I would die before I divorce you
I'd take a thousand thumps for my love
'Cause you kiss a lucky horseshoe
Stuck it in my boxing glove
'Cause anyone who will see us
Through our victory and done defeat
Knows that I'll take you to the cleaners
If you come between the cheats

Between the cheats, ooh oh oh ooh oh oh
Between the cheats, ooh oh oh ooh oh oh

My husband is the finest handsome hustler
And he still make this housewife blush
So I'm holding my hand in his
I'm sitting on the royal flush
Women drink him in, swimming in his green eyes
Then go home and catch the chips you got
And take a bad beat to ooh to boat oh!
The jack of hearts is my jackpot

Between the cheats, ooh oh oh ooh oh oh
Between the cheats, ooh oh oh ooh oh oh

'Cause we all have to lock eyes
And I know as my heart beats
There's a winning secret to both
And it's sworn between the cheats

Between the cheats, ooh oh oh ooh oh oh
Between the cheats, ooh oh oh ooh oh oh
Between the cheats, ooh oh oh ooh oh oh

I don't know if I'm right but instead of: 'Women drink him in, swimming in his green eyes' I hear: 'Women drink him in, swim in him, with green eyes' As in they take him in entirely and are left jealous he's not theirs?

    I don't know, I'm probably wrong, haha

Rather than 'then go home and catch the chips you got', it's 'then go home and cash the chips you got'. Also, instead of 'done defeat', I think it could be 'dumb defeat'. Not sure about that though. I also think raisedbywolves is right about the green eyes thing.

Obviously a song about Blake. Quite a sad song really. She loved him a lot.

I think it's "them go home and cash the chips you got." It's definitely "dumb defeat." I also think it's "'Cause anyone who will listen up."

The bridge definitely starts "'Cause we all have to lock eyes And I know is my heart beat."

At the 1:47 mark through 1:54 Amy is clearly "Scat singing" (vocalizing using sound and syllables instead of actual lyrics) Although, at the 1:47 mark, the last word would be "got" as soon as it rolls up to 1:47 she scat sings, than at the 1:54 mark the lyrics pick up where they last left off, and at 1:54 she continues with" the jack of hearts is my jackpot.

Personally, I think she sings something along these lines , Imagine this verse picking up at the 1:48 mark, " and take a min to, oh, bottle the jack of heart"

What do you guys think?? Also I wanna apply this scat signing to " October song" at mark 2:54 I feel like she scats, like a bird would, " I never ment to fly away" or it could be " I never ment to take off" which would make more scene, because what do birds to when they leave the nest? They take off. Never to return home again. Now that I listen to it again, it sounds like she says " I never ment to give up" rip Amy

This song is written as the perspective of the boys in the street, as a whole, and what path they are going to choose as they get older and grow into men. (This is why the music video takes place in an orphanage.) The seen, and unseen collective suffering is imbedded in the boys’ mind, consciously or subconsciously, and is haunting them. Which path will the boys choose? Issac Hayes is the voice of reason, maybe God, the angel on his shoulder, or the voice of his forefathers from beyond the grave who can see the big picture and are pleading with the boys not to continue the violence and pattern of killing their brothers, but to rise above. The most beautiful song and has so many levels. Racism towards African Americans in America would not exist if everyone sat down and listened to this song and understood the history behind the words. The power, fear, pleading in RZA and Ghostface voices are genuine and powerful. Issac Hayes’ strong voice makes the perfect strong father figure, who is possibly from beyond the grave.

Same ideas expressed in Fitter, Happier are expressed in this song. We're told to strive for some sort of ideal life, which includes getting a good job, being kind to everyone, finding a partner, getting married, having a couple kids, living in a quiet neighborhood in a nice big house, etc. But in Fitter, Happier the narrator(?) realizes that it's incredibly robotic to live this life. People are being used by those in power "like a pig in a cage on antibiotics"--being pacified with things like new phones and cool gadgets and houses while being sucked dry. On No Surprises, the narrator is realizing how this life is killing him slowly. In the video, his helmet is slowly filling up with water, drowning him. But he's so complacent with it. This is a good summary of the song. This boring, "perfect" life foisted upon us by some higher powers (not spiritual, but political, economic, etc. politicians and businessmen, perhaps) is not the way to live. But there is seemingly no way out but death. He'd rather die peacefully right now than live in this cage. While our lives are often shielded, we're in our own protective bubbles, or protective helmets like the one Thom wears, if we look a little harder we can see all the corruption, lies, manipulation, etc. that is going on in the world, often run by huge yet nearly invisible organizations, corporations, and 'leaders'. It's a very hopeless song because it reflects real life.
