I want love to, roll me over slowly
Stick a knife inside me, and twist it all around.

I want love to, grab my fingers gently
Slam them in a doorway, put my face into the ground.

I want love to, murder my own mother and
Take her off to somewhere like hell or up above.

I want love to change my friends to enemies,
Change my friends to enemies and show me how it's all my fault.

I won't let love disrupt, corrupt or interrupt me
I won't let love disrupt, corrupt or interrupt me
Yeah I won't let love disrupt, corrupt, or interrupt me anymore.

I want love to, walk right up and bite me
Grab a hold of me and fight me leave me dying on the ground.

And I want love to, split my mouth wide open and
Cover up my ears and never let me hear a sound.

I want love to, forget that you offended me
Or how you have defended me when everybody tore me down.

Yeah I want love to change my friends to enemies,
Change my friends to enemies and show me how it's all my fault.

Yeah I wont let love disrupt, corrupt or interrupt me
I won't let love disrupt, corrupt or interrupt me
I won't let love disrupt, corrupt, or interrupt me anymore.

My Interpretation:Jack has said that Love Interruption is about love getting in the way of itself.

My interpretation of that is that we want love so badly that we're willing to put up with all sorts of pain and suffering just to feel loved. And that all of the things we go through, we go through for love. I think that it's also saying that even when we feel loved we do stupid things to the people we love, and to ourselves, to get more love, or different love, or better love. And that this search for greater and different and more love is what makes us human. So the chorus is about embracing that human need to pursue love despite all of the things it does to us and makes us do.

General Comment:There are two loves. Perfect love is so amazing and all encompassing that we can’t even fully understand it. The other love is our interpretation and coinciding imitation of perfect love. Perfect love never truly harms us. Although we sometimes perceive perfect love as harm because we don’t fully understand or want what develops us and builds us stronger. So, perfect love feels like it wants to harm us in all kinds of cruel ways.

Back to our love which attempts to mimic perfect love, I interpret the love which disrupts, corrupts and interrupts as our version of love. We cling. We are selfish. We don’t even know how to help others. We consider physical factors most important. Our love is wildly dependent.

Still, we know that there is a better love which gives us hope. So, at the heart of the song is wanting love to transform you in ways you don’t understand.

The line “Change my friends to enemies and show me how it’s all my fault.” reminds me of people who go through a life change where they join a new religion. You realize that all that you had done in your life was harmful to you. All the influences and even the way you treated yourself was making you an enemy to yourself.

No one is ever your enemy in the sense that they cannot hide the beauty in everything from you. We hide life’s beauty from ourselves. There is that realization that people’s way is not the way though. They become like enemies merely because they are living the old life. They seem like threats to that view you found.

General Comment:I can relate to this song because it is exactly where I am in life right now. To me this song is about being so disappointed in love so many times that the next time love comes back knocking on the door it is seen as such a hassle and burden that the person hopes that love does all these things described in this song. That way there’s no other choice but to let it pass by. Hence the chorus: “I won't let love disrupt, corrupt, or interrupt me anymore”

My Interpretation:I have to admit, I'm not a music listener who analyzes the life of the song writer to try and discern hidden meanings. I view it all through the framework of my own knowledge.

I believe this song is not ironic, just veiled.

I think he wants a love so good that it could do all those things to him, and still make him feel like he's on the winning side of it.
I think he wants a love worth submitting to. Worth getting hurt over.

My Interpretation:To me it's having to do with how love is both positive and negative. Negative being the obsessive and positive being forgiveness; "I want love to forget that you've offended me or how you have defended me when everybody tore me down". You can either be blinded by love and ignorant (not listening or seeing truth) or peacefully content in forgiveness because of the love for one person. It's the struggle between man and emotion.

General Comment:@rec "poor guy has no idea what his in for"

"Real love is never meant to hurt you;"

Love hurts man, it hurts so much that you will cry your last tear. Instead of crying you will feel pain, you will feel it and you will have no control over it.

Love is not so much of an obsession, its the need to be loved.

In the perspective of Jack, I feel he is expressing that people are only interested in one thing, their needs. Also, where there is money a flock of sheep will follow, they will laugh with you as long as you have money in your pocket.

My Opinion:I think the song is about how love can change you in so many negative ways and make you do things that you never thought you were capable of doing. The chorus simply explains that he won't let love have such a hold on him any more.

General Comment:The song is not ironic. Jack recently went through two major break ups in his life, his divorce from his wife and his break up with Meg and the White Stripes. The fact that song is performed with an all female band represents his on going love and hate relationship with the women of his life.

General Comment:Real love is never meant to hurt you; that's an abusive relationship. If someone tells you they love you and then abuse you this way, their "love" is a lie and they're only trapping you in.

I don't know much about Jack White, but I think this song is supposed to be ironic, because after saying that he wants love to do such and such abusive thing to him, he says he won't let that kind of love disrupt, corrupt him, etc.

And the interesting thing is he later says he wants love to forget it offended him... same thing that goes on in an abusive relationship. The agressor comes back and says sorry, that it wasn't a big deal, and he/she still loves you...when it's really all a lie. Then White keeps saying that he won't let love disrupt, corrupt, interrupt him.

Maybe I'm wrong, but I'd like to really ask him what this means. Because other people say that this song represents how love is all consuming... but though love is all consuming, it's not abusive. That's not love, that's obsession.

So in conclusion, I think this song is using irony.
