to) was at Spahn Ranch and the book's author Paul Watkins passed out in his van and woke up on fire. The Family tried to kill him for going to the LAPD.<br /> <br /> And of course, the Family lived in the canyons of LA-- Simi-chatsworth and Malibu. <br /> <br /> But, like I said, I am sure the song isn't about this book, but it really make me listen to the lyrics. it's amazing what music can do!
I believe it's, "you can't turn nothing into nothingness with me no more".
My favorite line on the record is, "cause I'm surrounded on all sides / by people writing novels / and living on amusement rides". (Now, he's started saying "and living lives that look like mine.")
Thanks for the correction!
