It's not the pale moon that excites me
That thrills and delights me, oh no
It's just the nearness of you

It isn't your sweet conversation
That brings this sensation, oh no
It's just the nearness of you

When you're in my arms and I feel you so close to me
All my wildest dreams come true

I need no soft lights to enchant me
If you'll only grant me the right
To hold you ever so tight
And to feel in the night the nearness of you

I will always like Willie Nelson's version the best, but the song is wonderful regardless of the singer. It's tempo is perfect. It's lyrics romantic. It just provides the visuals for being held tight by someone special and dancing in the moonlight. S/he is in Heaven in his arms and nothing else in the world matters at that very moment. Oh, so very romantic! Sometimes the more simple a song is the more powerful it becomes to the listener.
